    Show notes

Fred stopped by The Protectors to talk about his career in counterrorism; hunting some of the world’s most elusive & deadly terrorists. Fred also talks writing and being the chief security officer of one of the world’s foremost civilian intelligence outlets. Listen in…

From Stratfor: Fred Burton is one of the world's foremost authorities on security and terrorism. He oversees Stratfor's analysis of global security developments and consults with clients on security-related issues affecting their business assets or personal safety. He also guides the firm's coverage of situations involving terrorism, hostages, hijackings and plane crashes. Mr. Burton is the author of four books, including the best-selling memoir, GHOST: Confessions of a Counterterrorism Agent (Random House, 2008), in which he tells the story of his role in the fight against the burgeoning terrorist threat in the 1980s and beyond. #76 | Dale Dye | Veteran | Actor | Military Consultant Dec 19, 2019
    Show notes

Dale joined The Protectors to talk about his military experience, bringing “reality” to Hollywood as a military consultant, writing, and his famous roles. Listen in..

From Dale’s Site: I didn’t set out to be an actor. My goal in coming to Hollywood was to change the way war movies were made, and so technical advising was my planned route to get that agenda moving. As I would take actors into the field, however, and train them to be believable military men and women on screen, directors started to notice that I was already doing what I was training them to do…so why not cut out the middle-man and just give one of the roles to me? I gave it a shot and found that I loved it.

About Dale’s company Warriors Inc.: Captain Dale A. Dye, USMC (Ret) came to Hollywood with a vision. He had a single mission in mind…to change how American civilians view the common grunt. Having been around infantrymen all his life and having been one himself, he knew that the majority are intelligent, creative, and full of heart…and the image of the dumb cannon-fodder blindly following orders not only was not true…but was a grave disservice to those brave servicemen who had risked and often gave their lives so that our nation could survive and prosper. So he looked for the best medium available to reach the hearts and minds of the public, and chose the film and television industry to spread his message.

    #75 | Aaron Hale | E.O.D Fudge Dec 11, 2019
    Show notes

Very honored to have Aaron Hale join The Protectors to talk about his business, E.O.D. Fudge, his marathon running, and the incredible story of how he built a life with his wife McKayla. Listen in…

From their story: When Aaron could not see or hear: “McKayla with no other way to communicate, began a method where she would draw words into the palm of his hand, one single letter at a time. "The road to recovery was slow, and I had no idea how serious it was until we realized Aaron lost his hearing," McKayla says.”

About Aaron: After six years as an expert EOD Technician in the military, Aaron Hale became blind the moment an unseen IED exploded in his face in Afghanistan in December of 2011. In the years that followed, Aaron rehabilitated himself to an extent most sighted people would envy – running marathons, climbing mountains, and even solo white water kayaking.

About E.O.D. Fudge; (the letters standing for Extra Ordinary Delights), the name not only serving as a nod to the years Aaron spent as an EOD Tech in the military but to the perfectionism with which he approached that former position. "I want to be the best at what I do," Aaron states, "and E.O.D. Fudge to be the best fudge in the world." Now with cochlear implants to help him hear, Aaron, along with the help of McKayla’s extensive experience in branding and business development, are setting their goals high, with plans in the works for a commercial kitchen and partnerships with big name distributors.

Aaron also supports Building Homes for Heroes.

    #71 | Don Bramer | Veteran | American Freedom Fund Dec 01, 2019
    Show notes

A great chat with Don Bramer about the fantastic organization he oversees, the American Freedom Fund. A nonprofit that empowers veterans through a mission of athletics, education, and advocacy. Next week is their annual Manhattans, Martinis & Mistletoe Veterans Awards Gala in Washington, DC. Tickets are still available for this great cause!

What is the American Freedom Fund? American Freedom Fund (AFF), 501(c)(19), was founded in 2016 by three combat veterans, LT Don Bramer, MAJ Rob Miller, and Petty Officer Gabe Stecker. After their individual tours of duty, they sought a way to continue serving their brothers and sisters in arms by providing the Veteran community the opportunity; the means to maintain the fellowship; and the support of the military as they transition towards their next career. AFF empowers Active Duty, Reserve and Separated Service Members through a mission of athletics, education, and advocacy. The goal of AFF is simple: provide a place for active duty and Veteran service members to come together in a spirit of camaraderie to participate in recreational AND competitive sports; to afford the means and opportunity for student Veterans who seek a career in defense or public policy to achieve the next step in their goals; and to raise awareness and financial support for Veteran focused organizations that are providing crucial resources for Veterans in the community.

#70 | Ryan Manion | Author | The Knock at the Door Nov 27, 2019
    Show notes

Honored to have Ryan Manion on The Protectors w/Jason Piccolo. Ryan and I discussed her book, understanding grief, the Travis Manion Foundation, and living in New Jersey. Ryan is a true inspiration. The book, The Knock at the Door: Three Gold Star Families Bonded by Grief and Purpose, is available now wherever books are sold.

About the Book: This book is for anyone who has ever received a knock at the door. And if you live long enough and have the courage to love others, you will. Maybe it's a cancer diagnosis. Maybe it's the death of your best friend. The betrayal of a spouse. The loss of a child. The implosion of a professional career. Or any tragedy that takes the person we love the most away from us too soon. Life is not without its challenges. The key is how you respond. This is our story. The story of three women, bonded by grief and purpose. Grief because we lost our best friends in war. Purpose because we resolved — together — to do something about it. To turn loss into inspiration for others and to channel the love that we had for the men in our lives into love for others through service. It was the only way we could escape the trap of despair and inaction, and we believe it offers a roadmap for anyone else who has ever had to answer a knock at the door.

#69 | Zack Hughes | Green Beret & COO of Elite Meet Nov 24, 2019
    Show notes

Great chat with Zack Hughes. We talk about his background, Elite Meet, and the importance of networking post-military. Zack is the COO of Elite Meet, a non-profit that helps “connect these elite veterans [SOF & fighter pilots] with high quality employment opportunities.” Listen in…

About Elite Meet: Ever wondered what Navy SEALs, fighter pilots and other elite veterans do once they leave the military? They go job hunting, just like everybody else looking for a new career. Except special operators and fighter pilots have spent on average 10 or more prime income earning years out of today’s offices and businesses and inside of combat units that demand all of their time, leaving no room for post-military career exploration until their separation is upon them; finding their place in the civilian world can be as big a challenge as anything they have faced in training or in combat. Elite Meet was founded in 2017 to connect these elite veterans with high quality employment opportunities.
