Black Panther Hijacks Plane to Algeria
    Guest: Lorenzo Kom' Boa Ervin
ANARCHISM AND THE BLACK REVOLUTION-Black Panther Party For Self Defense
Lorenzo Kom'boa Ervin (born 1947) is an American writer, activist, and black anarchist. He is a former member of the Black Panther Party. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and has lived in Memphis, Tennessee, since 2010.
When he was 12, Ervin joined the NAACP youth group and participated in the sit-in protests that helped end racial segregation in Chattanooga. He was drafted during the Vietnam War and served in the army for two years, where he became an anti-war activist. In 1967 he joined the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and, a short time later, the Black Panther Party.
In February 1969, Ervin hijacked a plane to Cuba to evade prosecution for allegedly trying to kill a Ku Klux Klan leader. While in Cuba and Czechoslovakia, Ervin became disillusioned with state socialism. After several unsuccessful attempts, the American government eventually extradited Ervin and brought him to the U.S. to face trial. Ervin was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Ervin first learned about anarchism while in prison in the late 1970s. He read numerous anarchist books, and his case was adopted by the Anarchist Black Cross, a political prisoner support organization. While in prison, Ervin wrote several anarchist pamphlets, including Anarchism and the Black Revolution, which has been reprinted many times and may be his best-known work.
Eventually, Ervin's legal challenges and an international campaign led to his release from prison after 15 years.

Mia Donovan - Dope is Death
Mia Donovan is a filmmaker based in Montreal. She has written and directed three feature documentaries, INSIDE LARA ROXX (2011), DEPROGRAMMED (2015) and DOPE IS DEATH (2020). She was the recipient of the prestigious Don Haig Award for outstanding achievement as an emerging filmmaker in 2012.
In 1973, Dr. Mutulu Shakur, along with fellow Black Panthers and the Young Lords, combined community health with radical politics to create the first acupuncture detoxification program in America. This form of radical harm reduction was a revolutionary act toward the government programs that transfixed the lives of black and brown communities throughout the South Bronx. Dope is Death utilizes an abundant archive while giving us insight into how the acupuncture clinic rose to prominence and, despite funding challenges, still functions to this day. Some of those who benefited from the program became acupuncturists themselves. Dr. Mutulu's legacy is cemented within this profound story of community healing and activism.

    T.H. Johnson – Geronimo Pratt
Ed welcomes film maker and researcher T.H.Johnson to discuss the story of Geronimo Pratt.
Geronimo Pratt was a military veteran and a high-ranking member of the Black Panther Party in the United States in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
A decorated soldier, having served in Vietnam, he moved on to study at UCLA in Los Angeles under the GI Bill. Around the same time he joined the Black Panther Party. However, he became a person of interest to the FBI in their COINTELPRO operation; the aim of which was to “neutralise Pratt as an effective BPP functionary”. This led to Pratt being incarcerated for 27 years four years after he allegedly murdered Caroline Olsen in 1968. Seven of those years were spent alone in solitary confinement. His freedom was secured in 1997 with the vacation of his conviction due to the withholding of key evidence by the prosecution. Despite appeals, the vanquishing of charges was upheld after appeal.
He spent much of the rest of his life as a human rights campaigner and activist until his death in 2011.
T.H.Johnson is a researcher of note, with some truly quality work under his belt. His other projects include deep-dive films and books into the O.J. Simpson case and controversy.

Mike Rothschild - The Storm is Upon Us.
Mike Rothschild is a blogger and conspiracy debunker who works in a variety of spheres using critical thinking and psychology to examine where conspiracy theories comes from, how they evolve, the sort of people who believe in them and the logic they use, and the wider use of them to cause division and political manipulation.
In this interview with Ed he talks about his investigation into the Q phenomenon, and the impact it has had on the political and social landscape. He details more in his book The Storm is Upon Us.

Book The Storm is Upon Us
    BACKGROUND
In the run up to the 2016 election, a website called 4Chan hosted a strange channel in which a mysterious figure, purporting to be a Government insider with the codename ‘Q’, would place oblique or cryptic messages often of a prophetic nature. This continued throughout the administration of 45 and still now wields power over some of it’s audience, especially right-wingers and supporters of former President Trump.
But up until now, and probably well beyond, nothing more is known of Q, save for the ability to make predictions which don’t happen. However, the Q phenomenon has produced something interesting in the United States in the wake of January 6th and beyond, providing a life raft of belief to those unable to accept the result of the 20/20 election, whilst also demonstrating through external examination of the beliefs Q encourages, a certain detachment from critical or indeed logical thinking.

