The Penumbra Podcast — Arts
The Penumbra Podcast

At the Penumbra, you might follow Juno Steel, a brooding, sharp-witted private eye on Mars, as he tangles with an elusive homme fatale, tracks dangerous artifacts of an ancient alien civilization, and faces his three greatest fears: heights, blood, and relationships.

Or you might enter the world of the Second Citadel, where the merciless Sir Caroline must corral a team of emotionally distraught all-male knights to defend their city against mind-manipulating monsters…even the ones they’ve fallen in love with.

Or you might tune into the not-too-distant future of Thirst, a future America somehow even worse than the present, where four couples must survive a dangerous reality TV competition designed by a sadistic host and a cheerfully violent Algorithm.

These audio dramas and more await you in the Penumbra, dear traveler. We hope you enjoy your stay. (Start with “1.01: Juno Steel and the Case of the Murderous Mask” to follow the Juno Steel series, “1.09: Second Citadel – The Head of the Janus Beast” to follow the Second Citadel series, or “THIRST S1E1: Icebreaker” to listen to the Thirst series. Or, listen from oldest to newest to hear everything as we released it.)

Holiday Special: The Miracle of Eight Dec 15, 2020

Show notes

In the days following the fall of the First Citadel, humanity's last survivors looked to their Saints for guidance through drought, exhaustion, and famine. And many, many years later, four humans and a lizard-bug-man-thing found themselves with a daunting task of their own: to make it through a family dinner without driving each other completely insane.

Which had it harder? It's a toss-up, honestly.

Welcome to the Penumbra, dear Traveler. We hope you enjoy your stay.

3.21: Juno Steel and What Lies Beyond (Part 1) Nov 24, 2020

Show notes

Juno Steel has been feeling a little out-of-body, lately. Kind of like... well, it's been so busy he hasn't even had time to listen to his own thoughts. But the day of a wedding demands reflection: on where we came from, and where we are going.

And at the end of a good thing, is there any question scarier than "where are we going?"

Welcome to the Penumbra, dear Traveler. We hope you enjoy your stay.

3.18: Juno Steel and the Heart of It All (Part 2) Oct 13, 2020

Show notes

A legend can only die when the stories surrounding it stop being told. But a life, even one that generates legends in its time... a life is very, very fragile.

Which is worth saving, then? A legend that will go on for ages... or a life, fleeting and delicate and precious?

3.17: Juno Steel and the Heart of It All (Part 1) Sep 29, 2020

Show notes

It's showtime -- and what a show lies ahead of us. Tonight we steal a legend, darlings, and no one in this galaxy is more prepared for the task than we. Why, nothing could stop any one of us, I should think, which does raise an interesting question: if none of us can be stopped, what happens if one of us attempts to do the stopping?

Welcome to the Penumbra, darlings. I do hope you enjoy your stay.
