Dr Thomas W. Cooper: Fast Media, Media Fast Jul 26, 2011
    Show notes

When it comes to pharmaceuticals, the government requires all sorts of testing for safety. Although media is addictive in nature, there are no safety measures. Virtually everyone is dependent upon some variation of media: TV, radio, news outlets, social media, etc. For the most part, unless you live in a cave, it is very difficult to avoid exposure. Mass media clearly influences everything in our life, including the economy. When negative rumors spread about commodities, investors react drastically. Even in politics, once someone indicates candidacy for office, people react; markets react. The media clearly has a solid effect on people’s emotions and in turn our finances. This is true regardless of what the reality may be. Social media presents a unique assortment of issues because the activity can be very addictive. While people may be “engaging” socially on these sites, they are not interacting with one another in face to face. This is not only unhealthy but makes us as become disconnected. So, how can you set limitations? What can be done to constructively utilize media to create thoughts as opposed to being just a consumer of information? In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer will speak Dr Thomas W. Cooper about media overload. Dr. Cooper, is an award-winning Professor of Visual and Media Arts at Boston’s Emerson College. He previously taught at Harvard University, where he also received his B.A. A former assistant to Marshall McLuhan, he is the Co-Founder and Co-Publisher of Media Ethics magazine. Stay Tuned!

Bethany Learn: The Fit2beMama’s Alternatives For Fitness Jul 25, 2011
    Show notes

With the economy being in the current depressed state, many people are cutting corners wherever possible. One of the first to go is expensive memberships to fitness chains. Unfortunately, this is not the best solution because exercise provides an immediate release for stress. To boot, many fitness clubs are also making cutbacks on staff and equipment maintenance which can also discourage membership activity because if the machines are always broken or even worse, ridden with all sorts of bacteria, it is not really worth the money. So, what can you do? There are tons of videos and fitness shows on tv but half of the moves are not suited for the average person. After a few seconds of participation, most people tend to change the channel and resort to looking for some other alternative that is not only realistic but interactive. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer will speak to the social media sensation of fitness, Bethany Learn about alternatives to fitness. She will talk about functional fitness at home and options that are affordable and free! Stay Tuned!

Joe Cross: Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead Jul 22, 2011
    Show notes

In America, obesity has become a severe problem that affects people of all ages. While there are many diets, fitness chains and other methods to help shed unwanted pounds, sometimes, you must reach rock bottom in order to take action. One day, Joe Cross found himself, 100 pounds overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating auto-immune disease. He decided enough was enough and began his journey to good health. He decided to film his transition so that he could inspire others to do the same. Along the way, he spoke to more than 300 Americans, from all walks of life, about what they ate and (more importantly) what they didn't eat. He found a nation full of honest, hard working, friendly and caring people that just need some motivation and inspiration. His documentary, FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD is an inspiring film that chronicles Joe's personal mission to regain his health. With doctors and conventional medicines unable to help long term, Joe turns to the only option left, his body's ability to heal itself. He trades in the junk food and hits the road armed with a juicer and generator, vowing only to drink fresh fruit and vegetable juice for the next 60 days. Across 3,000 miles Joe has one goal in mind: To get off his pills and get healthy. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to Joe Cross, about his journey and how juicing can improve and restore your health. Stay tuned!

When a woman is pregnant, it should be a joyous experience. Unfortunately, for many women, regardless of the amount of medical information that is available, there is a lot of unnecessary fear and stress that is caused by misinformation. There are so many questions and so many different answers, of course, depending upon who you talk to. The book was written by three board-certified OB/GYM’s , Dr. Yvonne Bohn, Dr. Allison Hill and Dr. Alane Park, who’ve been in private practice in Los Angeles for more than a decade. Between the three, they have delivered more than 10,000 babies. Dr. Vera Krischik: Have We Created A Food Desert For Bees? Jul 20, 2011
    Show notes

There is a great deal of concern that our honeybees do not have enough food to eat because of the amount of pesticides being used. However, most homeowners do not realize that their demand for pristine lawns and continuously flowering plants that have low to zero maintenance are a huge part of the problem. The lack of food not only effect honeybees but other pollinators such as butterflies. Are we sacrificing sources of food so that our yards can be free from the site of plants such as clover, and dandelions, etc? Even roadside maintenance poses an issue as wildflowers and other beneficial plants are mowed down for aesthetics. Is there anything we can really do to keep our yards looking nice and not take away food from pollinators? In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to Dr. Vera Krischik about how we can help pollinators by practicing IPM (Integrated Pest Management) and take an active role in replenishing available food sources. Dr. Krischik is an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Entomology at the U of Minnesota and an Extension Specialist in Landscape Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Stay tuned!

However, instead of allowing the diagnosis to devastate her, she went on a mission to gather as many answers as she could as to why she and other members of her adoptive family had developed cancer in the first place. She was determined to find out what really needs to change in order to prevent other people from going through what she had. Laura Lluellyn-Lassiter “2012 Event-Fear or Fact?” Jul 13, 2011
    Show notes

Everywhere you go, people are stressed out and easily succumb to the pressure brought about by these stresses due to fear. So, what exactly is fear and how do we recognize it? Is the fear of what may or may not happen ruling how we live? What about the future and all of the conspiracy theories that have a myriad of potential outcomes? How much is conspiracy and how much is actually fabricated to instill fear in the masses? There are so many rumors around 2012 that people are succumbing to the stress inflicted by the rumors and are racing to hoard supplies as they build underground bunkers. Is this how we should be living our lives? The most recent example pertaining to the Rapture back in May made a lot of people think about what exactly they are subjecting themselves to. Is this something that serves us or is it all derived from fear? In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to spiritual healer and wildlife advocate, Laura Lluellyn-Lassiter from Soul Be It about understanding fear and coping with the stressful changes of our lives in this dynamically changing world.
