Season 6, Episode 11. Johanna Hill, Deputy Director General at the WTO. DDG Johanna Hill has been involved with the WTO since its inception and has worked directly with it at various points in her career. Her career in multilateral and bilateral affairs is long, and she has also worked in the private sector. We had an insightful conversation covering a wide range of topics, from her early years in El Salvador to her commitment to education, which led her to Tufts University and Columbia University. She then worked for El Salvador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Economy, where she was appointed as Vice Minister of Economy. This solid and long experience has brought her to the WTO, where she now serves as DDG. She is involved in several initiatives, and one of her goals is making the WTO more inclusive and telling the story of the MTS to everyone. And I can say she has really succeeded in that. He is a consummate diplomat who got into Trade and never left. He was posted in Geneva as the Deputy Permanent Representative for the Mission of Australia to the WTO back in 2012, and although he didn’t initially intend to return, he is back as Ambassador with the intention and goal to deliver on many of the pending items we are currently working on at the WTO. Season 6, Episode 7. Dmitry Grozoubinski. Executive Director at Geneva Trade Platform in Geneva. Dmitry wears many hats, including author and overall point of reference for International Trade. If you want to learn more about Trade, you will probably run into him. Before all this, he had a successful career as an Australian Trade Diplomat, where I met him. I found out we are sort of kindred spirits. We both appreciate a good Aaron Sorkin dialogue and are both introverts. Many people find this last part difficult to believe. We talk about many things: his journey to Australia, why he became interested in International Relations, his experiences at the WTO, how he transitioned to the ICTSD, and how he suffered its demise. This actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise, leading him to become a personality in social media. All this led him to his current position at the Geneva Trade Platform. We also delve into his latest book, “Why Politicians Lie About Trade... and What You Need to Know About It!” This book, with its unique voice and ability to simplify complex concepts, is a must-read for anyone interested in trade policy. Season 6, Episode 6. Pablo M. Bentes is a partner at Baker McKenzie Geneva and heads the firm's global WTO disputes practice. I've known Pablo for a while and I even shared his office while at the WTO's Appellate Body. One of the things I was glad to find there was the sense of camaraderie; it was like a big family. So, we had to talk about that, but I wanted to cover much more than that since Pablo has had an exciting career beyond that. We discussed how he left Brazil to study and his experiences working abroad, eventually leading him to the WTO. We also talked about what led to his decision to leave the WTO, which I found very interesting. Season 6, Episode 5. Anna Morawiec Mansfield. Legal Counsel at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). I recently met Anna and was so impressed that I had to invite her to the podcast. Even then, I could not have imagined the amazing conversation we would have. I have been doing this for a while, but a few conversations have really stood out, and this is one of them. Anna's story is a testament to resilience, determination, and character. Like many immigrants, she has faced numerous challenges, but as Anna herself describes it, overcoming challenges is her and many immigrants' superpower. Anna tells us about growing up in Poland and moving to the United States. Then, before going to law school, she worked in many places, always with an international outlook, and eventually decided that law school would give her the tools to continue pursuing what she really wanted to do. Then, almost as if she was destined to, she made it to the State Department, which eventually brought her to Geneva. After a few years, she moved to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). I talked to her a few days after the successful conclusion of the WIPO Treaty on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources, and Associated Traditional Knowledge. I was truly inspired by Anna's story, and I look forward to sharing it with you. I can't wait for you to listen to this. Marisa Goldstein is an experienced lawyer who has worked in the Legal Affairs Dvision at the WTO for many years, and she has certainly left her mark. I have known her since the beginning of my career in International Trade, and she is a well-known and well-liked figure in the community. We have collaborated a couple of times and even raced in the same races. In our conversation, we delved into her career, law school, international relations, and the fascinating journey that led her to Geneva. We also explored the impactful work she's been doing at the WTO, including the upcoming 22nd edition of the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition with the European Law Students' Association (ELSA). We discussed the challenges she faced, the lessons she learned, and her advice for aspiring international trade practioners. Her career path is truly inspiring. He was at the Zurich Film Festival to present his latest film, and that is when I had the pleasure to sit down with him to discuss his career, his craft, his latest film, and also a bit about what he is