    Spaghetti Western month continues with a look at Sergio Corbucci's The Great Silence (1968). The film stars Jean-Louis Trintingant as the titular Silence, a mute gunfighter who shoots the thumbs off his enemies. He's pitted against the appropriately named Loco (Klaus Kinski) in a snow-bound Utah town in one of the most nihilistic films you may enjoy.
    Maitland McDonagh and Ivo Ritzer join Mike to discuss the film and, unfortunately, discuss how it still has such a powerful resonance even today.

    Sci-Fi Month rolls on with a deep dive into Steven Spielberg’s iconic Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977). This film weaves together three gripping tales: first, cartographer-turned-investigator David Laughlin (Bob Balaban) and French scientist Claude Lacombe (François Truffaut) chase the mystery of alien contact; next, single mother Julian Guiler (Melinda Dillon) faces the unimaginable when her son, Barry, is abducted by otherworldly visitors; and finally, Roy Neary (Richard Dreyfuss), a man lost in the monotony of life, finds his world forever changed after a close encounter that leaves him haunted by visions of an alien invitation.
    Mike is joined by Suzen Tekla Kruglnska and El Goro to explore this sci-fi masterpiece. The episode features exclusive interviews with production designer Joe Alves, screenwriter Matthew Robbins, second assistant director Jim Bloom, and special effects legend Douglas Trumbull.

It’s the story of a band of god’s workers who have stolen a map that allows them to travel through time. Along the way they meet a young lad named Kevin (Craig Warnock) whose parents ignore him. He joins the titular Time Bandits on their adventures as they run from god and into the arms of Satan. Michael Palin and Mike Edmonds join Mike, along with guest co-hosts Eric J. Peterson and Maurice Bursztynski, to discuss the film.
