Ed Opperman joins me today for a special PPR podcast on the Las Vegas Shooting. Ed tells us about the night in question, giving us a first hand view of what was happening in Vegas. We discuss how this led to massive confusion and many of the early reports of multiple shooters and multiple incidents all over the strip. Ed also touch on Vegas police corruption, their tendency to overreact. We talk about some of the stranger theories that have emerged in the past few days on social media, and try our best to decipher them.
Ed and I also talk about some of the strange details of Stephen Paddock’s life including: his father, gambling practices, and his girlfriend Marilou Danley. We also talk about the need for calm when it comes to situations like this.

Dangerous Ground: My Friendship with a Serial Killer M. William Phelps
Anyone can become a killer under the right circumstances—even you.”
For the first time, award-winning investigative journalist M. William Phelps reveals the identity of “Raven,” the serial killer who co-starred with him on Dark Minds—and tells the story of his intriguing bond with one of America’s most disturbing killers.
In September 2011, M. William Phelps made a bold decision that would change the landscape of reality-based television—and his own life. He asked a convicted serial killer to act as a consultant for his TV series. Under the code name “Raven,” the murderer shared his insights into the minds of other killers and helped analyze their crimes. As the series became an international sensation, Raven became Phelps’s unlikely confidante, ally—and friend.
“I’m not making excuses for the eight murders I committed.”
In this deeply personal account, Phelps traces his own family’s dark history, and takes us into the heart and soul of a serial murderer. He also chronicles the complex relationship he developed with Raven. From questions about morality to Raven’s thoughts on the still-unsolved, brutal murder of Phelps’s sister-in-law, the author found himself grappling with an unwanted, unexpected, unsettling connection with a cold-blooded killer.
“It made me feel warm inside to know that I was responsible for that pain . . .”
Drawing on over 7,000 pages of letters, dozens of hours of recorded conversations, personal and Skype visits, and a friendship five years in the making, Phelps sheds new light on Raven’s bloody history, including details of an unknown victim, the location of a still-buried body—and a jaw-dropping admission. Eye-opening and provocative, Dangerous Ground is an unforgettable journey into the mind of a charming, manipulative psychopath that few would dare to know—and the determined journalist who did just that.

Timothy Holmseth - Haleigh Cummings
just woke up and our back door was wide open and we can't find our daughter! The crackling recording of seventeen year-old Misty Croslin s voice is as chilling today as it was that February night in 2009 when five year-old HaLeigh Cummings vanished without a trace from her Satsuma, Florida home. With the child s father, Ronald Cummings, ranting and cussing in the background, the young teenager struggled to concentrate as she told the operator how she awoke to find HaLeigh gone from her bed; a brick holding open the house door. The harrowing 911 call was soon looping incessantly on national television as American's sat glued to their TV sets and waited for an answer to the question. 'What happened to HaLeigh Cummings?' As satellite trucks, law enforcement and search teams descended onto the small Florida town, the texture of the case soon began to change something wasn t right in this place. The investigation that ensued was strangely secretive and ultimately led to nothing amidst whispers of drug trafficking, police corruption, threats, intimidation, child prostitution, child pornography, white slavery, organized crime, rape and murder. In March of 2009, HaLeigh s family enlisted the services of a private investigator, attorney, national advocate and media team to assist them in their dilemma. A month later the family contacted Timothy Charles Holmseth, an investigative reporter from Minnesota. What Timothy Holmseth uncovered was so dark and disturbing it was supposed to remain hidden forever. Timothy notified authorities at the county and state level but received only hostile reactions. When he began to publish the information on his website he began receiving late night telephone calls, was threatened by Florida law enforcement, and received ominous communications that spoke of his possible death. In February, 2010, the FBI contacted Timothy and requested a meeting. He was asked for audio recordings of interviews he had conducted with attorneys, private investigators, law officers, witnesses, and family members of the missing child. In Re: HaLeigh Cummings is the book that answers the question; what happened to HaLeigh Cummings? You will hear the names. You will see the faces. You will read the quotes. You will learn the methods and the motives of the underground. You will understand. You will be frightened and sick with outrage. But you will finally know what happened to HaLeigh Cummings.

Amy Vilela: Shalynne Will Not Die In Vain / Dr Ted Noel Libertarian Healthcare
Amy Vilela NV Congressional Candidate D-4 joins Ed to discuss the heart wrenching story of the death of her daughter Shalynne , due to a lapse in health insurance
.Dr Ted Noel describes his Libertarian approach to Healthcare.
Amy recounts how her daughter went to Centennial Hills Hospital in Las Vegas with incredible leg pain and was seemingly denied full treatment because she did not have health insurance. Shalynne would leave the hospital with a leg brace and instructions not to take it off except to bathe - prime conditions for her condition to deteriorate. She would be rushed to another ER 3 weeks later to a hospital where she would eventually succumb to a pulmonary embolism.
Shalynne's story is a gripping account of what is wrong with a 'for-profit' health care system. Amy has dedicated her efforts to bringing Shalynne's story to the fore in hopes others don't suffer the way her daughter did. Please visit Amy's webpage for more information of DVT - symptoms, tests to request, and more.
