The Trail of Ted Bundy: Digging Up the Untold Stories May 06, 2023
    Show notes

Within the audiobook of The Trail of Ted Bundy: Digging Up the Untold Stories, you'll hear the voices - many for the first time - of some of Ted Bundy's friends as they bring to light the secrets of what is was like to know him while he was actively involved in murder. The stories of his victims are here as well, as told by their friends, including the information and anecdotes that didn't make it into the investigative files and are being published here for the first time. Two of the former detectives who worked with author Kevin Sullivan during the writing of his widely acclaimed book return to aid listeners in fully understanding Bundy's murderous career, its ripple-effect impact on those who came into contact with him in one way or another, and dispelling commonly held myths.
The Trail of Ted Bundy is a journey back in time, to when Ted Bundy was killing young women and girls in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. It's told by those who knew him, and you'll hear their revealing stories, many being voiced for the very first time. Friends of the victims are here as well, and they, too, share their insights about the victims, and some of what they tell here had been held back from the investigators, such was their commitment to their deceased friends. It's also the story of those who hunted Bundy, those who guarded him, and those who otherwise were parts of this strange case one way or another.

Susan Sparks-Burns - They Have No Voice May 06, 2023
    Show notes

Ed is joined by Susan Sparks-Burns who is campaigning for better conditions inside the prisons in Georgia. Georgia has some of the most punitive prison conditions in the US resulting in a higher mortality and mental illness rate than almost anywhere else in the country.
She talks about the They Have No Voice movement, which represents the families and prisoners campaigning for a humane and less brutal system. She details stories from inside the prisons which may alarm.
They also focus on the sentencing and punishments dished out inside the prisons, which seem to be, at best, random.
    This is part one of a two part interview;
    From the Facebook Group
Due to the escalating incidents of violence within every prison across the state of Georgia, we pose this question; Who is held accountable as to why?
Welcome to Inside Georgia Prisons commentary forum. Our intention is to enlighten and inform you as to the unreliable and reckless policies of the Georgia Department of Corrections. Inside Georgia Prisons invites your comments on, past experiences and involvement in some of these volatile incidents of brutality and neglect where the well being of prisoners and staff alike are at risk.
Inside Georgia Prisons is open to families whose son (or daughter) have suffered inhumane treatment at the hands of another prisoner or department of Corrections (DOC) staff. We welcome comments from former and current employees and former inmates who can substantiate claims of unjust and aggressive treatment by the Georgia Department of Corrections administration.
Our purpose is to address these subject matters that are imposing additional hardship on every family affected by incarceration within the State of Georgia. Prevalent and related news articles are posted and awaiting your opinion (viewpoint). Though the DOC is a dominant organization within the State, most of the information disseminated from them is one-sided. Inside Georgia Prisons will identify this bias data and provide an honest platform for counter arguments.
We understand that society has regarded prisoners as offensive, yet they forever will remain human beings. During their incarceration many prisoners are focused upon self improvement of their past behavioral patterns. As prisoners, they still retain indisputable rights under the U.S. and State Constitution. As State taxpayers, one should ensure policy makers address important issues such as prison violence, prison overcrowding, and prison abuse.
Inside Georgia Prisons was created by advocates of those who reside and work behind Georgia prison walls and their families.

Kent McGowen - A victim of the system? May 06, 2023
    Show notes

Kent McGowen was a Texas Police officer who attended an incident involving an arrest warrant which eventually resulted in the death of a woman. He served 20 years in prison.
It was August 1992 when he executed a felony warrant while working in a sting to recover stolen firearms.
In a complex chain of events, he shot the woman in self-defence.
But the circumstances are much more intricate than the above indicates. it's a story of contacts, power play and witness tampering.
If it could happen to a serving officer, it doesn't look good for the rest of us.

Michael Rivero : The Death Of Vince Foster
This is the story that nobody dares touch. This is the story that ended my career in Hollywood back in 1994.
Despite having reported the discovery of Dr. Haut's signed report confirming the existence of a second wound to Vincent Foster's neck, radio host Rush Limbaugh to this very day refers to Vincent Foster's death as a suicide.
Even Matt Drudge, when presented with the FBI records proving that the FBI fraudulently manufactured Lisa Foster's recognition of the gun found at Fort Marcy Park, refused to get involved, opting instead for a story accusing Sidney Blumenthal of domestic violence (for which Drudge was then sued and made famous).

