Stu Thomson is the founder of what is now know as Cut Media. You may be familiar with the name Cut Media as the creators of the most iconic/viral mountain bike films of all time including Danny MacAskill's Imaginate, Wee Day Out, The Ridge and also the recent Focus Bikes Designed For Down campaign plus tonnes more. During the episode we take a deep dive into Stu's history in mountain biking which, started out with racing downhill under the team 'The Clan' that his Dad started to help out fellow Scottish racers, onto racing world cups and then how he got involved with marketing, film making and the evolution of Cut Media. It was really interesting to hear about how he first met Danny MacAskill and some of the behind the scenes info from the Imaginate shoot. Stu shares a pretty wild hard drive story which I think is every content creators worst nightmare! Russ Pierre is just one of those guys that's a pleasure to sit and chat with. Russ and I met at Freedom Ride back in July and I just knew I had to get him on the podcast. Russ was one of the founders of Upgrade Bikes and witnessed first hand the formation of DMR back in 1995. He has also worked as a professional surf photographer and helped rehabilitate veterans suffering with PTSD. Russ is currently writing a book called The Trailhead Project which documents the effects mountain biking can have on living a healthy lifestyle physically and mentally. Matt Macduff is a professional mountain bike rider and action sports athlete from BC, Canada. You may remember Matt first appeared on the podcast back in November 2018 for episode #061. Since Matt's first appearance we have stayed good friends, Matt and I often share book recommendations, articles and podcasts with each other and a few months ago I sent Matt a book title that I thought he'd enjoy. The book was called 'Breathe' by James Nestor, Matt downloaded the audio book while I bought myself the hardback version and we thought it would be a good idea to catch up for a chat when we'd both read the book.

The concept for this podcast came about by pure chance. Initially, I was going to go on Matt's podcast (The Matt Macduff Show) and talk about my podcast journey with the goal of then discussing our experiences and takeaways from this book. However, as the conversation unfolded and ideas formed we decided to share the audio file and post it on both platforms. The aim is to get our listeners involved with future books and to potentially continue this format as a monthly show.

This is a very varied and open episode which took us two days to record. We would both love to hear your feedback and wether you would like to hear more of this type of podcast.
