The NLP View: Arielle Essex Discusses "Practical Miracles" Mar 01, 2013
    Show notes

After seeing naturopath Arielle Essex in the film documentary The Living Matrix, many people ask, 'How did she heal her own brain tumour without medical treatment?' Convinced that resolving stress would help, Arielle's healing journey focused on how the mind and emotions affect the body. Practical Miracles explains how she applied the practical psychology of NLP to disentangle her own confusing cloud of thoughts and restore inner peace. In Practical Miracles, Arielle describes her process for facing any kind of crisis and turning it around: heal the thinking to transform the stress; don't let outside events trigger your emotions; learn how to bounce back instead of being bewildered and confused; and develop the kind of resiliency that sustains you and keeps you well, no matter what happens. Having faced her own crisis, Arielle knows the kind of questions people really want to ask: How can I make a miracle happen when I need one?How could this have happened to me, and why now?How is it possible that my thoughts have contributed to this? How can I resolve this problem and get rid of it right now?How is it possible to forgive the unforgivable and let go? Tune in to this segment of The NLP View Radio Show, as host, Donna Blinston, R.N./RGN is joined by author, Arielle Essex to discuss her best-selling book Practical Miracles Choices: that Heal and Build Resilience and her speciality of mind/body psychology using NLP. Turk Pipkin’s Nobelity Project and “Building Hope” Feb 28, 2013
    Show notes

Regardless of all of the problems in this world, there are the rare few people who equate to modern day saints. These are people who begin with an act of kindness then take it to the next level. They not only dream about making a change but make it happen. What if your goals and aspirations led you on a mission that not only changed your life, but positively impacted the lives of people in an entire village as well as generations to come? Such is the case with writer and filmmaker, Turk Pipkin who has documented his beautiful experience in the award-winning film (and companion book) called, Building Hope, The Story of Mahiga Hope High School and the Nobelity Project. The Nobelity Project is a nonprofit organization that works with Nobel laureates and other leaders to advocate basic rights for children across the globe. Founded by Turk and Christy Pipkin in 2006, while producing the film Nobelity, the organization’s mission is to develop schools in Kenya. The Nobelity Project’s Kenya School Fund continues to build classrooms, water systems, libraries and computer labs at schools across rural Kenya. Mahiga is where the Nobelity Project began in 2005. After the initial installation of a small rainwater collection system and a secured computer lab, Turk returned to Kenya in 2008 to visit Mahiga. The hard work had indeed paid off! Water borne illness was down and school attendance was up! It was clear this community was ready to support their children by working for a better future. However, with no secondary school within walking distance, and no resources to send their children to a distant boarding school, most of these kids were facing the end of their schooling at the end of the 8th grade. Enter the Nobelity project! Tune in to this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, as host, June Stoyer is joined by Turk Pipkin as he discusses how a small group of people worked together to changes the lives of an entire community!Stay tuned!

The Neonicotinoid View: The Impact Of Sulfoxaflor Feb 27, 2013
    Show notes

Sulfoxaflor is from the sulfamine family and is also a systemic pesticide. Sulfoxaflor is effective against a wide range of sap-feeding insects and exerts its insecticidal activity as an agonist at the insect nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR), which plays a central role in the mediation of fast excitatory synaptic transmission in the insect central nervous system. Sulfoxaflor has not been evaluated previously by the Joint FAO/WHO Meeting on Pesticide Residues and was reviewed at the present Meeting at the request of the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues. While it is not a neonicotinoid, it is systemic pesticide that targets the same neural receptors as the neonicotinoids. As we continue our special series called “The Neonicotinoid View”, hosts June Stoyer and special guest-host, Tom Theobald will be joined by Dr. Susan E. Kegley, to discuss the impact of sulfoxaflor and discuss the pros and cons of this agro-chemical. Dr. Kegley is Principal and Founder of the Pesticide Research Institute (PRI), an environmental consulting firm providing research, analysis, technical services and expert consulting on the chemistry and toxicology of pesticides. Dr. Kegley’s consulting work focuses on pollutant fate and transport; human and ecological exposure assessment and risk assessment; development of tools to assess relative risks for different pesticides; development of integrated pest management (IPM) approaches to minimize pesticide use; environmental monitoring (with a focus on air and water sampling); and analytical chemistry. She also has expertise in pesticide regulation and policy, ecotoxicology, human toxicology, and epidemiology. Dr. Kegley has a BS in Chemistry, Summa cum laude, from the University of Richmond and a PhD in organic/inorganic Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Another Insane Devotion: On the Love of Cats and Persons Feb 26, 2013
    Show notes

When his favorite cat Biscuit goes missing, Peter Trachtenberg sets out to find her. The journey takes him 700 miles and many years into his past-- into the history of his relationships with cats and the history of his relationship with his wife F., who may herself be on the verge of disappearing. What ensues is a work that recalls travel narratives from The Incredible Journey to W. G. Sebald’s The Rings of Saturn. Trachtenberg ponders the mysteries of feline intelligence (why do cats score worse on some tests than pigeons?), the origins of their domestication, their terrible treatment during the Middle Ages. He also looks at the riddle of why any of us loves whom we love and all the unforeseen places to which that devotion leads us. Tune in to this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, as host, June Stoyer is joined by author, Peter Trachtenberg to discuss his best-selling book! Stay tuned! Peter Trachtenberg has taught creative writing at the New School, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, the City College of New York, St. Mary’s College of California, the University of Iowa Summer Writers Festival, and Ashland University. He’s also taught in Bard College’s Language & Thinking Program. Since 2011, he has been an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh. He’s the recipient of a NYFA artist’s fellowship, the Nelson Algren Award for Short Fiction, a Whiting Writers Fellowship, a 2010 Fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, and a 2012 residency at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center. The Book of Calamities was given the 2009 Phi Beta Kappa Society’s Ralph Waldo Emerson Award “for scholarly studies that contribute significantly to interpretations of the intellectual and cultural condition of humanity.”