working on next. I have been working with him for many years, and we have worked together in many negotiations, including the ITA expansion, EGA, and TiSA. Season 5 Episode 08 – Nir Baranga, Director, Trade in Services and Investment Department at the Foreign Trade Administration of the Ministry of Economy, Israel. Nir is one of my earliest colleagues at the Ministry. We started around the same time and remain kicking and screaming. He is a frontline negotiator leading bilateral, plurilateral, and multilateral services negotiations for Israel. When he visits Geneva, we usually talk about many things besides trade, and podcasts are one of them. We have wanted to do this podcast for some time, but fitting it into our busy schedules has been challenging. Season 5 Episode 05 – Hosuk Lee-Makiyama, Director of the European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE) in Brussels. Hosuk is a leading author on trade diplomacy, EU-Far East relations, and the digital economy. I enjoyed catching up with him during his recent visit to Geneva. Stuart had a distinguished career in public service in Hong Kong, serving from 1994 to 2002 and then joining the WTO as one of the OGs Chief of Staff to Director-General Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi, and later became a became Senior Adviser to Director-General Pascal Lamy. He also chaired many bodies, including the General Council, TRIPS and Services Councils, and the Dispute Settlement Body. So he saw it all. Season 5 Episode 01 – David Bisbee, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States of America (USA) to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland. As we kick off the 5th season of the podcast, I could not think of a better guest than David. I have known David since the beginning of my time working with WTO. We worked on several files, including Trade Facilitation and Government Procurement. David is very experienced in the Multilateral Trading System (MTS), and it is always a delight to exchange views with him, which he is happy to do in and frank manner. Season 4 Episode 17 – Juan Pablo Moya Hoyos, Dispute Settlement Lawyer at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland. I have known Juan Pablo for some time since we ran in the same circles, and we have common friends, but we only really had time to talk recently. We have a lot in common and cover much of it in this fun and insightful conversation. However, we only got to some of it. Juan Pablo is an economist and a lawyer, but as he tells it, his brain works more like an economist. Like many Colombians, he got his trade start through the Moot Court Competition. He talks about his experience in the Moot Court and how he stayed involved with it afterward. This led him to a stint working in Colombia's Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, where he worked on disputes and FTA negotiations. Afterward, he traveled to Georgetown University for an LL.M., eventually bringing him to Geneva and the WTO. Ah, there is also a story about how he got to New York for his Bar Exam. Season 4 Episode 11 – Emeric Delalandre, Co-Founder at Hegid. Emeric is a talented and passionate entrepreneur currently working in watches at Hegid. Still, from our conversation, I could tell he could easily be working in any other industry and succeed. It just happens that he is passionate about watches, which is why we have Hegid. Emeric is a French national, and this is something that drives him, with one of his goals being bringing French watchmaking to the forefront. French Watchmaking entered the UNESCO World Heritage List in December 2020, and Emeric is one of the individuals determined to grow French watchmaking. I visited the boutique in Paris and talked to him about how watches resulted from the nexus of his interests, including technology, fashion, craftmanship, jewelry, and business, to name a few. We also discussed what makes Hegid unique and how its System Evolutive came into being. We also touched on the changing landscape in watchmaking, his recent collaboration with Hervet Manufacturier for the Celeste line, and some of the plans for the brand's future. Season 4 Episode 08 – Roy Davidoff, Modern & Vintage watch expert and half of the Roy and Sacha duo. The Rodolfo Rivas Project has always been about talking to interesting individuals and learning from their experiences. Since I am a lawyer working in International Trade, Intellectual Property, and Dispute Settlement, many of my guests work in these areas. However, I’ve also featured filmmakers because film is a passion of mine, CEOs because I also dabble in entrepreneurship, and other professionals, with the idea of covering some of my interests. Roy and his brother are based in Geneva out of their shop in the Old Town. Roy has become a point of reference, and his shop is an essential stop for any watch enthusiast visiting Geneva before a necessary appointment. Roy has worked in the industry for decades and made a name for himself as one of the foremost experts on the Omega Speedmaster. But since then, he has branched out into everything related to watches. In our conversation, we covered how he got into watches, his views on the ever-changing industry, the Omega x Swatch Moonswatch collaboration, and if the balance of power in the watch industry can be altered. Season 4 Episode 09 – Leticia Caminero, Consultant Research and Special Projects at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This season is the Caribbean season at The Rodolfo Rivas Project! Like a couple of my