A study suggests that the Pfizer vaccine will be mostly effective against the UK and South African variants. A Russian court rules that Kremlin critic Alexey Navalny will remain in detention ahead of his hearing next week.

    DHS Warns About Potential Violence by Domestic Extremists Jan 28, 2021

    The Department of Homeland Security has issued a bulletin over the “heightened threat environment” following President Biden's inauguration. The U.S. coronavirus death toll has now topped 427,000 with 25.5 million cases. Biden’s Covid team holds their first briefing, coordinator says “this is a national emergency….everything is on the table”. FEMA is preparing to ask the Pentagon for 10,000 soldiers to help the vaccine program. Biden is focusing on a $1.9 trillion Covid relief plan as the Senate prepares for the Trump impeachment trial. Biden signs executive actions to address the climate crisis. Sen. Tim Kaine is considering a Trump censure resolution as an alternative to impeachment. House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy tells Republicans to stop attacking each other: “cut that crap out”. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is set to join the Education & Labor Committee; she once called the Parkland shooting a “false flag” operation. After being poisoned and jailed, a Russian opposition leader’s apartment is raided by police.

    Biden Promises To Have Enough Covid Vaccines For All By Summer Jan 27, 2021

    President Biden announces his plan to buy 200 million more coronavirus vaccine doses. Biden also promises to have enough coronavirus vaccines for all 300 million Americans by the end of the summer. He also says that the coronavirus vaccine distribution will be increasing by 1.4 million doses next week and that the coronavirus "vaccine program was in worse shape than we anticipated."

    The CDC publishes a study that says in-person learning with minimal covid-19 spread is possible with the right precautions.

    Senators have been sworn in for Trump's historic second impeachment trial. Senators also vote 55-45 against questioning trial's constitutionality. Five GOP senators have voted with democrats on impeachment procedural vote. A source says that house managers are preparing a case showing visceral evidence of insurrection and that will make constitutionality central in the impeachment case.

    CNN is reporting that at least 150 suspects in the January 6 Capitol riot has been charged by the feds. Federal investigators are seeking tips about a person who planted pipe bombs on the day of the Capitol riot.

    According to the White House, Biden confronted Putin over several issues on their first call.

First Biden phone call with a world leader will be Canada’s Justin Trudeau. Biden is being praised for recommitting the U.S. to the World Health Organization.