The NLP View: Why Did The Cancer Disappear? Feb 22, 2013
    Show notes

According to Cancer Research UK (24 July 2012), 1 in 3 of people will develop cancer of some sort in their lifetime, a harsh and numbing statistic. The cause of most diseases including cancer remains unknown. Treatment is therefore of the symptoms of diseases rather than the causes of the disease itself. Unsurprising, 75% of all visits to the doctor involve symptoms of illness which are based on excessive or chronic stress. Whilst medication helps in the short term, current scientific research indicates that unless chronic stress is addressed in a timely manner, further diseases are inevitably created. Ignoring the psychosocial and emotional aspects that are impacted on the individuals life produce an ever revolving cycle of mental instability that impacts on the person’s ability to function within the normal realms of well-being. Therefore the need to take responsibility for our health and well-being has never been so important. Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) is an applied psychology which investigates and reviews the circumstances that have created an individual’s current reality. This enables the individual to be charge of their own circumstances and take full responsibility (to be “At Cause”) for the situation the person has found him/herself to be in. Rather than being (“At Effect”) the result of someone/something else’s behaviour and actions. Resolving any internal conflicts around illness, identifying the root course of any limiting beliefs and clearing any ‘blockages’ the individual may have. Tune in to this segment of The NLP View Radio Show as host, Donna Blinston, RGN is joined by author, Marion Dias to discuss her best-selling book Why Did the Cancer Disappear-Become Free From Cancer & Promote Health.

How To Transplant Your Rose Garden Feb 21, 2013
    Show notes

As people move from the concrete jungle to the serenity of the country, gardening habits and routines also must change. In addition to adapting to different growing zones, plant selection and care are also critical. This especially applies to roses. Roses after all, are the most prized collection of any garden. It is said that Shakespeare once said, "Of all flowers me thinks the rose is best." In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to award winning Rosarian, Susan Fox, founder of Gaga's Garden. About Susan Fox: As an avid horticulturist holding national awards for growing prize winning roses and award winning gardens, Gaga will share her knowledge with you. A master in the art of rose growing and garden design Gaga's expertise includes speaking on growing and the care of roses to the Plano and Dallas Master Gardeners Groups. During her tenure as treasurer of the Northeastern Illinois Rose Society, her society was instrumental in having the rose named as the national flower by the President of the United States. As an avid gardener, speaker and consulting rosarian, Gaga is dedicated to perpetuating knowledge growing things the organic way in our gardens and particularly the planting and care of rose gardens. She is a past member of the board of the Dallas Rose Society and the Northeastern Illinois Rose Society.

Will The California Almond Industry Survive Without Bees? Feb 20, 2013
    Show notes

As we continue our special series called “The Neonicotinoid View”, hosts June Stoyer and Tom Theobald will be joined by Jeff Anderson the owner of California-Minnesota Honey farms, which is a commercial migratory beekeeping operation. Jeff also represents the beekeeping industry on the National Beekeeping Advisory Board and The National Pollinator Defense Fund. Today, he will discuss the critical state of California’s almond pollination industry. As predicted, the neonicotinoids have devastated commercial beekeepers to the point where they cannot recover. This has been a disaster in the making and still the EPA wants to conduct meetings to discuss the “potential threat” of systemic pesticides. Should the immediate course of action be to follow the lead of the European Union and ban neonicotinoids? Perhaps next year’s crop losses will convey the message of the global beekeeping community which is to ban the use of neonicotinoids. At this point, the United States may have lost up to 70% of its commercial honeybees even though the antiquated statistics are still holding on to a 30% estimate of losses. How much longer can the agro-chemical companies defend themselves when their systemic pesticides kill insects by design? How will beekeepers survive? The battle continues. Stay tuned!

Why American Vanadium Is The Key To Green Energy Storage Feb 19, 2013
    Show notes

The path to affordable sustainable energy, especially when it comes to efficiency and accessibility has many challenges. This is primarily because of the costs involved with production and distribution of energy. There are also many other factors to consider, such as environmental impact, safety, available resources and efficiency of the technology. While it would be great if we could simply switch to renewable energy overnight, unfortunately we still have a long transitional period ahead of us, especially if the United States is to become completely energy independent. With massive power outages impacting large segments of the population, it is obvious that we can be thrown off the grid at any time and in any location. Severe weather systems such as Hurricane Katrina, Superstorm Sandy as well as the blackout in India last July (which affected over 620 million people) have demonstrated the reality of what can be expected because of the lack of available electric energy. The key is solution is energy storage. In this segment of The Clean Energy View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to energy expert, Ron MacDonald, the Executive Chairman of American Vanadium about a historic and timely solution for providing sustainable electric energy storage. The NLP View: Is Your Relationship Unhealthy? Feb 15, 2013
    Show notes

Everyone looks for and needs a varying array of personality traits from their Mr. or Mrs. Right. Unfortunately some people are always looking for their Mr. or Mrs. Right, but he or she might not exist or worse still, the perceived Mr. or Mrs. Right does not provide the level of fulfillment desired or expected. Relationships can be complex emotional journeys of personal development, that make you question yourself as an individual, as a man or woman, as a lover and a partner. An unhealthy relationship can trap individuals in a vicious cycle of self-neglect and self-doubt. Preventing each individual from being who they want to be in the relationship may affect all areas of that person’s life. Tune in to this segment of The NLP View Radio Show, as host, Donna Blinston R.N./R.G.N, author of Psychobabble, A Straight Forward Plain English Guide to the Benefits of NLP and special guest co-host, June Stoyer to discuss how NLP can be used to enhance personal relationships.
