    Scarlet Rivera is one of the world's foremost violinists, a performing and recording artist and a composer. Her recordings feature her original style and compositions. Scarlet Rivera has performed in front of audiences in the United States, Eruope and Asia. She has toured with a diverse number of artists: Bob Dylan, Tracy Chapman, The Duke Ellington Orchestra and others. As a contributing recording artist, she has been featured on albums such as Bob Dylan's records "Desire" and "Hard Rain," Dee Dee Bridgewater's album "Just Family" or Tracy Chapman's album "Crossroads." Her own discography features styles that would include New Age, World and Celtic music.

    It’s a great pleasure to welcome singer, performing and recording artist Jane Monheit. The Paul Leslie Hour is now in our 15th year as of this very episode.

    Occasionally in the world of music a recording artist like Jane Monheit comes along who sing a song and make it their own. Our guest is a Grammy nominated vocalist, Stephen Holden of The New York Times wrote that she has "a voice of phenomenal beauty." Her recent album The Songbook Sessions: Ella Fitzgerald pays tribute to one of her biggest influences as an artist.

    It's an incredible honor to welcome Jane Monheit, an artist of incredible integrity and esteem. She's on The Paul Leslie Hour and we find this a good reason to celebrate.

    You could say that John O’Hurley is a seasoned and accomplished performer, but his forms of expression cannot be limited by a single medium. No, John O’Hurley is an artist. You may have seen John O’Hurley on stage as Billy Flynn in the beloved musical “Chicago,” a role he has performed over 1,000 times. In the popular culture, O’Hurley is well known as J. Peterman, Elaine’s eccentric and verbose boss on 22 episodes of “Seinfeld.”

    John O’Hurley was in the very first season of “Dancing with the Stars,” and also hosted “Family Feud” from 2006 to 2011.

    He has pursued other creative outlets as well. He’s written two books and John O’Hurley’s lifelong love of melodies has resulted in two albums of his musical compositions: “Secrets From the Lake,” and “Peace of Our Minds.” John O’Hurley is a man who believes in the powers of imagination. His perspectives are well worth your attention! It's all here on The Paul Leslie Hour.

    Wynn Varble has written some of the top songs in country music. An award-winning hit songwriter Varble's songs have been cut by some of the top recording artists in music: Brad Paisley, Garth Brooks, Lee Ann Womack, Kellie Pickler, Gary Allan and the late Chris LeDoux just to name a few. Although a couple of his titles have been #1 songs for other singers, Wynn Varble is also a performing and recording artist in his own right. He performs his clever, heartfelt songs around the country.

    Paul Shaffer, legendary musical director of The CBS Orchestra on The Late Show with David Letterman and before that The World's Most Dangerous Band on Late Night with David Letterman has had a storied musical existence. A multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter, Paul Shaffer has performed with just about everyone. 2017 saw the release of his first album in 24 years, PAUL SHAFFER & THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS BAND.

    Hit songwriter Roger Cook gives a rare interview about his life as a songwriter. An inductee of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Roger Cook has written songs in the pop and country genre. Some of his well known songs include “Long Cool Woman in a Blue Dress,” recorded by the Hollies, “I Believe In You” and “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” made popular by Coca-Cola.

    Some of the songs Roger Cook wrote include “You’ve Got Your Troubles” recorded by the Fortunes, “Good Times, Better Times,” recorded by Cliff Richard, “Home Lovin’ Woman” recorded by Andy Williams, “Something’s Gotten Hold of My Heart” by Gene Pitney and others. He co-wrote “I Just Want to Dance with You” with John Prine. Prine recorded it and then it went on to become a major hit for George Strait in 1998.

    Cook has also been a recording artist in his own right. His albums include “Study,” “Meanwhile Back at the World,” “Minstrel in Flight” and “Alright.”

    Roger Cook is not only a great songwriter, he’s a great interview subject as you will soon hear...and it's only on The Paul Leslie Hour.