previous guests this season, my guest hails from the Caribbean, specifically the Dominican Republic. She is Leticia Caminero, a fellow professional in the International Intellectual Property scene. We have been trying to arrange it for a while and finally got around to it, and I could not be happier. Leticia is a lawyer and holds an LLM from the University of Cambridge. She was also part of the first cohort of the Young Professional Programme at the World Trade Organization. As she tells it, the Programme was integral in her career, and she talks a bit about the selection process and the whole experience. Early in her career, with her entrepreneurial spirit, she started a thriving law practice and talked about the successes and challenges of following this path. After her stint at the WTO, she joined the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington D.C., which eventually led her back to Geneva, where her heart is, but let her tell you more about that. Season 4 Episode 08 – Amb. Santiago Wills, Permanent Representative of Colombia to the World Trade Organization (WTO). I was thrilled to talk to Ambassador Wills and had been looking forward to this conversation for a long time. But unfortunately, he has been very busy with the Fisheries Subsidies negotiation at the WTO pretty much since he arrived in Geneva as Ambassador. Still, after the successful outcome during last month’s 12th Ministerial Conference, I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to hear directly from him how he experienced the negotiations in the hours leading to the historical outcome. During our conversation, he shared insight into how the negotiations developed during crunch time. But before that, we talked about his career and interest in music, which almost took him down a different path. Nevertheless, music remains important to him, and we discuss how it was likely helpful in his negotiation approach. He also talks about his first encounter with International Trade Law and Policy, which was in the form of the John H. Jackson Moot Court competition, which had a different name at the time. But, it didn’t matter, and his team won. From then on, he was hooked. We talked about many other things, even briefly about rockstars and Mick Jagger. Our conversation was insightful but fun. Season 4 Episode 07 – Dr. Jan Yves Remy, Director of the Shridath Ramphal Centre (SRC). Jan Yves is an International trade lawyer and Director of the Shridath Ramphal Centre (SRC), a leading center in the Caribbean for International Trade Law, Policy, and Services. She’s had a successful career spanning over twenty years in International Trade. She’s advised governments and private stakeholders on international trade matters, focusing on dispute settlement under the auspices of the World Trade Organization (WTO). As SRC’s Director, she coordinates SRC’s flagship Masters in International Trade Policy Programme (MITP). She also lectures on law and trade aspects of Caribbean regional integration, but that just scratches the surface. Jan Yves was a legal officer at the Appellate Body Secretariat at the WTO, where I met her. During our conversation, she talks about the duty to give back to your community, the inspirational power of role models and education, and how the Caribbean flexes its muscle in International Trade. We talked about the camaraderie at the Appellate Body and how this experience marked her. Season 4 Episode 06 – Marco Tulio Molina Tejada, Deputy Permanent Representative of Guatemala to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Marco is one of the longest-serving Deputy Permanent Representatives to the WTO currently working In Geneva. If you know a bit about the WTO and/or International dispute settlement, you’ve probably heard about him. I have been meaning to invite him for a conversation. After a few hectic weeks, which led to the WTO concluding with has been hailed by some as one of the most successful WTO Ministerial Conferences, we found some time to sit and chat on this and a couple of other topics. Marco tells us how he got into the legal profession, primarily influenced by a long line of lawyers in his family. Then, he talks about how he got into International Trade and participated in negotiating Guatemala’s first Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Mexico. Season 4 Episode 05 – Rodolfo C. Rivas, Chief of Staff, Arbitrator, Law Professor, Film Director & Podcaster. Rodolfo Rivas is usually the host of The Rodolfo Rivas Project, but for this episode, the first guest of the podcast, Mr. Brian Frenkel, is back to take the duties of host and talk to the guest Rodolfo Rivas. It was great to have Brian taking the reins and flipping the table for a special episode. I hope we don’t jump the shark with this one. After four years of doing the show, maybe some of you may be wondering about the man behind one of the microphones. So this is your chance to learn a bit about him. The conversation evolves in a typical fashion, covering Rodolfo’s path to law school. The track was not laid out clearly, and for a moment there, Rodolfo flirted with film school. After not making the cut into two of the most challenging film schools in the country, Rodolfo decided to come back to the law and specialize in Intellectual Property, which got him to Spain and eventually to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, where he has lived more than a third of his life so far. After his stint at WIPO, he decided to try his luck at Stanford, where the impostor syndrome was alive. Then, he