Ed Opperman talks of the Jerry Falwell jnr and R. Kelly cases
Ed Opperman talks about the R.Kelly case, and his involvement in the events which have lead to his recent incarceration.
Going back to just after the turn of the century, Ed was shocked by the 2002 release of a ‘sex tape’. It lead to an investigation. But this wasn’t the first involvement with the R. Kelly case. He’d be ahead of the crowd since 2001, and done similar work in the mid 1990s which lead to the recommendation to gather evidence in the Kelly controversy.
The story includes the alarming implication that apartment buildings inhabited by the rich and famous, are almost fortresses to protect those people from the law, should those people be up to nefarious activities. The building R.Kelly lived in, the building which was raided on the grounds that a resident may have been holding people (children) there against their will, was Trump Tower.
Ed also speaks of Jerry Falwell Jnr.
Jerry Falwell Jnr endorsed Donald Trump when he ran for President. It was a bizarre choice but later rumour surfaced about Falwell jnr’s dubious investment in a hostel which was set up in a very peculiar way. For an Evangelical Preacher it was a ‘strange’ choice. Then came the pool guy...

Mike Rothmiller - Frank Sinatra and the Mafia Murders
There can be no denying it, Frank Sinatra had one of the finest voices in the twentieth century. His modulation and glides were almost perfect, and his body of work is probably unequalled in the sheer quality of the singing.
But the man himself was legendarily short tempered, indulgent and could hold a grudge. His searing blue eyes could go from warm to cold in a flash should he not get his way. There were rumours of violence and intimidation, of sleaze and sex, of affairs and cruelty.
Ol' Blue Eyes was a veneer the public saw; behind the scenes it was a different story.
His propulsion to his historic status was aided by The Mafia, and Sinatra made sure he kept his patrons happy in almost every way he could.
But how far was Frank willing to go? How dirty did his hands get returning the favours which put him where he ended up? Mike Rothmiller has spent years looking into The Rat Pack and specifically Sinatra. What he finds is a chaotic story of an almost symbiotic relationship which veered from amicable business arrangement to fierce negotiation.

Mike Rothmiller - Chappaquiddick The Killing Of Mary Jo Kopechne Aug 28, 2023

Mike Rothmiller - Chappaquiddick The Killing Of Mary Jo Kopechne
Ed is joined by former LA Detective Mike Rothmiller to discuss Ted Kennedy’s biggest nightmare; the events surrounding the death of Mary Jo Kopechne.
The Chappaquiddick incident occurred on Chappaquiddick Island in Massachusetts some time around midnight between July 18 and 19, 1969, when Senator Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy negligently drove his car off a narrow bridge, causing it to overturn in a tidal pond. This resulted in the drowning death of his 28-year-old passenger Mary Jo Kopechne, who was trapped inside the vehicle.
Kennedy left a party on Chappaquiddick at 11:15p.m. Friday. He maintained that his intent was to immediately take Kopechne to a ferry landing and return to Edgartown, but that he accidentally made a wrong turn onto a dirt road leading to a one-lane bridge. After his car skidded off the bridge into Poucha Pond, Kennedy swam free, and maintained that he tried to rescue Kopechne from the submerged car, but that he could not. Kopechne's death could have happened any time between about 11:30p.m. Friday and 1a.m. Saturday, as an off-duty deputy sheriff stated he saw a car matching Kennedy's license plate at 12:40a.m. Kennedy left the scene and did not report the accident to police until after 10a.m. Saturday. Meanwhile, a diver recovered Kopechne's body from Kennedy's car shortly before 9a.m. Saturday.
These events curtailed the Kennedy dynasty on a permanent basis; up until then it had seemed the illusion of Camelot was in his hands, but it lay shattered beyond repair.
Mike discusses his research into the case, and his conclusions based on his experience as a detective and his investigation and research. And it’s even more surprising than it sounds.
Mike Rothmiller is a New York Times Bestselling author, historian, a former cop, and an Army medic. He’s a former TV Reporter, an award-winning documentary television producer, and television host for ESPN, PBS, and other international television markets.
