    Kiefer Sutherland has been acting since the ‘80s in films like Stand By Me, The Lost Boys and Flatliners. You might also know him for his Emmy-winning performance as Jack Bauer on the Fox series 24. But what you might not know about him is that he’s also a musician. On his new country album, Bloor Street, Sutherland pays homage to his hometown of Toronto. The actor and musician joined Tom Power to talk about storytelling in film and music — and what inspired him to go down memory lane for his latest record.

    Back in 2020, Tracey Deer’s debut feature film Beans made its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. It’s a coming-of-age story based on Deer’s own experience as a young girl living in Kahnawá:ke during the 1990 Oka Crisis. Since its premiere two years ago, Beans has gained international attention and won the Canadian Screen Award for best picture in 2021. The director joined Tom Power to talk about what it meant for her to finally tell a story she’s been determined to share since that traumatic summer in 1990.

    Peter Doig is one of the most respected figurative painters of our time — and it's his depictions of Canada that have become the most famous and financially successful. Just last November, Doig sold one of his pieces, titled Swamped, for $39 million US, which placed him among the world’s top-selling living artists.
