Harper Is Heating Up May 09, 2024
    Show notes

The Phillies snapped an 11-game winning streak at Citizens Bank Park with a loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday, but they still have the best record in baseball. They have it, even though Bryce Harper hasn't been on one of his trademark hot stretches yet.

But Harper might be heating up. A recent conversation he had with Trea Turner might've gotten him going.

The gang talks about Harper's recent at-bats, plus Bryson Stott's move to shortstop, Spencer Turnbull's role in the bullpen and the team's upcoming trip to Miami.

Life without Trea May 06, 2024
    Show notes

The Phillies have the best record in baseball. It is their best start since 1995. Everything is going smoothly. Right? Well, they learned Saturday that Trea Turner will miss at least six weeks with a strained left hamstring.

How well are the Phillies positioned to handle Turner's loss?

Taijuan Walker is back in the rotation. Walker's return has bumped Spencer Turnbull to the bullpen, but even Walker said Turnbull will be back at some point. Ruben, Jim and Todd discuss a "problem" that most teams would love to have. The gang looks ahead at this week's series against the Blue Jays, and Ruben shows everybody an awesome piece of Amaro family baseball memorabilia.

Pat Burrell joins the show! May 02, 2024
    Show notes

Pat Burrell led the Philadelphia Phillies' 2008 World Series championship parade down Broad Street. Now, he's a hitting coach with the San Francisco Giants.

The Phillies and Giants play a four-game series beginning Friday night at Citizens Bank Park. Pat spent time this week with Ruben, Jim and Todd. He told some great Phillies stories, shared his incredible insight on his new job as Giants hitting coach and discussed his journey to sobriety.

A truly enjoyable conversation with the former Phillies left fielder.

    Alec Bohm's Breakout Apr 29, 2024
    Show notes

The Phillies just swept the Padres in San Diego. They're tied with the Yankees for the third-best record in baseball. They're hot. But nobody in the Phillies lineup is hotter than Alec Bohm. He had 20 home runs and 97 RBIs last season, but is this the year he truly breaks out, makes an All-Star team and maybe even picks up a NL MVP vote or two? Ruben, Jim and Todd discuss his development, both offensively and defensively.

Of course, Ranger Suarez's ridiculous 32-inning scoreless streak is discussed, as well as Taijuan Walker's 2024 debut on Sunday in San Diego.

Stay for some great beat writer hijinks at the end.

    The Rotation Apr 26, 2024
    Show notes

The Phillies rotation continues to roll, and people are starting to compare this group to the 2011 Phillies rotation, which is one of the best single-season performances by any rotation in baseball history. Ruben, Jim and Todd compare the two.

Todd shares a story about the time Roy Halladay almost killed him with a look.

Taijuan Walker rejoins the rotation. How long is his leash? Ruben thinks it isn't that long.

Plus, some talk about the upcoming series at Petco Park, and more.

Ranger Is Rising Apr 18, 2024
    Show notes

Ranger Suárez tossed his second career shutout on Tuesday. Do the Phillies have the best 1-2-3 combo of any rotation in baseball? The gang discusses it, plus the imminent return of Taijuan Walker and what it means for Spencer Turnbull, and what's behind Johan Rojas' recent improvements at the plate.

Time to Get Rollin' Apr 15, 2024
    Show notes

The Phillies are still trying to find their footing offensively. Ruben has an interesting theory why they've started slowly. Jim and Todd dig into the slow start as well as they look ahead to what should be a big week against the Rockies and White Sox.

Chasing Chase Rate Apr 11, 2024
    Show notes

A few Phillies made some illuminating comments toward the end of a successful road trip this week in St. Louis. Specifically, they've been too tentative at the plate. Could the team's emphasis on reducing their chase rate taken away some of their aggressiveness at the plate?

    Celestial Oddities Apr 08, 2024
    Show notes

The solar eclipse is here, but there is more important issues to discuss. Like the Phillies' base running. How do you clean it up without sacrificing the players' aggressiveness? Also, what Spencer Strider's injury means to the Phillies and baseball, and continued concerns about Johan Rojas.
