Ep210 Imposter No More: Overcoming Self-Doubt and Stepping Forward as a Psychedelic Coach Apr 11, 2023
    Show notes

Are you feeling the call to serve as a coach in the psychedelic space but something's holding you back? Let's talk about the top four reasons why people get the jitters when it comes to jumping into this vibrant and emerging field!

    1. FEAR.

    2. Self-Doubt

    3. Criticism

    4. Safety Concerns

Firstly, it's natural to feel some fear of the unknown. After all, the psychedelic space is still relatively new, and who knows what kind of experiences you might encounter? But guess what? The unknown is where the magic happens, and that's why we need courageous folks like you to step up and pave the way.

Secondly, self-doubt can be a buzzkill for even the most badass coaches out there. But let me tell you something, my friend. You are exactly who the world needs right now. You've got the passion, the empathy, and the skills to guide people through these transformative experiences. So channel your inner rockstar and go show the world what you're made of.

Thirdly, haters gonna hate. It's a sad fact, but some people just don't get it. They might try to bring you down, or question your motives, but don't let them dim your shine. You've got a purpose, a calling, and a unique set of skills that only you can bring to the table. So embrace your inner unicorn, and show the world what you're capable of.

Lastly, safety concerns can be a real buzzkill when it comes to stepping up as a coach in the psychedelic space. But let me tell you, with proper training, support, and self-care, you've got this. You're a rockstar, a trailblazer, and a psychedelic warrior. So go forth, and help to shape the future of this emerging field.

In summary, don't let fear, self-doubt, haters, or safety concerns hold you back from serving as a coach in the psychedelic space. You've got a unique set of skills, a perspective that nobody else has, and a language that only those you are destined to serve can hear. So go out there and inspire, uplift, and transform lives like the rockstar coach that you are!

Ep209 What To Do When A Client Has A Hard Time After A Psychedelic Experience: Apr 11, 2023
    Show notes

In this episode of The Psychedelic Coach Podcast, Tah and Kole Whitty dive deep into the factors that can contribute to a difficult experience on psychedelics and the important role that a facilitator or coach can play in helping their client integrate a difficult experience.

Factors Contributing to Difficult Psychedelic Experiences:

    • Taking too high of a dose of a psychedelic substance can overwhelm a person's ability to process the experience, leading to intense and difficult emotions and physical discomfort.

    • The environment in which a person takes a psychedelic substance can greatly impact their experience. If they are in an unfamiliar or uncomfortable setting, they may feel anxious or paranoid. Additionally, if they are in a negative state of mind (known as "set"), this can also influence their experience.

    • Individuals with a history of trauma or mental health issues may be more vulnerable to having difficult experiences on psychedelics. These experiences can trigger past traumas or exacerbate existing mental health conditions.

    • Having a supportive and experienced trip sitter or group can make a significant difference in how a person processes their psychedelic experience. Without support, a person may feel isolated or overwhelmed.

    • Integration refers to the process of making sense of a psychedelic experience and incorporating it into one's life. Without proper integration, a person may struggle to make sense of their experience and may experience difficulty processing it.

Role of a Facilitator or Coach in Integration:

    • Establishing a safe and supportive space for the client to process their experience. This can involve creating clear boundaries, active listening, and being empathetic and supportive.

    • Developing a plan for integration, which can involve setting intentions, identifying areas of personal growth, and creating an action plan for making positive changes.

    • Providing resources and support such as books, podcasts, meditation practices, or referrals to other professionals such as therapists or support groups.

    • Encouraging self-reflection and self-care practices such as journaling, mindfulness, or exercise.

    • Offering follow-up sessions to check in on the client's progress and offer additional support and guidance as needed.

In general, it is important for individuals to approach psychedelic experiences with caution and seek appropriate support and guidance. Psychedelic experiences can be transformative and healing, but they can also be challenging and potentially dangerous if not approached with care. Facilitators and coaches can play an important role in helping clients integrate difficult psychedelic experiences in a healthy and productive way.

Ep208 What Are Your Emotions Telling You Apr 05, 2023
    Show notes

In this episode of The Psychedelic Coach Podcast with Tah and Kole Whitty, we explore the power of emotions and how they can guide us towards a life of ease or disease. We discuss the importance of understanding and navigating our emotions to achieve emotional awareness and intelligence.

    Main points:

    • Empathy is a gift and a skill that we all possess as empathetic beings.
    • Happiness can be disruptive to those not in the same vibrational tone.
    • Emotions are energy in motion, and they are vibrational tones that move through us and guide us towards ease or disease.
    • Safety, connection, and fulfillment are the three points that determine whether we are moving towards ease or disease.
    • Emotional clutter can pull us away from the multiple emotions that we have.
    • We are often told that our emotions are too much or inconvenient, causing us to hold them in.
    • The first step towards emotional awareness is to be with your emotions and remove the idea that they don't belong there.
    • Our emotions are always there, and if we're feeling confusion or any other emotion, we must navigate them and have conversations with ourselves or others.
    • Emotional navigation is essential in the psychedelic community to ensure that we can coach others through their emotions authentically.
    • The Condor Approach is an excellent opportunity to learn new tools and navigate your emotions.

    Show notes

In this episode of the Psychedelic Coach podcast, Tah Whitty introduces the concept of the Oppression Trap Triangle at The Condor Approach Live In Salt Lake City, Utah, an adaptation of the age-old Drama Triangle. The Drama Triangle comprises the three core human archetypes of the victim, villain, and victor, which are the foundation of human drama and the traps that people get caught up in.

