Welcome to The Shape of A New Thing To Come! This is the first episode of a monthly podcast where co-hosts Dan So, Adam Baker, and Jason Evans celebrate the intersections between punk, hardcore and new faith communities. In this first episode, we make introductions, share how we connected to punk and hardcore, and explore why it is that this conversation is so important to us.
We also talk about a few of the "new things" that we're excited about, including: Presbyterian Urban Ministries (San Diego, CA) Walking Tall Wilmington (Wilmington, NC) 3 church planters in Texas: Carrissa Baldwin McGinnis (Twitter), Brin Bon (Twitter, Instagram, blog) and David Peters (Twitter, Instagram, blog) There's also a lot of passionate discussion about the music the three of us are listening to this month, which is always fun. The soundtrack from this episode includes the music of Ecostrike, Toledo Knives, Wrecking Ball, Snake Babies and Skratchline. If you'd like to hear the entire playlist of bands discussed in this episode, check out the Spotify playlist (see below). Make sure to Like our Facebook page and tell us what you're listening to and what new faith communities might be inspiring you. Special thanks to Matt Traxler and Steadfast Records for the use of Brandtson's music and Andrew Wells for his live photography in the 'show poster' above.
