A letter from Kevin- I am grateful for my friendship with the Haney Family. I am also grateful for the friendship and opportunity to sponsor Brock for almost four years. Alcohol and drug addiction is a baffling and insidious disease. It takes much more than will power alone to stay sober. To understand alcohol and drug addiction one must first realize that drugs and alcohol are only a symptom. Many issues need to be addressed. More often than not in the LGBTQ+ community sexuality is an issue including but not limited to shame, guilt remorse and denial. Being able to share these issues in an understanding and accepting environment is paramount. Being sober is a start. Learning to live sober is a lifelong commitment. For many in the LGBTQ+ recovery community drugs and alcohol became part of a vicious life style. Being able to live, work and socialize within our community and as importantly in the community at large is a critical component for success. I was born in Buenos Aires in 1970. My father was born in Sicily. My mother was Argentinean of Spanish descend. At age 20 I moved to Wellington, NZ to study at Victoria University. I started working for a bungie jumping co, AJ Hacket Bungie with which i traveled throughout the South Pacific, South East Asia and Latin America. I ended up opening an operation in Acapulco Mexico where I lived for 3 years. After meeting my first American partner in ACA I moved to the US where i got hired by s mortgage company to developed a computer system. I lived in Sunny Isles for 6 yeas. The system was purchased by a company from Long Island, NY. I moved to NYC and live there for 12 years. I came to treatment to west palm beach 3 years ago and stayed in Fort Lauderdale. I was a very "functional" addict for many years. Had a career and success but was a mess inside. I went from pot to coke to meth. I used meth for 5 and it was downhill from there specially the last year when i started shooting it. I have 3 years of recovery and 7 months clean.

Joshua Shea is a former pornography addict-turned-expert on a mission to get the world talking about pornography addiction, and the potential ramifications being a porn addict can cause. He's given a TED Talk, and written three books on the subject. His latest book, Porn and the Pandemic: How Three Months in 2020 Changed Everything was released in July 2020. It looks at how the world of online pornography changed overnight during the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak with analysis and interviews from current and former pornography addicts, "cam models" who use sites like Chaturbate and OnlyFans, and a bevy of mental health and addiction professionals. Online pornography exploded during the pandemic right under most people's noses. He is also the author of The Addiction Nobody Will Talk About: How I Let My Pornography Addiction Hurt People and Destroy Relationships (2018), a memoir about his descent during the final days of his addiction and He’s a Porn Addict…Now What? (2019) written for female partners of male porn addicts who are grappling with the revelation their loved one is an addict. It was co-written with Tony Overbay, LMFT Shea has given more interviews about pornography addiction than anybody on this planet since 2018. He has appeared on over 200 podcasts, television and radio shows using his personal story to promote the ideas that porn addiction spans all demographics and those with a problem should seek help before it’s too late, as it became in his case.
