Ep 24 - At the Lodge: Mallard Estates Outfitter Dec 09, 2020
    Show notes

In this episode, Rob sits down with the whole gang at Mallard Estates Outfitter in Brownsville, TN to talk about how the season has been so far and what it takes to be an outfitter. It isn't just showing up and killing ducks, you have to be a booking agent, a farmer, a carpenter, a welder, an electrician, a psychiatrist (bartender), a chauffer, a comedian, and eventually you get to be a duck hunter. If you can't be all of those things, you have to assemble a team who is, and they've done just that. We hear from Blake and Monte McWilliams, among others, and learn about the history of Mallard Estates and about how far they have come in just a few years.

    Cut the beagles loose.

In this episode we are joined by two new members of the Rolling Thunder Team, Josh Grossenbacher and Terence Williamson. Josh and Terence are two of the best mouth and friction call makers that you'll find anywhere and they were gracious enough to come on the show while they have been in town makings calls are the shop ahead of the spring turkey expansion for 2021. We dive into the world of turkey calling competitions and what it takes to make a quality turkey call.

Stay tuned in the next few weeks for more waterfowl content as the season heats up in Kansas and as we look towards the Arkansas opener.

    Show notes

In this episode, Rob and Spence call up our friend, Jeff Barry, from Kent Cartridge. Jeff is the VP of Sales and Marketing for Kent and is a man on fire about ballistics, relationships, and innovation. We talk about the origins of Kent Cartridge in the wake of the federal ban of lead shot for migratory birds, innovation in a competitive market, and the physics of why speed matters. If you haven't already, grab a box (or a case) of Kent and get it out in the field to try it out! They make a pretty dang good shell... we are proud to partner with Kent.

    Ep 19 - Kanati Taxidermy w/ Tyler Coleman & Dave Beck Oct 29, 2020
    Show notes

In this episode, we welcome Tyler Coleman and Dave Beck from Kanati Taxidermy on the show to take a deep dive into the world of taxidermy. Far removed from the one-man band in the garage down a dirt road, Kanati is a world-class taxidermy operation out of Pennsylvania serving clients all across the country and beyond. Tyler and Dave walk us through the entire process from harvest to finished product and show us what it takes to preserve memories so that you can relive the hunt for years to come. Along the way, they share a few tips for how to time, select, and care for your harvest, both, in the field all the way to the time you drop it off at your taxidermist.

The Kanati boys were kind enough to share all sorts of helpful information and their time and we were blown away at the craftsmanship and passion that they have for what they do. These guys are a riot and you won't find two nicer guys. Check it out!