Life and Death of Captain Preemo or Bob Woodward vs. John Belushi and Me May 04, 2023
    Show notes

There was a knock at my door in 1978, I opened it, and there stood John Belushi. One moment earlier, I had been playing guitar on the sofa, writing a funny song, and if you had asked me who was the one person in Hollywood I wanted to meet, it would have been John Belushi, the man at my doorstep, smiling broadly.
“Are you Michael Dare?” he asked.
    “Yeah?” I replied.
    “Can I come in?”
    “You bet.”
Turned out that day was his first on the set of 1941. It was his first big Hollywood picture after the success of the low-budget Animal House, which had just come out. He was in a great mood, having just spent the day on the set with Steven Spielberg. Turned out a friend who was also working on the film had bummed a joint from me the day before. Turned out he shared it with John. Turned out John was used to New York brown Colombian dirt weed, full of seeds and sticks, and had never had anything like fresh green pungent sparkly California sensimilla. He grabbed my friend by the lapels, pinned him to the wall and said “Where did you get this?”
At this point, my life could have turned out quite different, but my friend dispensed with all the standard drug protocol and just told John all about me. Armed with my address and phone number, John ignored the latter and headed towards the former. He knew he didn’t have to call first. He was John Fucking Belushi and he knew he was welcome anywhere, especially somewhere that was a source of fine bud. He was right.
I whipped out the bong, we both took a couple of blasts, and John headed for my record collection, complaining I didn’t have enough R&B. We found stuff to listen to anyway, I sat at the piano, and he started singing. We played together for hours.
Finally, when it was time to leave, he asked me if I could get more of that pot. I said sure. He pulled out a wad of hundred dollar bills and handed them to me, saying “Take what you need,” turning his back to me to look through records, showing not a care in the world for how much money I took, an astonishing display of trust. I peeled off a couple bills and handed back the rest.
The next day, I went to my dealer and told him all about my visitor. He flipped out, took the money, gave me some pot, then asked “Do you think he might want some mushrooms? How about some hash?” before fronting me his entire inventory which I gladly accepted.
The next day John came by again, this time with Dan Aykroyd. They bought my entire stock.
The next day, John brought by another actor from the film, then another, then an Eagle, a couple of directors, the head of a studio, and basically everybody he met in Hollywood. My house became his hangout during the whole shooting of 1941.

Disclosures in the JFK Assassination Medical Evidence May 04, 2023

William Matson Law : Disclosures in the JFK Assassination Medical Evidence
Disclosures in the JFK Assassination Medical Evidence
    By William Matson Law
An oral history of the JFK autopsy
Anyone interested in the greatest mystery of the 20th century will benefit from the historic perspective of the attendees of President Kennedy's autopsy. For the first time in their own words these witnesses to history give firsthand accounts of what took place in the autopsy morgue at Bethesda, Maryland, on the night on November 22, 1963. Author William Matson Law set out on a personal quest to reach an understanding of the circumstances underpinning the assassination of John F. Kennedy. His investigation led him to the autopsy on the president's body at the National Naval Medical Center.
In the Eye of History comprises conversations with eight individuals who agreed to talk: Dennis David, Paul O'Connor, James Jenkins, Jerrol Custer, Harold Rydberg, Saundra Spencer, and ex-FBI Special Agents James Sibert and Frances O'Neill. These eyewitnesses relate their stories comprehensively, and Law allows them to tell it as they remember it without attempting to fit any pro- or anticonspiracy agenda. The book also features a DVD featuring these firsthand interviews.
William Matson Law has written for the research periodicals the Kennedy Assassination Chronicles and the Dealey Plaza Echo, is producer of the forthcoming film The Gathering, and currently serves as a consultant to film director Brian McKenna for his upcoming documentary Killing Kennedy. He lives in central Oregon.

The Martyrdom of Thomas Merton: An Investigation May 03, 2023
    Show notes

Seldom can one predict that a book will have an effect on history, but this is such a work. Merton's many biographers and the American press now say unanimously that he died from accidental electrocution. From a careful examination of the official record, including crime scene photographs that the authors have found that the investigating police in Thailand never saw, and from reading the letters of witnesses, they have discovered that the accidental electrocution conclusion is totally false. The widely repeated story that Merton had taken a shower and was therefore wet when he touched a lethal faulty fan was made up several years after the event and is completely contradicted by the evidence.Hugh Turley and David Martin identify four individuals as the primary promoters of the false accidental electrocution narrative. Another person, they show, should have been treated as a murder suspect. The most likely suspect in plotting Merton's murder, a man who was a much stronger force for peace than most people realize, they identify as the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States government.Thomas Merton was the most important Roman Catholic spiritual and anti-warfare-state writer of the 20th century. To date, he has been the subject of 28 biographies and numerous other books. Remarkably, up to now no one has looked critically at the mysterious circumstances surrounding his sudden death in Thailand. From its publication date in the 50th anniversary of his death, into the foreseeable future, this carefully researched work will be the definitive, authoritative book on how Thomas Merton died.