returned to Geneva to be with his future bride. After that, his professional path led him to International Trade, the Appellate Body, and the Mission of Israel, where he has been for almost eleven years. Lastly, he talks about his love and passion for radio, storytelling, and podcasting and how he finally decided to pay his debt to film by adapting a short story by Steven King. Season 4 Episode 04 – Keith Rockwell, Director, Information and External Relations Division and spokesperson at World Trade Organization from 1996 until 2022. Keith is a legend at the WTO and, I think, the longest-serving Division Director. So if it happened at the WTO, he saw it, and he can probably tell you about it; in fact, that was his job, or that is his job at least for a few more days before he retires. My conversation with him was informative but also great fun. He talked about how his father was influential in his worldview and some of the personalities he met growing up, including Desmond Tutu. This eventually led him to study History and Political Science at Tufts University, which brought him to Europe, where he would return later after getting into journalism. Bernstein and Woodward inspired him, and he scooped a couple of stories during the Reagan years. Listen on if you want to find out more about this. Season 4 Episode 02 – Dr. Juneyoung Lee (이준영), Legal Affairs Officer at the World Trade Organization (WTO). June has been working at the WTO for over 14 years, with a stint at the International Trade Center (ITC) and previously at UNDP. Dr. June is a national from Korea, and as she tells it, even though she’s been away from Korea for a long time, she still longs for going back. In our conversation, June talks about how her studies brought her to Switzerland and eventually to the WTO through the internship program. She has always been curious, and this has led her to explore working across various divisions at the WTO, including Accessions and currently Trade and Environment. Through this journey, it is clear she has formed a holistic view of the organization. She’s had experience teaching, which she has found rewarding, as she has also learned a lot from her students. Lastly, Dr. June was the first-ever secondee of the WTO to the ITC, which she tells us opened her eyes to the potential of further collaboration. June has had an impressive career as an international civil servant, and her devotion to her work and constant improvement was refreshing. Season 4 Episode 01 – Jaime Coghi, Deputy Permanent Representative of Costa Rica to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Jaime has been working in Geneva on WTO-related matters since the establishment of the WTO. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone as knowledgeable about the WTO as Jaime; if it has happened at the WTO, Jaime has probably seen it. I have known Jaime for over ten years, and he is a well-regarded diplomat who I consult with whenever I need some information or I have a question. Jaime has covered many topics at the WTO, including Dispute Settlement. He has even served as a Panelist in a dispute and assisted in the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) Special Session, where Members have been trying to amend the Dispute Settlement Understanding (DSU). Jaime also worked in the Revised Information Technology Agreement (ITA), which proved to be a key element of Costa Rica’s broader National Policy to move up the Global Value Chain (GVC) and become a leader in the industry. In our conversation, Jaime delves deeper into why Costa Rica is a strong supporter of the Multilateral Trading System (MTS) and, in the process, becoming one of the best case studies of how countries can benefit from the WTO. We also get to discuss one of the achievements of the WTO during the last few months, which came in the form of the conclusion of the negotiations on services domestic regulation, which stands as the first set of rules on services in 24 years. Jaime chaired the process during the last stretch, and during our conversation, he tells us a bit about the process and some lessons learned, which could prove helpful across other negotiations in the WTO. Season 3 Episode 16 – Professor Gabrielle Marceau, Ph.D.. Counsellor for Research on Legal Policy at the World Trade Organization (WTO). Gabrielle is a Canadian national and an institution at the WTO, where she has been since its inception. I have known Gabrielle for many years, but this is the first time we had an extended conversation, and I enjoyed it. During our conversation, she talked about how she got interested in law and how this eventually led her to International law at LSE. She also shares a bit about the recruitment process when she began working in International trade, which shows the importance of perseverance. We also talked about the evolution of the WTO, which she has witnessed firsthand throughout her career at legal affairs, the office of the Director-General, and now focusing on Research and Legal Policy. There are some parallels in the work she has done and the objective of this podcast, which we discuss when addressing some of the motivations behind the book “A History of Law and Lawyers in the GATT/WTO” ( https://www.wto.org/english/res_e/publications_e/historylaw15_e.htm) and her project chronicling stories around the creation of the WTO available at http://www.wtocreation.org/en. Season 3 Episode 15 – Nazrene Mannie. Executive Director of Global Apprenticeship Network (GAN) Global. Nazrene is a South African national and a specialist