In what will go down as a historic business failure, CNN recently blundered in attempting to launch its streaming media product CNN+, but it’s not what you think it is. Media reports reported it superficially as an example of bad talent, content, and messaging. But to millions of Americans, CNN’s misstep was much more glaring—even stupid. It failed to target or even mention Latinos in its network rollout. Why is that such a stupendous mistake? Math—basic math and a changing America that CNN has apparently not caught up with.
