So one of our shorts from our review of the Cessationist film caught the attention of cessationist Justin Peters. He’s provided a video response, so we’ll examine the arguments he and his guest Chris Rosebrough present.
Jeremiah 32:6-8 ESV
6 Jeremiah said, “The word of the Lord came to me: 7 Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you and say, ‘Buy my field that is at Anathoth, for the right of redemption by purchase is yours.’ 8 Then Hanamel my cousin came to me in the court of the guard, in accordance with the word of the Lord, and said to me, ‘Buy my field that is at Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, for the right of possession and redemption is yours; buy it for yourself.’ Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord.

Is the King James Version Too Archaic? @markwardonwords Shares Study Results Nov 28, 2023

Show notes

mark ward kjv bible study project | king james version | king james bible | king james only debate | king james bible only | kjv translation | kjv vs other translations debate
Mark Ward ( @markwardonwords ) asserts that the difficulties for vital understanding caused by the archaism of the King James Version are more important than the textual differences valued by KJV-only proponents. To evaluate his assertion, he conducted the King James Bible Study Project, a national phone survey of 100 pastors who preach and teach exclusively from the King James Bible that ran from November 2022 through April 2023.
We'll talk with Mark and hear the results of his study project.

The 12 Patriarchs and the Dead Sea Scrolls: Interview with Ken Johnson Nov 14, 2023

Show notes

Ancient patriarchs and the Bible | ancient patriarchs and the Talmud | ancient patriarchs and the Dead Sea Scrolls | who are the ancient patriarchs? | testaments of the ancient patriarchs | extra Biblical sources of Jesus
The Talmud teaches that the ancient patriarchs were all prophets, and that each one of them left testaments for their descendants to read. These contain commands for their children, moral lessons, and prophecy. This legend is not only repeated among the Essene community, but fragments of twenty such records have been found in the Dead Sea scrolls.
Ken’s book, Ancient Testaments of the Patriarchs: Autobiographies from the Dead Sea Scrolls, shares the testaments of Enos (Adam’s grandson), Enoch, Lamech (Noah’s father), Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Levi, Judah, Naphtali, Joseph, Benjamin, Kohath (son of Levi, and father of Amram), Amram (father of Moses, Aaron, and Miriam), and Aaron. In addition, he addresses many extra-biblical prophecies of the Messiah, including Aaron’s warning about the Messiah's First Coming.

Responding to the "Cessationist" Documentary - Part #6 Nov 02, 2023

Show notes

Responding to the "Cessationist" Documentary - Part #6 | Cessationist Movie Review
In this episode of The Remnant Radio, your theology podcast, we bring an insightful response to cessationist views and responding to the Cessationist film, while also exploring charismatic theology.
Section One: Prophecy's Ambiguity
Is prophecy always clear, exact, and infallible? We challenge this cessationist belief by examining biblical passages like Numbers 12, 1 Samuel 3, and Jeremiah 32. Discover why we argue that God's communication sometimes requires discernment and isn't always straightforward.
Section Two: Modern Prophecy and Discernment
With the rise of false prophets on digital platforms, like YouTube, we'll discuss the importance of heightened discernment and self-regulation in the charismatic community. Key scriptures like Deuteronomy 13 and 18 will shed light on the ethical implications of false prophecy and the grace needed for well-intentioned prophets who make mistakes.
Section Three: Democratization of Prophetic Roles
We'll explore the transformation of prophetic roles from the Old to the New Testament. Our hosts suggest that a democratization has occurred, opening the gift of prophecy to all believers. This inclusivity highlights the importance of discernment. While the prophetic function remains consistent, modern prophetic messages require distinct methods of discernment and testing.
Don't miss this comprehensive episode where we dismantle cessationist arguments, unravel the complexities of charismatic theology, and find the balance between upholding the integrity of Scripture and valuing spiritual gifts. Join us today as theology meets real-world application!

Show notes

Join The Remnant Radio for a theological discussion with R.L. Solberg and his book addressing the questions: Are Christians required to keep the Law of Moses? Are Christians required to keep the Ten Commandments? Was Jesus divine?
R. L. Solberg is an author, apologist, and professor of theology. He runs an apologetics/teaching ministry called Defending the Biblical Roots of Christianity and is a leading Christian apologist against Torahism (aka Hebrew Roots, Torah-observant Christianity), which is a teaching that followers of Jesus are required to keep the Old Testament Law. He has been pursuing theology, apologetics, and philosophy formally and informally for more than two decades.
We'll hear him discuss Torahism and other critical questions related to the Jewish roots of the Christian faith.