Tah introduces the concept of the Oppression Umbrella, which refers to opposing pressure, without the judgment of good or bad. He explains that there are three types of oppression: suppression, repression, and depression, and that it's important to remove any judgment from these types of oppression to understand them more objectively.

Tah stresses that it's important to understand the dynamics of the Oppression Trap Triangle and recognize when we are playing one of these roles. He explains that it's easy to get trapped in this triangle, and that it's important to be aware of these patterns and work to break free from them.

Ep205 Adewale Speaks - From Football To Freedom Mar 22, 2023
    Show notes

Host Kole Witty welcomes Adewale to the Psychedelic Coach podcast and dives deep into his personal journey of spiritual evolution and how The Condor Approach completely elevated his growth. Adewale shares how he moved from St. Louis to Utah for college and how being in nature and seeing the beauty of the Utah mountains helped him change and evolve spiritually.

Adewale talks about how football was everything for him at that time, but a car accident when he was 19 changed his perspective. This experience made him realize the value of life and the things he took for granted. He later moved to LA for the NFL draft but felt lost and struggled to train for football. Adewale discovered psychedelics and how they helped him with his mental health and emotional healing.

Adewale shares how being a salesman taught him the power of manifestation and how it shifted something within him. He became more confident and saw the power of his voice. Adewale learned about plant medicine and tried it, which opened up something in him. He saw visuals and heard the water saying, "you are me. We are we. You are a God." This experience corrected his understanding of reality.

Later, Adewale learned about Alan Watts, Terence McKenna, and Baba Kilindi, and a mentor named Ankhara taught him a lot about Baba. Adewale became a student and started trying the information he learned. This process helped him understand himself and the boundaries within him, his power, and how he must be right within himself to move forward in life. He also learned that he is a human and a soul living a human experience, and he's here to evolve and enlighten himself.

Adewale believes that the energy of plant medicine helped him understand himself better, and he now moves in a timeline of flow. Kole, the host, points out that the symbolism of water and flow resonates with Adewale's story. She mentions that sales, like the banks of a river, guides and directs people, creating a container for flow.

The episode offers a deep dive into Adewale's personal journey and the role of psychedelics in his spiritual evolution and emotional healing. It also emphasizes the importance of understanding oneself and the boundaries within oneself, as well as the power of manifestation and the law of attraction.

Don't Get Scammed: What Every Potential Psychedelic Therapist Needs to Know

Introduction: In this episode of The Psychedelic Coach Podcast, your host Kole Whitty talks about how to avoid being scammed in the emerging field of psychedelic therapy. If you are a psychotherapist or aspire to become a psychedelic psychotherapist, Kole will share some things you may not have considered that are already happening and likely to increase in the coming years.

Medicalized, Decriminalized, and Legalized Models: Kole explains that there are different models for psychedelic care: medicalized, decriminalized, and legalized. None of them is a total solution, and each has its problems.

Limitations of Medicalized Models: Kole focuses on the limitations of medicalized models of care, where participants must qualify for treatment based on predetermined criteria. This means that only certain populations will have access to care due to location and financial access.

Challenges for Psychedelic Therapists: Kole emphasizes the challenges that psychedelic therapists may face, such as finding a qualified mental health practitioner in areas where they are scarce, and dealing with insurance and billing issues. Additionally, certified training programs can have waitlists of up to a year, and even after completing the program, there is no guarantee of employment due to the legal status of psychedelics at the federal level.

Conclusion: Kole warns potential psychedelic therapists to be aware of the challenges and potential scams in the field, but also encourages them to continue pursuing their passion for helping people. She believes that with education and collaboration, the psychedelic therapy community can overcome these challenges and make a positive impact on people's lives.

Ep203 How to Hold Space- The Basics Mar 14, 2023
    Show notes

The Psychedelic Coach Podcast's episode "How to Hold Space- The Basics" with host Tah talks about the importance of holding space in various contexts. Tah explains that holding space means providing a container where another person can express themselves, without any judgment, coaching, advising, or opinions from the space holder. Instead, the space holder witnesses the other person's full expression, allowing everything to move through them without any interruption or interjection. Tah emphasizes that holding space is a gift and a skill that people can learn, particularly in coaching, psychedelic integration, intimacy, family, and business contexts. He cautions that overstepping one's space and looking to fix things can reinforce the oppression trap triangle, where the victim complex is fortified, and people stay stuck. Tah also shares the importance of having a flat, non-moving face when holding space.

The podcast episode is full of insightful and helpful tips about holding space. Here are some of the highlights:

    • Holding space is the final frontier that everyone, particularly coaches, psychedelic integration coaches, intimacy coaches, family members, and partners, should learn.
    • "Holding space is tremendously important, and it's a very vogue word phrase."
    • When holding space, the space holder should provide a container for the other person's full expression, outside of judgment, coaching, advising, or opinions.
    • "I am witnessing a person be in their full expression."
    • Holding space is a gift and a skill that people can learn.
    • "Another person's process is not my process, it's their process."
    • Overstepping one's space and looking to fix things can reinforce the oppression trap triangle, where the victim complex is fortified, and people stay stuck.
    • "Being able to hold yourself together and listen. Objectively without moving your face around in horror is a skill."
    • Having a flat, non-moving face when holding space is called Spaceface.

This episode is an excellent resource for anyone interested in learning how to hold space. Tah's insights and tips are valuable for coaches, psychedelic integration coaches, intimacy coaches, family members, partners, and anyone who wants to improve their listening and witnessing skills.
