    – The MOVEMENT Movement with Steven Sashen Episode 100 with Ben Patrick

By 18 Ben Patrick had 3 surgical knee alterations and was told he would never have full knee bend or play high-level sports. Now at 30, Ben has some of the most athletic and bulletproof knees in the world.

He has personally received 2113 knee success stories from others who had chronic, hopeless conditions before doing his fitness formula, which requires ZERO weights, equipment, or special abilities to start. Ben is also a proud Xero Shoes customer and his formula helps others transition their foot and lower leg strength to being able to thrive with barefoot-inspired shoes.

Listen to this episode of The MOVEMENT Movement with Ben Patrick about how to bulletproof your knees.

Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week's show:

    - Why telling people they shouldn't bend their knees over their toes is bad advice.

Are You Following Bad Barefoot Running Advice?

    – The MOVEMENT Movement with Steven Sashen Episode 099 with Jae Gruenke

Jae Gruenke is a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, running technique expert, and founder ofThe Balanced Runner™. Known as a "running form guru," she has helped runners from beginner to Olympian relieve pain and improve their performance, and she specializes in helping runners whose problems have persisted despite medical treatment.

Her interest in running technique was sparked when, as a professional dancer, she was asked to perform choreography that included sustained running in large, outdoor environments. Frustrated by how difficult and uncomfortable running felt, she began to study running technique and use the Feldenkrais Professional Training Program she was enrolled in as a laboratory to discover how to coordinate her movements so that running felt comfortable, easy, and enjoyable.

Eventually, realizing she'd come to prefer running to dancing, and also that the changes in movement that had made the difference to her running were not being taught, discussed, or researched elsewhere, she retired from dancing and launched The Balanced Runner.

Jae has been a member of the Feldenkrais Guild of North America since 1999 and the United Kingdom since 2011, and was an ACE-certified personal trainer from 1999-2012. As a Assistant Clinical Professor in the Physical Therapy Program at SUNY Downstate Medical center in New York City she helped develop an (unpublished) pilot study on the effects of the Feldenkrais Method on running economy.

Listen to this episode of The MOVEMENT Movement with Jae Gruenke about avoiding the wrong barefoot running advice.

Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week's show:

    - What the Feldenkrais Method is and how it can help runners.

    - How good organization in the body depends on what people are doing.

    - Why running cues and movement cues are problematic and don't work.

    - How most people misinterpret "stable your core" and go too far with it.

    - Why your arms shouldn't be swinging back and forth while you run.

Secrets of Successful Running with Dr. Romanov's Pose Method

    – The MOVEMENT Movement with Steven Sashen Episode 097 with Dr. Nicholas Romanov

Dr. Nicholas Romanov graduated with Honors in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. As a teacher he later discovered that while there was plenty of instruction on techniques in other sports, in running there was instead an eclectic collection of ideas. The Pose Method was developed out of necessity in 1977. It is now widely popular among recreational and elite runners and triathletes, practiced by professional athletes, used by Physical Therapists that appreciate its framework for preventing and treating running related injuries.

In October of 2020, after 11 years of active implementation, the Pose Method became the running method of choice for the US Army and included in the official Army Field Manual (FM 7-22). Dr. Romanov's books are sold worldwide and "The Running Revolution" (Penguin Random House) became a bestseller translated to 12 languages. As a sports scientist and an Olympic Coach, Dr. Romanov is on a mission to advance the science of human movement and make it useful to people. Preventative approach is the best way forward but while everyone insists that an active lifestyle is the answer, nobody talks about injuries that prevent people from staying active if proper movement is not taught or learnt. Dr. Romanov is committed to empowering people to take greater control of their wellbeing and enabling them to prevent common running related injuries.

Listen to this episode of The MOVEMENT Movement with Dr. Nicholas Romanov about secrets to successful running using the Pose Method.

Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week's show:

    - How there are poses that are relevant to running and what they are.

    - How energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another.

    - Why runners should be using simple physics to help them run faster.

    - What potential and kinetic energy are, and how they work.

    - How every movement we make starts with our gravitational pull to earth.
