    EPISODE 79 -- KYLE PETTY PART 2 Feb 13, 2020
    Show notes

Clocking in at a little more than an hour and a half, this week's episode of The Scene Vault Podcast Presented by Q Ware is our second-longest ever. Why so long? Because between Kyle Petty AND Tony "Rambo" Liberati, we certainly had a lot to discuss. Kyle remembers the struggles of keeping up with the times at Petty Enterprises, driving for the Wood Brothers, being incredibly upset with a caution at Richmond … before finding out it had actually given him the first win of his career … and meeting team owner Felix Sabates for the first time. Then, host Rick Houston and Rambo break down the August 6, 1987 issue of Grand National Scene, which features a cover story on testing limits and a Photo Bio of a certain up-and-coming crew member.

    EPISODE 78 -- KYLE PETTY PART 1 Feb 06, 2020
    Show notes

Kyle Petty is a lot of things to a lot of people, and in the first of our three-part interview, he's an exceptional interview as always. Petty talks about growing up in NASCAR, having never known a time when the sport wasn't a part of his life. Heir apparent to the sport's most famous family, it was his mother Lynda, not father Richard, who was the most competive. Finally, he discusses the expectations of being Richard Petty's son. In our segment, former Cale Yarborough Motorsports crew member joins host Rick Houston to remember the late John Andretti.

    Show notes

In our first regular episode of the new year, host Rick Houston sits down with Larry McReynolds for an insider's perspective on the early years of the longtime crew chief's NASCAR career. Filled with a number of peaks and valleys, Larry Mac worked for legendary drivers Mark Martin and Tim Richmond in circumstances that were, at times, quite trying. In our second segment, Rick is joined by co-host Steve Waid for a discussion of the 1983 spring race at Darlington, won by Harry Gant. The race saw pre-race parts confiscations AND a post-race inspection that initially found Mark Martin with an oversized engine.

    EPISODE 71 -- BOBBY LABONTE PART 2 Dec 12, 2019
    Show notes

The 1992 Busch Series season began at Daytona with Bobby Labonte and Todd Bodine helping to pull Joe Nemechek from the inferno of his demolished race car, and ended with the same three drivers in the closest championship battle in the division's history. Labonte remembers those incidents, as well as his struggles getting up to speed with Bill Davis Racing and, eventually, his first Winston Cup victory with Joe Gibbs Racing that came despite a serious health scare. Hosts Rick Houston and Steve Waid then discuss Dyno-gate, the exit of short tracks from the Busch Series schedule and Andy Santerre, nice guy extraordinaire.
