Although this may appear to be a local issue, the world is watching the efforts to rebuild and restore the area. Mr. McMahon will discuss some of the key lessons learned from Superstorm Sandy as well as some of the exciting changes that are being made including the new relationship with Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG). Bio: John D. McMahon was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) in April 2013. Mr. McMahon joined LIPA with over 37 years of utility experience. Mr. McMahon has served in various positions at Consolidated Edison, including 13 years in top management such as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Executive Vice President. He also spent six years as President and Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Consolidated Edison’s wholly owned subsidiary, Orange & Rockland Utilities, Inc. (“O&R”), an electric and gas utility based in Pearl River, NY. Mr. McMahon serves on various boards, including New York Law School and the Fresh Air Fund. Mr. McMahon holds degrees from Manhattan College and New York Law School and has completed the Advanced Management Programs at Wharton Business School as well as Harvard Business School.
