The Boss ES5 has arrived! Not that I even get to plug it in in this episode, but it's here! Today I'm going back over some Michael Brecker solos, and working on some time and sound things with the looper.

A little look inside the programming of the HX Stomp from Line6. I'm looking at having this as one of two multi effects units on the board, both to be controlled by the Boss ES-5.

I love it when something compositional comes out of a practice session, and today was one of those days.

I'm always appreciative of the consistency and fluidity playing a show gives you. Especially the very next day when I feel invincible on the instrument and can push the upper levels of my ability during my practice session.

I was checking out the Animals as Leaders song "An Infinite Regression" from their 2011 release - Weightless. The opening lick is a grouping of 6 notes using a double thumb technique that I think sounds super original on guitar. I know Victor Wooten, one of my heroes and good friends, is one of the pioneers of this technique for bass, so it might seem to weird to come at it from a guitar standpoint. Besides getting to two or three legitimate starting points for possible compositions today, I started working on some quasi flamenco technique on the right hand.

Always feels good coming back to practicing after a little break. But that doesn't meant everything flows the way you want it to, as is evidenced by the exercise I start working on halfway through this episode.
