Main Review: Back to the Future (1985)
Welcome to the 200th episode of the movie gang podcast. Four years ago, back in the way way back of 2016, we started this podcast as a way to keep a gang of friends together. Over the years, it has grown and expanded to include a series of podcast experiments and successes that have allowed us to stay together through the trials of our 20's and even a pandemic. I feel personally blessed to have a group of friends this supportive of me, and I know genuinely that my life is more profound and rich for having such a group be part of it. Which, in essence, is what this podcast offers to the viewer. A group of friends that can extend a small part of our friendship to you! I genuinely look forward to the next four years guys as more of us advance in our lives and experience changes, trials and opportunities to grow as we have done here. In this spirit, the gang has decided to indulge me today for our 200th episode by reviewing one of my favorite movies of all time. A film that is often a measuring stick for other content on this podcast The 1985 Robert Zemeckis seminal classic Back to the Future.
In this 1980s sci-fi classic, small-town California teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is thrown back into the '50s when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) goes awry. Traveling through time in a modified DeLorean car, Marty encounters young versions of his parents (Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson), and must make sure that they fall in love or he'll cease to exist. Even more dauntingly, Marty has to return to his own time and save the life of Doc Brown.