in social policy focusing on youth employment and skills development. In her work, she collaborates closely with organizations such as the Global Alliance for Youth, private sector companies, and international development entities such as the ILO, World Bank, UNESCO, and OECD to drive forward the agenda for agile Workforce Development within the context of the Future of Work. Although many of these topics have been on many organizations' agendas for years, the COVID-19 pandemic brought them front and center to the collective consciousness, fostering dialogue and a stock-taking of where we stand and where we are heading. All this, in the minds of many individuals and their professional careers and work-life balance, as well as from a larger social and cultural perspective. We touched upon many of these topics during our conversation, including automation, remote working, skill shortages, the future of universities, etc. We could have talked for quite a bit longer since these are topics of great relevance. Season 3 Episode 14 – Prof. Dr. Peter Van den Bossche. Former Chairman of the Appellate Body at the WTO and current Director of Studies at the World Trade Institute in Bern. I met Prof. Van den Bossche when I was an intern at the Appellate Body, and since then, I remember being impressed by how knowledgeable and kind he was. I did not know it at the time, but those felt like the golden years of the Appellate Body and one of the reasons for this witnessing the high-level work of the Appellate Body Members and the Appellate Body Secretariat. But it is better if you hear this from Prof. Van den Bossche. We discuss going into law with a stronger emphasis on European law, particularly at the European Court of Justice. His interest and focus shifted towards International Economic Law when he studied at the University of Michigan Law School under Prof. John Jackson. Eventually, he made his way to the Appellate Body in the early days, and he tells us a bit about what he experienced during those formative years of the Appellate Body. He then tells us a bit about the selection process to become a candidate for the AB. He then shares some of the significant differences in his experience serving as an AB Member and serving as part of the Secretariat. He also shares his views on the MPIA and what a future AB could look like. Lastly, he tells us a bit about his experiences with the WTI and the much-awaited 5th edition of The Law and Policy of the WTO. We could have talked for hours, and in fact, we did talk for quite a bit after switching off the mic. So perhaps we will have to do the first, second part episode. Season 3 Episode 13 – Colette van der Ven. Founder and Director of TULIP – a Geneva-based consulting firm. Colette is an international lawyer with expertise in trade and development. In her work, she advises governments and international organizations on leveraging legal and regulatory frameworks to promote inclusive and green development. Colette holds a Juris Doctor from the Harvard Law School and Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College. In our conversation, she talks about how she got interested in impactful change to better the living standards of others. At first, this was in the direction of becoming a medical doctor, but soon after, it moved into trade and inclusive and green development. As she went from one professional experience to another, she did it systematically towards a very clear goal in mind- helping others. She founded and served as the director for Sidley Austin’s pro bono program – the Trade for Development Initiative. All this led her to create TULIP, where she spends most of her time. Although TULIP is just a few years old, it keeps growing and doing impactful work, being almost a synthesis of all the work Colette has been doing all along. Lastly, Colette tells us about her passion for helping younger generations discover their path, something she will be doing this semester as she teaches at the Graduate Institute. Season 3 Episode 12 – Elena Horn. Film Director of “The Lesson” (2020) and “Lands of Lost Content” (2017) amongst other films. For the second time, The Rodolfo Rivas Project visited the Zurich Film Festival, and I was lucky enough to meet a couple of filmmakers. In this episode, I talked to Elena Horn the day after the premiere of her film “The Lesson”, which screened to a big audience that included lots of children. After the screening, the kids asked plenty of questions and vividly engaged with this thought-provoking material. I had big shoes to fill when talking to Elena since I wanted to have an insightful conversation with her as she did the previous day at her screening. But, luckily for me, Elena made our conversation fun, even when we delved into some of the themes touched in her powerful film. In our conversation, Elena tells us how she got into films after initially hoping to become a gymnast. She talks about the importance of learning all aspects of the filmmaking craft and discusses some of the topics she focuses on in her filmmaking. About the film, and without going into spoilers, she tells us about the unique distribution model she chose for the film and talks about the importance of educating the youth. “The Lesson” took over five years in the making, and it is evident it is a labor of love by a committed filmmaker. Time flew by during our conversation. I look forward to watching more films by Elena, and I highly recommend you watch this film because it tells us more about how we need to remember and tell the