Many episodes also go behind the scenes with writers, from debut novelists to New York Times bestsellers, on the stories behind their books.

Honest, curious, and unscripted, these are the kinds of conversations you’ll want to hear all the way through.

    #135 | Matt Hesse | FitOps Founder May 31, 2020
    Show notes

Matt Hesse joined The Protectors to discuss FitOps, building a program to empower veterans, teaming up with John Cena, and tons of other great topics. Thanks Matt!

Matt Hesse & FitOps: FitOps Foundation was founded by Army Veteran Matt Hesse, the CEO of Performix and an Army veteran. Through his professional life, he has built brands that put customers at the center, where they are surrounded by innovation to become their best selves. FitOps is the philanthropic extension of that work, focused on helping his fellow veterans find stability, success and community in the fitness industry.

About Fit Ops: FitOps was founded on the belief that fitness is transformative to every aspect of our lives. To be humble and hungry for success in being our physical best is a mindset that can be brought into both personal and professional relationships.

We don’t believe that any service member starts from scratch professionally when they enter civilian life--in fact, quite the opposite. FitOps is specifically designed to build on the fitness and leadership experience that veterans gained during their time in the service. The result is Certified Veteran Fitness Operatives (CVFOs) who guide themselves and their clients on a path toward being their personal best--in fitness and in life.

    #133 | Jason Patton | Fire Department Chronicles May 29, 2020
    Show notes

Jason Patton from The Fire Department Chronicles stopped by The Protectors to talk comedy skits, mental health, alcohol-infused coffee (including my fav...RUM!!) and tons of other great topics. Jason is is huge proponent of finding ways for the Protector community to mentally heal, including his support & work with Banyan Treatment Centers. .

From Banyan's Site: Jason Patton is a Mental Health and Addiction Advocate and Firefighter in South Florida. Jason helps lessen the stigma of people struggling with mental health disorders and substance use disorders through community outreach and speaking across the country in partnership with our nationwide addiction treatment centers. His wildly popular “Firefighter Chronicles” is a series of YouTube and Instagram videos featuring the day in the life of a first responder. His videos have garnered millions of views and over 800,000 followers. Jason found a way to connect with fellow first responders, firefighters, EMTs, and police officers through comic relief and light-hearted, humorous sketches of life behind the scenes of these demanding jobs.

Jason wants his followers and friends to know they can come to him for help and he will work to find the right resources for them. Especially for first responders who regularly face high stress and traumatic situations, addiction and mental health problems are common. Instead of struggling with these issues alone, Jason encourages people to get professional help including first responders treatment programs that are specific to people in these professions. Jason’s larger than life personality and positive outlook on life helps millions of men and women who are secretly struggling feel better about themselves knowing they are not alone and help is a phone call away.

    #132 | Forensic | Deputy Hook' Em May 26, 2020
    Show notes

Forensic AKA Deputy Hook’ Em stopped by The Protectors to talk about his career, music, humanizing the badge, and tons of other great topics. Forensic’s new single Relentless is out now on Spotify. PS: Shout out to my friends at Notch Gear and Cruise Customs.

About: If there was one person who could step into the Hip Hop realm and begin to make waves, a cop would be the last person you’d expect. Forensic is a rap artist and active law enforcement officer from California. Forensic uses both his career as a law enforcement officer and his musical talent to give a voice to his brother’s and sister’s in blue as well to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the communities which they serve.

For Forensic, music is not only something he enjoys, but something he feels he needs to do. “I use my music as a means to vent my frustration, to vent the frustrations of my brothers and sisters who do this job across the world, and give them a voice,” Forensic said during an interview with Studio West Recording Studio in San Diego. Forensic focuses his efforts outside of music into community policing by working with an organization named Humanizing the Badge to leave positive impacts within communities across the United States. Through this organization, Forensic has organized community clean ups, met with anti-police protestors to engage in open dialogue and hosted forums with youth to discuss law enforcement/community relations. After two full length albums, Forensic looks to continue to break barriers in the music scene while also continuing to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

    #131 | Christina Meredith | Author | CinderGirl May 24, 2020
    Show notes

Survivor, advocate, warrior. Three words I use to describe “CinderGirl” Christina Meredith. Christina stopped by The Protectors to talk about growing up in the foster system, being homeless, becoming a Soldier then U.S. Army Officer, and beyond. Join us on Monday. Streaming on YouTube, Vimeo, and all major podcast platforms. Thank you Christina. Honored.

About CinderGirl: Born into a large working-class family in upstate New York, Christina Meredith endured years of abuse before entering the foster care system as a teenager. With nowhere to turn after she graduated from high school, Christina lived in her car for almost a year, working three jobs to survive.

As she prayed in her car every day, Christina had no idea that in just a few years, she would be crowned Ms. California. She had no idea that her suffering would one day help others find healing. But she did know that she was destined for more and she would not give up hope no matter the circumstance.

In CinderGirl, Christina tells her piercing and poignant story of leaving behind homelessness to become Ms. California and the founder of a nonprofit organization that provides advocacy for foster care children. With stunning vulnerability, Christina invites us into her childhood home and the heart of a child longing to be loved. She asks us to journey with her across the country and deep into a growing faith. She invites us to dig deeper into our own personal courage, even in the most grim of conditions.

CinderGirl is the riveting story of one young woman’s determination to overcome hardship in order to help others know they are not alone and that they too can achieve anything they dream.
