    S10|09 - Power of Belief Mar 10, 2025
    Show notes

Thoughts create our reality- but our beliefs shape everything. Our attachment to those thoughts, especially the ones about US and our identity matters most. As we do the work of non-attachment, recognize beliefs we hold, and shift them- we feel success on the inside and manifest it on the outside.

    In today’s episode you’ll hear:

    • Why our beliefs matter so much, and how to tap into the subconscious ones (so much more than the regular “thought work”).
    • What is blocking us from the success we want (and how to shift it).
    • The Big Leap’s Upper Limit Problem (and it’s connection to shame work).
    • Doing the inner work, “success is an inside job”.

I would love to support you 1:1 over the next 12 months, deep-diving into everything I talked about today: www.coachcrystal.ca/miracle

S10|08 - How to Prep for Kids Moving Out Mar 03, 2025
    Show notes

I just came back from visiting our ‘adult’ child and pondering on what has made our relationship successful and connected- and what helped with his readiness to move out. On the episode today I’ll share 3 things that are integral to a healthy parent-child relationship, and how we can prep emotionally for them moving out- in a way that benefits them.

    In today’s episode:

    • Our story of a child moving out, and how the experience has been for all of us (you don’t have to follow the typical stories you hear about hard phases of parenting).
    • How to build trust in your child and their path (even in their mistakes and failures).
    • How to separate in a healthy way (non-attachment here, one of my fave things to discuss) which leaves room for true connection- our goal.

    S10|07 - The Way of Play with Georgie Wisen-Vincent Feb 24, 2025
    Show notes

Why is play so crucial, and what do our kids miss out when play is not prioritized? Is it important for us, as adults too? Georgie Wisen-Vincent, LMFT, RPT-S, ECMHS is a nationally recognized play therapy expert and co-author (with Dr. Tina Payne Bryson) of the new book -- THE WAY OF PLAY, and she joins me today to tackle these questions and more.

    In this episode:

    • How to engage your kids in play, in a way that promotes connection and flow
    • What kids learn from play, and how we can use play to teach them important life skills like empathy, boundaries, and managing conflict
    • How play can be important for adults (and a healthy little rant from me about inner child healing)
    • What skills and development kids miss when play isn’t available to them

    S10|06 - Trust Your Kids Feb 17, 2025
    Show notes

If I were to write a parenting book THIS would be my thesis. It’s one thing I find missing in the parenting sphere… what if we trusted our kids more? Why don’t we? What was our childhood around trusting ourselves, our body, our wisdom… and how is that playing out in our own parenting? Join me today in this workshop-style episode, where we’ll really get to the root of distrust, and learn why it’s integral for a wholesome childhood.

    In today’s episode:

    • I announce that The Parenting Coach Podcast, after 200+ episodes and over 100,000 downloads is retiring (and why)
    • We dig into trust in our own childhood, and what beliefs we might still be storing in our mind that block us from trusting our kids
    • Trust energy is much more than actions or words, and our children FEEL it
    • Our role in parenting, and what we can do to foster a healthy environment for our child-plant to grow.

    S10|05 - Better Screen Time, a Slow-tech Conversation with Andrea Davis Feb 10, 2025
    Show notes

How do you balance kids’ natural curiosity and imaginative play with the constantly evolving tech and screens? When is too early, or too late to give your teen or tween a smartphone? We dig into this important and necessary conversation today on the podcast with Andrea Davis from Better Screen Time.

Andrea is a former secondary ed teacher turned screen-time-navigator. She is the founder of Better Screen Time where she shares family-tested ideas from the (tech) trenches as a mom of five. She is on a mission to help parents take the slow tech road.

    In this episode:

    • Teaching smart screen use to your teens and tweens in a healthy way, without shame or fear
    • How modelling our own tech use makes a difference in theirs
    • Using your intuition when it comes to slow tech in your home, your plan doesn’t have to look like others
    • How to know if your tweens or teens are ready for a smartphone
    • Building your child’s internal filter, so you don’t have to rely so heavily on external ones.

    S10|04 - How to Raise an Un-Rebellious Teen Feb 03, 2025
    Show notes

The other day I was chatting with my teens about staying up late, and the thought came to me: “They don’t rebel because they have nothing to rebel against”. I’m not advocating for boundary-less and teaching-less homes… but you may be surprised to hear that you can parent teens without the rebellion, and with a deep and connected relationship, that lasts long past teenage-hood, and throughout their lifetime. Let’s start where I end the episode, “You’ll never regret loving them more”- me.

    In today’s episode:

    • My teen years, and how relationship and emotional safety impacted my rebellious-ness
    • How parenting teens doesn’t need to be hard, and rebellion doesn’t need to be part of the path
    • The magic of connection, communication and trust in cultivating a great relationship with your teen
    • “Kids do well if they can”- digging into what’s happening below the surface of behaviour, instead of leaning into control (ie. rewards and punishments).
    • How to believe and trust our teens, and in doing so increase our influence

    S10|03 - Moving Through Grief — A Somatic Experience Jan 27, 2025
    Show notes

This fun episode is an interview with me! I get asked all the questions you might ask me too… what has your journey been like? How did you get where you are now? What do you do and how does it help people? You’ll hear me help my friend and fellow coach, Sarah Bond, process through grief in a different way than you’ve likely heard before. Let’s dig in!

    What we chat about today:

    • Why I don’t coach the same way that I used to, and what I found that has been more effective for me
    • Why emotions need to be processed in the body, and not in the mind
    • We move through an inner child/somatic practice to help with grief… and it takes us in an expected, but beautiful direction.
    • Choosing from abundance, instead of lack, to find your next area of growth… “healing is remembering”

S10|02 - Movement and Play in Parenting with Dr. Lori Baudino Jan 20, 2025
    Show notes

Kids are movers… they are meant to move, and their movement is always communicating to us. We can use this knowledge to help them through fears, worries and stressors, as we integrate both their brain and bodies. We can begin to view children as the wise souls that they are and believe that they know what their bodies need.

Join me in this conversation today with Dr. Lori Baudino, who has been a practicing clinician for over 20 years. Her work is grounded in the belief that the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected. Her work is helping to change the way we think about health and healing, and she is inspiring people all over the world to celebrate and move together!

    What we chat about today:

    • Body language and non-verbal communication and how we can use our kids’ typical “baseline” to see when things are going well, and when things are a little off
    • Helping kids (and ourselves) through anxiety or other stressors, using body, movement and mindfulness
    • What a top-down approach is, and how to use a bottom-up approach too (with specific ideas that you can use to help your kids today!)
