## CITIZEN'S ARREST?## CITIZEN'S ARREST?*In violent Brooklyn*, A female straphanger verbally harasses and kicks another woman, before insulting a Dominican man by implying he was a Muslim. Apparently incensed, the man grabbed the woman, and threw her to the floor while other passengers told him to stop. Once off the train, he further detained her on the subway platform until police arrived. She was charged with felony assault, while the man was credited with a "citizen's arrest." - links to article and video at CrimeReport.Nyc ## "I'M A MOTHER"We take a look at a similar case with key differences in which a woman becomes enraged over a seemingly minor seating issue on the subway. Video footage shows her berating an older Asian lady whom she variously claims "stole" and "pushed (her) daughter out of" a subway seat. The woman is taking up two seats herself during her berserk tirade. We listen in on the insanity and discuss the clever word choices and omissions in the Daily News coverage of the viral video. The Daily News serves as apologist for the angry mother, focussing on her tirade rather than her outlandish behavior and physical attack on the older Asian woman, who she violently shoved to the floor, and also made to spit on her. WHEN NO SEATS WERE IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE IN THE WAITING AREA, SHE SAT ON THE FLOOR. WHEN SECURITY AT THE CENTER TOLD HER TO GET UP, SHE REFUSED. POLICE WERE CALLED. JUST AS POLICE ARRIVED, HEADLEY REMOVED HER 17-MONTH-OLD SON FROM ITS STROLLER AND HELD HIM IN HER ARMS. WHEN POLICE ASKED AND ORDERED HER TO STAND UP FROM THE FLOOR, SHE REPEATEDLY REFUSED, OPTING TO BE ARRESTED RATHER THAN STAND. AS A FEMALE POLICE ATTEMPTED TO HOLD HER BABY TO ALLOW THE ARREST TO PROCEED, HEADLEY GRABBED AT THE CHILD, TIGHTENING HER GRIP AND YANKING HIM BACK AND TURNING THE ARREST INTO A TUG-OF-WAR WITH HER BABY, ENDANGERING THE WELL-BEING OF THE CHILD. DUE TO WILDLY UNFAIR AND IRRESPONSIBLE COVERAGE OF THE INCIDENT, AND SIMILARLY BIASED, ANTI-NYPD ASSESSMENTS BY OUTSPOKEN MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL (WHO EMBARRASSED REALITY WITH THEIR OVER-THE-TOP STATEMENTS ABOUT HEADLEY'S ARREST DURING A PRESS CONFERENCE), CHARGES AGAINST HEADLEY HAVE BEEN DROPPED, SHE HAS BEEN RELEASED FROM RIKERS, AND NYPD IS SOMEHOW LEFT WITH ANOTHER PR BLACK EYE, THOUGH THE OFFICERS HANDLED THE SITUATION AS PERFECTLY AS COULD BE DONE.