stories about the past to learn the lessons, even if they are painful. Season 3 Episode 11 – Andreas Koefoed. Film Director of “The Lost Leonardo” (2021), “The Arms Drop” (2014) and “Ballroom Dancer” (2011) amongst other films. I had a chance to talk to Andreas at the Zurich Film Festival for the premiere of his latest film, “The Lost Leonardo”. The screening room was full and the experience being back at the movie theater with a big audience was great. During our conversation we talk about how Andreas got into films and filmmaking. He initially studied political science and music, and these interests shine through his latest film and across most of his filmography. Although we do not go into spoilers, we do talk in depth about “The Lost Leonardo” a riveting film that touches on many themes, moving seamlessly from one to another. The story of the Salvator Mundi painting attributed to Leonardo DaVinci was featured prominently in the news during the last few years. Everyone knows it broke all records when it was sold in auction for over $450 million in 2017. Even if you know this, Andreas weaves a tale that has it all and blurs the lines between documentary and fiction filmmaking. In our discussion we talk about the process of making the film, Andreas tells us some more details about the provenance of the painting, and we also talk about some of the techniques used in telling the story. Although the film starts with art, we go into the financial world and geopolitics, pretty much touching on all topics dear to my heart. I highly recommend you to watch this film, because just as any great piece of art, it makes us think about ourselves, human nature and the times we live in. Season 3 Episode 10 – S.J.D. Chang-fa Lo. Permanent Representative of the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. Doctor Chang-fa has accomplished a lot in his life before becoming the Permanent Representative for Chinese Taipei at the WTO. He has been a Law Professor, the Dean of the most prestigious Law School in Taipei, an author, and a Justice of the Constitutional Court, and that is just scratching the surface. It was a pleasure to have a conversation with him where we touched on many topics, from his upbringing, where he recalls some vivid images from his hard-working childhood. In addition, we get a chance to talk about the evolution of the legal system in Chinese Taipei, as well as the differences in legal scholarship he experienced first-hand during his studies at Harvard Law School. Founder and Board President of Grupo Inmobiliario KIVA, as well as Board President at Fundacion y Empresa Donari, Station 24 Fitness, Zulu Ventures and Deckora Mexico, amongst other things. Fernando is an old friend, and I’ve known him for many years; and I had the great opportunity to reconnect with him, as well as other friends during my recent trip to Guadalajara. Alan is a Partner at Akin Gump in Geneva, Switzerland, where he represents foreign governments and multinational corporations on disputes before the WTO and other international dispute-resolution bodies. Alan was born and raised in Colombia and attended Georgetown for his bachelor's and JD degrees. In our conversation, he talks about his experience as an International student and attending some Hoyas games to see Mutombo and Mourning. After law school, Alan worked for the Colombian Government Trade Bureau in Washington, and this eventually led to a stint at the General Secretariat of the Andean Community. This professional formative experience allowed him to get hands-on experience with different aspects of International Economic Law, which proved helpful when joining the WTO at the Appellate Body Secretariat. Kholofelo is a Counsel at the Advisory Centre on WTO Law (ACWL) in Geneva, Switzerland, where she advises developing country Members and least-developed countries (LDCs) on all issues relating to WTO law. Kholofelo is originally from South Africa, and in our conversation, she talks about how she ended up in law school and how at one point she thought of becoming a diplomat. Her career eventually led to her getting involved with international economic law and Trade. Season 3 Episode 1 - My guest is Edward Kwakwa, Assistant Director General at WIPO. This is the first episode of our third season. The second season did not go as planned, and I ended up recording very few episodes. That is something that I really want to fix this season. To kickstart it, I am honored to host Edward Kwakwa. We have been meaning to have this conversation for some time now, and I am delighted we finally managed to sit down and talk. Edward has had a pretty International life, born in Ghana and then traveling to Canada and the US to study. He worked in a US law firm for some time and eventually made his way to Geneva. Season 2 Episode 4 - My guest is Manuel Sanchez, the CEO, and founder of Enloya, he is also a very good friend. Although we have known each other for many years, I tried to explore some new ground during our conversation. There are certainly many parallels between his professional life and mine, so hopefully, this turned out to be insightful and interesting. Manuel talks about how he got interested in International Public Law, and specifically Economic Law, pretty early on and how this brought him to Geneva. He also shares his experience working for the Mexican Government, mainly in Anti-Dumping proceedings. After his LL.M. at Georgetown, he made his way back to Geneva, where he worked at the WTO, and also happened to be the point in time where I met him.
