Merry Christmas 3: ‘The Meaning Of Christmas’ Dec 15, 2022

Show notes

This week on The Obsessed Podcast, we're playing a little bit of a Mariah Carey fantasy Christmas album game! In this game, we are creating Mariah's third (inevitable) Christmas album by choosing from iconic Christmas standards in the world's Christmas cannon. * The rules of this game go as so: There will only be 12 tracks for this album. Each of us brings six songs to the table (18 in total), and we must eliminate six of the 18 songs. If two of us have a matching song, it automatically goes onto the album. If there isn't a match, we rank each song without telling each other our rankings. At the end of our Christmas song lists, we tally up the rankings, and the highest ranked songs make our final Christmas album cut! * To take it a step further, we sequence the entire Christmas album, pick a lead single, name the album, and even pick a Japense bonus track for the Japanese lambs! * What is a Christmas standard that you would like to see Mariah cover in the future? Do you think that we picked some good songs? What songs do you think we missed, and what would you name Mariah's third Christmas album? Let us know on any of our social media platforms at The Obsessed Podcast!

Low-Key Kinda Christmas? Dec 08, 2022

Show notes

This week on The Obsessed Podcast, we're catching you up on everything that has been going on in Mariah's Christmas world in the past two weeks! Comparatively to the past three Christmas seasons, it seems like we're having a low-key kinda Christmas this year. . First off, we discuss the ICONIC W Magazine photos and interview that was just released. Did you do a double take when you first saw them? We sure did! Mariah came to slay! . Next, we discuss Mariah's performance and outfit from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and why all the casuals keep attacking Mariah for lypsyncing her performance (like everyone else performing in the parade did). Also, was Mariah throwing a bit of shade by wearing a crown (implying she was the Queen Of Christmas)? We break it all down! . We then jump into an exciting announcement that Mariah will be co-producing a new Broadway show, Some Like It Hot, opening on December 11th in NYC. We all know Mariah loves Marilyn Monroe, so we speculate what might come from this Broadway show. . We then, of course, give you an entire chart update for, All I Want For Christmas Is You. We specualte whether or not Mariah will be able to knock Taylor Swift out of the number one spot to snatch her yearly number one. . In our final topics, we jump into all of Mariah's brand deals for the 2022 Christmas season (so far), including: Booking.com, Peloton, and Mariah's live Roblox performance on December 21st! . Do you think it's been a low-key kinda Christmas this year? What did you think of Mariah's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade performance? Are you going to sign up to Peloton for Mariah's artist series, and do you think AIWFCIY will snatch that number one spot again this year?
