Steffan Hou - Moms of the Missing

Ed is joined in this archive show by Steffen Hou, who has spent many years studying killers, particularly those who kill children. This has resulted in his book Moms of the Missing, a sort of how to parent and look after your children, with knowledge gained from the most tragic circumstances. In the book, Mr Hou talks to those the children left behind, scarred people, ever-searching parents, guardians and family members, all with one thing in common; they hold out hope - no matter how slim and unlikely - that they will see their child again.
"Oh my God, we found a dead body." The man's voice, calling from a mountain trail in Cleveland National Forest, was frantic. "Please hurry. I'm so scared. It's a little kid." When police arrived, they were met by a horrific sight. The girl was naked and had been positioned in such a way that detectives believed the murderer had seen his kill as some kind of a trophy. As if he were showing off his "work". The little kid was Samantha Runnion, a five-year-old girl who had been abducted while playing in her parents' garden the day before.
Samantha is just one of too many American kids who disappear. Almost half a million children are reported missing every year. And all across America parents are searching for their missing children or if the worst case scenario has come to pass the person who killed them.
Moms of the Missing investigates ten abduction cases. Through personal and heartbreaking interviews with the victims, it describes how parents maintain their hopes of one day finding their children some of whom were taken by a stranger, a family member, or human traffickers. And two survivors tell what it is like to be held captive, tortured and raped, but also how they have restored life after being rescued.
Moms of the Missing explores the principal types of abductions, and not of least importance who's most likely to become a victim of the epidemic of missing children, but also how abductions can be prevented.

Samantha Spiegel: Obsession of Confessed Jon Benet Killer Speaks Out!

Samantha Spiegel is a 26 year old residing in San Francisco, California, but she is no regular young lady. Samantha is a survivor of child abuse and perhaps even SRA. She has, over the years, contacted several serial killers, including Charles Manson and Richard Allen Davis. While Ed and Samantha discuss this aspect of her life, the focus of this interview resides on her relationship with one John Mark Karr.
Karr is most famous (infamous?) for confessing to the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey. Karr and Spiegel had a very close relationship over two years - Spiegel says they were engaged to be married. Her contact with the (as rumored) transvestite Karr ended when he tried to get her to scout and deliver young children to Karr for insidious purposes.

Douglas Valentine joins Ed Opperman to discuss the CIA and in particular the Pheonix Program. The Phoenix Program for the unacquainted was a CIA generated operation that sponsored mass arrests, terrorism, torture, murder and lies during the war in Vietnam. Many of the players went on to walk the halls of the Pentagon, Congress, the Department of Homeland Security, and major National Security Corporations.

Rob McKenzie - El Golpe: US Labor, the CIA, and the Coup at Ford in Mexico

Ed is joined by Rob McKenzie, who has been researching into the scandal surrounding the CIA and the Ford Motor Company in Mexico.
Throughout the 1980s to today, on an increasing amount, American factories and jobs were being outsourced to other countries, the most widely publicised was the move by Ford Motor Company to Mexico. This desire to maximise profits and lower wage costs was tunnel visioned, and never more so than the morning of January 8 1990 when a group of drunken thugs and criminals launched an attack on the factory which culminated in the shooting of nine employees.
Rob McKenzie worked at another location for the Ford Corporation, and was disbelieving of the story when it first broke. But his curiosity got the better of him and what started as an attempt to back up a apocryphal rumour to a investigation spanning years, and his destination was not one he was expecting.
This is a tale of twists and turns, of lies and falsehoods, of misdirection and malfeasance. Ultimately it is one of corruption, power and greed.
