    Anna is a bold and unapologetic fighter for Florida families and every day people. Born and raised in Orlando she’s the daughter of working class immigrants who came to Florida from Iran in search of the American Dream. Anna went to Orange County Public Schools and then to the University of Central Florida. She earned dual degrees as an undergrad and graduate student, works as a works as a nonprofit professional and completed her PhD in Public Administration this year from UCF. A bridge builder, Anna flipped her legislative seat in 2018 and won her re-election by an overwhelming majority in 2020 and 2022. She made history as the first Iranian-American elected to any public office in Florida and has championed critical issues like housing affordability, tax breaks for working families, environmental protection, equality for all, funding for public schools, human trafficking and sexual assault prevention, and support of arts and culture funding. We The People celebrate the first amendment, every one that came after it and the ones that might just be codified! Some Day! Today we welcome to great libertarians of the right things to talk about- Senator Jeff Brandes, who put out the most sane implementation bills of Amendment 2(2016) and Jason Beck who helped to tame the Wild West that is California(well, sort off it’s still a little out of control. Not that that’s a bad thing..) Senator Jeff Brandes A highly respected and accomplished leader who served in the Florida Legislature from 2010 to 2022. He represented District 24, which covered a majority of Pinellas County, and was known for his innovative and independent policy-making. Throughout his tenure, he consistently advocated for solutions to address Florida's most challenging issues. Brandes is a strong advocate for free market principles and has worked to reduce regulations and taxes to promote business development in Florida. He is a vocal supporter of cutting-edge technologies and has played a vital role in the state's advancing self-driving vehicles, rideshare, and other emerging technologies. For over a decade, he has hosted the Florida Automated Vehicle Summit, which assembles industry leaders from around the country to address transportation technologies, operations, and policy issues. He is a veteran, having served as an Army officer in the 101st Airborne Division in Iraq. This experience gave him a unique perspective on leadership and public service. He has also been an advocate for prison reform and worked to increase public safety through improvements in the criminal justice system. The former Senator continues to be an expert leader in property insurance reform. Brandes is a business owner and serves on the boards of several community organizations. Senator Brandes lives in St. Petersburg and is dedicated to making Florida a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Since leaving office, he has founded the Florida Policy Project, a not-for-profit, non-partisan organization that researches best practices and better outcomes in housing affordability, property insurance, criminal justice, and transportation.     During the medical cannabis movement in Florida Tom Quigley and Pete Sessa used to run the Florida Cannabis Coalition. As a matter of fact Carlos worked for them for many years. Together they advocated for medical marijuana only dreaming of a day where they could advocate for Adult Use. Now Tom runs a few successful hemp companies, including the popular coffee shop Chill Cawfee, and Pete runs an event series which includes psychedelics with its message of legalization. Mark Cohen With a background in commercial real estate, Mark seeks to bring his own brand of franchised social use lounges known as Bud's Place to Nevada and beyond. It's not all about Hollywood with these guys though. Brandon and Shai not only run a top-notch Hemp Dispensary, but they are also Hemp Advocates Extraordinaires.... they work closely with Healthy Hemp Alternatives to keep legal access to hemp alive both in Florida and nationally. But they also do a great deal of their own grassroots efforts. So, is Desantis going to veto the hemp bill? Will big cannabis succeed in ending the hemp industry! Should we support Amendment 3 when it comes to hemp? All questions we will ask in this week's show. SHAI ORTIZ | COO Shai Ortiz is the COO of Siesta G, a Cannabis Hemp Company in Florida, where she handles most of the business operations. She is also an advocate for the medical and recreational benefits of cannabis, working with state and local organizations to promote its safe use.     Rodney W. Jacobs, Jr., Candidate for FL State Senate District 35, Jumps into the Rotation May 20, 2026

    Rodney W. Jacobs, Jr. is the son of a 30-year Army Veteran, proud husband, and father of two. For nearly ten years he has been City Executive for the City of Miami. As the Executive Director of the City of Miami Civilian Investigative Panel (CIP), a police oversight department in the City of Miami, Rodney’s purpose is to conduct independent Investigations of police officers involved in misconduct. In his department leads all operations and investigations. Rodney is a Captain in the United States Army Reserve (USAR). In 2016, he branched as a Military Intelligence Officer. After branching, he served as the S2 Officer in Charge at the 436th Civil Affairs Battalion in Sanford, FL, until. Later, he attended the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (USAJFKSWCS) at Fort Liberty, NC, to re-branch as a Civil Affairs Officer. Rodney now serves as the Headquarters and Headquarters Company Commander for the 436th Civil Affairs Battalion where he commands over 100 soldiers. There he also counsels and advises key leaders on government, economics, safety, health and social remedies/policies. Rodney is a lecturer and adjunct professor at the Florida International University (FIU), Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs, teaching courses in Criminal Justice, Law, and Public Administration. Rodney completed his B.A. from Hiram College in 2012, a master’s degree in Public Health and Public Administration from the University of Miami in 2020. And earned his Law Degree from the University of Dayton School of Law in 2015. He serves on the executive board as Vice Chair of Engage Miami which promotes Civic Leadership and engagement, while supporting youth civic training for personal and professional development. Also, efficiently mobilizes resources for innovation and a positive change within the legal, health, and policing profession through his leadership positions with the United Way of Miami, Miami-Dade and the National Association of Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (NACOLE). Further, with his dynamic skills and versatile understanding of the legal landscape he is a noted speaker, and columnist to multiple organizations on policing, law, health and society throughout the country. He lives in Miramar with his two children and his beautiful wife Ramona Jacobs, MBA, who is a proud HBCU graduate from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), contemporary dance instructor, and elementary school educator.


    Bree Wallace, Candidate for FL State House District 66, Jumps into the Rotation May 20, 2026

    Bree Wallace is a local Tampa activist running for State House District 66. Bree has lived in the area for over 20 years and graduated with a degree in Communications and Sociology from USF. After school she volunteered and then started working with a local abortion fund and is now the Director of Case Management. In August 2023 Bree started the Tampa Period Pantry which gives out free menstrual hygiene products and has expanded to 9 locations as of now. She believes everyone deserves leaders who sincerely care about them and understand the issues they face.

    Juliana Whitney, is the founder of cannabis business strategy firm Cann Strategy. With a Master's degree in Business Administration, specializing in New Venture Development, she has unlocked the potential of budding ventures in the cannabis industry since 2015. In 2024 she was appointed as the Chair of the Advisory Board for the official Cannabis Hall of Fame (R) inside Cannabition at Planet 13 Las Vegas. Her journey in the industry began with a critical role in the pioneering team of the first medical marijuana dispensary in Las Vegas. Here, she honed her skills in customer relations, inventory management, sales, operating procedures, and training.
