Red Bull’s 2024 car: A new trendsetter or a gamble too far? Feb 15, 2024
    Show notes

Edd Straw is joined by a trio of guests to talk about reigning world champions Red Bull, who finally revealed its 2024 challenger - the RB20 - to the world on Thursday. First, Edd is joined on the ground at the launch by TV commentator Nelson Valkenburg, who gives his feedback on an 'uneasy' event for Red Bull (what with the ongoing investigations around team boss Christian Horner) and a Dutch perspective on Max Verstappen's mentality heading into 2024. Next, Edd is joined by former F1 technical director Gary Anderson, who explains why he's shocked by Red Bull's new machine, why he doesn't expect it to look the same in testing next week, and the danger of it being a gamble too far. And finally, it's back to the launch event, as Edd is joined by Mark Hughes to assess Red Bull's prospects in 2024.

Ferrari: Will '95 per cent new' F1 car be good enough? Feb 13, 2024
    Show notes

Scott Mitchell-Malm and Ben Anderson join Edd Straw for a chat on all things Ferrari, after the Italian team opted for a low-key launch of its new car, the SF-24. They discuss how the Scuderia are shaping up for this season, the potentially worrying aspect of its new car that leaves Ferrari as a clear outlier compared to its main rivals, and how much the shadow of 2025 signing Lewis Hamilton hung over launch proceedings. We also hear from former F1 technical director Gary Anderson, who provides an assessment of all the major changes Ferrari have introduced to its machine this year, and how big an impact they’re likely to have on bringing it closer to Red Bull in 2024.

    Show notes

Mark Hughes and former F1 technical director Gary Anderson join Edd Straw to pore over the new Aston Martin AMR24, which was unveiled ahead of a shakedown at Silverstone on Monday. They discuss how it has evolved from its predecessor, and what clues it offers up about the new Mercedes, with which it shares several parts. And finally, there's chat about where Aston might be in the pecking order in 2024, and about the future of Fernando Alonso, who is entering the final year of his deal with Aston Martin and might now be on Mercedes' radar, given Lewis Hamilton's impending move to Ferrari.

Limp launch, confusing identity - but will Red Bull's no.2 team be quick? Feb 09, 2024
    Show notes

Scott Mitchell-Malm and Ben Anderson join Edd Straw to reflect on the snappily titled Visa Cash App RB F1 Team's limp car launch, which took place in Las Vegas - not that fans could watch it. They discuss how a team looking to re-launch itself with a new identity could get it so wrong, why its indicative of wider changes in Red Bull, and whether everything points to this team ultimately being for sale. We also hear from former F1 technical director Gary Anderson, who casts an expert eye over the new car and explains how it's evolved, before discussion turns to whether the team - now with a stronger, potentially controversial relationship to sister squad Red Bull Racing - will move up the pecking order in 2024.

Alpine's new car concept: Big gains or more of the same? Feb 07, 2024
    Show notes

Edd Straw is joined by a host of guests to review Alpine's 2024 F1 car launch and cast an eye over its new challenger: The A524. After that, Edd catches up with Mark Hughes and former F1 technical director Gary Anderson, who pick over the finer details of the largely black machine and help answer the question of whether all the major changes the team have made will add up to a more competitive showing in 2024.

New colours, new hope for 'aggressive' Sauber and ambitious Williams Feb 06, 2024
    Show notes

Scott Mitchell-Malm joins Edd Straw to round up the latest news and look back at the latest pair of F1 launch events. First, Edd reports back from the Sauber/Stake F1 Team launch event in London, where the team took the covers off the striking black and fluro green C44. We hear from technical director James Key, drivers Zhou Guanyu and Valtteri Bottas, and team representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi, while former F1 technical director Gary Anderson provides a technical assessment of the new car. After that, Scott and Edd turn their attention to Williams - and drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant - after the team revealed a brand-new livery (if not a new car) at a season launch event in New York. And before we cover both launches, there's also a news update about Christian Horner being placed under investigation by Red Bull.

What the Andretti rejection means for F1 Feb 03, 2024
    Show notes

Scott Mitchell-Malm and Glenn Freeman join Edd Straw to discuss the news that Formula 1 has rejected the bid for a new General Motors-backed Andretti Global entry, despite the FIA’s prior approval. They meticulously pick through the reasons F1 gave for rejecting the American team's bid for a grid slot (and the validity of those reasons), explain what the Andretti camp's reaction has been, and debate what's likely to happen next in this long-running saga. They also discuss the optics of the rejection, whether they feel it was fair, and how it's likely to be viewed by fans, many of whom were clearly keen to see an 11th team on the grid.
