    The Pipes Magazine Radio Show is a 1-hour talk show where we interview different pipe and tobacco industry people and chat about all the different aspects of smoking a pipe, and trying different pipe tobaccos.

    Our featured interview tonight is with Ezekiel Rogucki. Ezekiel is a 26-year old graphic designer from Ohio and is part of our new series of pipe smokers that are under the age of 30. His partner likes to smoke cigars, but when Ezekiel tried them he felt they were too harsh, and that led him to smoking pipes. He has three pet snakes and says he has "a profound interest in wildlife and the natural world and the sometimes-unnatural world." At the top of the show, we’ll have an “Ask the Pipemaker” segment with pipe artisan Jeff Gracik.

    Our featured interview tonight is with Pipe Maker Brad Pohlmann. Brad has been crafting pipes for decades. His pipes are works of art and masterpieces in engineering. You’ll often find exotic woods, horn and bamboo as accents on Brad’s pipes. He now shares a workshop with fellow pipe maker Silver Gray. At the top of the show Brian will discuss the best way to sell pipes that you no longer want.

    Our featured interview tonight is with Parks Turner. Brian recently called for pipe smokers under the age of 30 that wanted to be interviewed. Parks is 24-years old, grew up in rural Georgia, and is a third-generation Presbyterian pastor. He recently received his Master of Divinity Degree. Parks was always fascinated with pipes. He would pretend to smoke a corn cob pipe when he was just seven, and started smoking pipes for real when he was 18 years of age. At the top of the show we will have an Ask the Tobacco Blender segment with Jeremy Reeves. Jeremy is the Head Blender at Cornell & Diehl, which is one of the most popular boutique pipe tobacco companies in the USA.


    610: Donovan Broadway - Under 30 Pipe Smoker. Brian's Sandblasted Tsuishu Satou Pipes. May 21, 2024

    Our featured interview tonight is with Donovan Broadway. Last week, Brian called for pipe smokers under the age of 30 that wanted to be interviewed. Donavan is 28, grew up in Nashville and started smoking a pipe during the pandemic. During quarantine, along with his brother they came up with a comic series. The character Donovan created was "an older, wiser gentleman", so it was decided that he should smoke a pipe. This lead to Donovan's interest in actually smoking a pipe. At the top of the show, we will continue the virtual tour of Brian's pipe collection with the Sandblasted Tsuishu Satou pipes. (Tsuishu are very thin multi-colored layers of Japanese lacquer that takes months to produce.)

    Our featured interview tonight is with pipe maker Anthony Hopkins. Anthony makes the Castle Briars pipe brand. Anthony became interested in pipe smoking from observing his English and music teachers. He started smoking a pipe as a senior in high school, and then made two pipes in wood shop. He went off to college to become a mechanical engineer, and built a career in the field, but never forgot about pipes. He realized that a great deal of engineering goes into the making of a pipe, and in 2019 started researching pipe making. Then in 2020 he started making pipes. At the top of the show, we’ll have an “Ask the Pipemaker” segment with pipe artisan Jeff Gracik.

    Our featured interview tonight is with Nathan Davis of Greywoodie Fame. Nathan has been known as one of the biggest fans of Kaywoodie, and now he owns the company. Nathan started as a collector of Kaywoodie, then became a dealer and launched his Greywoodie site. Kaywoodie is a 173 year old company owned by the same family for four generations until now. He goes by CrashTheGrey in the Pipes Magazine forums, and is also the organizer of the Capitaland Pipe Show, and has his own podcast. We'll hear first hand about his exciting journey, and what he has planned for the future of Kaywoodie. At the top of the show, Brian will dispel some myths about the bottom of the pipe bowl.


    607: Pipe Maker Brian Laurent. Tobacco Blender Jeremy Reeves. Apr 30, 2024

    Our featured interview tonight is with pipe maker Brian Laurent. Brian has worked with his hands since he was 14-years old. He's been a woodworker for over 20 years. After he became a pipe smoker, he started making pipe racks, and then graduated to making pipes. He also enjoys painting, working on hot rods, cooking and baking. For his regular job he is a dental technician, implant specialist, and full mouth reconstruction specialist. At the top of the show we will have an Ask the Tobacco Blender segment with Jeremy Reeves. Jeremy is the Head Blender at Cornell & Diehl, which is one of the most popular boutique pipe tobacco companies in the USA.


    606: Per Jensen with New Blending Tobaccos. Seasonal Tobaccos. Apr 23, 2024

    Our featured interview tonight is with Per George Jensen. Most pipe enthusiasts know Per as the longtime Mac Baren Tobacco Company spokesman. Last year he made some changes in his life. He got married, moved to Germany and parted ways with Mac Baren, but not with the tobacco business. He is consulting with Sutliff Tobacco Co., and he created the popular and unique signature tobacco series, “Pipe Force”. Tonight's discussion will include details on Per’s line of blending tobacco, which has something for everyone. You can smoke them straight, but if you want to blend tobaccos, we will have some good advice on this episode. At the top of the show, since it's springtime, Brian will discuss seasonal tobaccos and answer two questions that come up often.

    Our featured interview tonight is with Pete Prevost. Pete is a pipe maker and the President of the BriarWorks pipe factory in Columbia Tennessee. BriarWorks is a a pipe maker co-op with several other pipe makers, including Todd Johnson, who co-founded it with Pete. Brian and Pete will be talking about what's new at BriarWorks, and how they are getting ready to attend the Chicago pipe show. (This was recorded before the show that took place last weekend.) At the top of the show, Brian will give his report of his travels and what happened at the Chicago show.
