New Statewide System Will Help Customers Manage Their Benefits Online Sep 20, 2021

This month we're talking about a new statewide eligibility system that will impact hundreds of thousands of customers. The current system used to apply for and manage benefits, known as C-IV, will turn into CalSAWS -- the California Welfare Automated Welfare Benefits System.

On September 27, C4Yourself, the online platform customers use to apply for and manage benefits such as CalFresh, Medi-Cal, CalWORKs, will switch to BenefitsCal. BenefitsCal will be a one-stop-shop to apply for vital public benefits and this episode talks about the benefits customers can expect and how they can prepare for the change.

How IHSS Caregivers Make a Difference for Older Adults and Those With Disabilities Aug 16, 2021

In-home caregivers help clients who receive In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) live safely at home instead of in a nursing care facility. A woman named Kristine who has disabilities shares just how vital they are. She's speaking with TheServiceStation along with one of her caregivers. They're talking about the nature of the caregiver-client relationship, the difference home workers make in a person's daily life and the need for more in-home caregivers as Riverside County's aging population quickly grows.

It’s been just over a year since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. And while our communities begin to recover, some of our older adults may never recover money stolen from them in coronavirus scams. Our department helps protect and support victims of these crimes and has a specialized team that helps educate older and at-risk adults. It’s called Curtailing Abuse Related to the Elderly.. or C.A.R.E., and Karina Mariscal is one of their coordinators. She joined theServiceStation to discuss the latest scams against older adults and ways to prevent them.
