Today's Paint Talks Podcast guest is Ashley Rodriguez. She is the Lead Designer and Owner of Garden and Grace Florals, a bespoke floral design studio specializing in weddings, destination events, and corporate and editorial floral design. Garden and Grace Florals is based in Gainesville, Florida, and has been featured in photoshoots from Costa Rica to Iceland - and even underwater (yes, you read that right!). Ashley's artistic direction is inspired by fine art and fashion, pairing classic design principles with unexpected, unique details tailored to each client. Because Ashley spent 10 years growing her part-time hobby into what is now an internationally published floral studio, she also loves sharing what she's learned about growing her business, in the hope of inspiring others to live their dreams.

Garden and Grace Florals has built a reputation around bringing a genuine approachability to luxury floral artistry. Accepting only a limited number of event designs each year ensures a level of customer service that is unparalleled. Today on Paint Talks, Dionne Woods talks with Mayrose Marquez. Mayrose is Founder and Picnic Stylist of Picnic with Me. She has always had a passion and gift for making beautiful floral arrangements and hosting enchanting picnics for friends and family.

In 2019, she decided to take a leap of faith and leave her teaching profession of 17 years. She traveled for the remainder of 2019 before she decided to pursue a career in the travel industry in March 2020. Unfortunately, due to COVID, she was among many who were laid off and travel was no longer an option due to the many restrictions in the industry.

Because of her love for the outdoors and nature, she went on many picnics. It was then she decided to launch her business. She started with picnics with friends and family before she launched Picnic with Me in August 2020. It's been 3 years now since she launched. She has curated over 1000 picnics, many repeat clients, and referrals.

Dionne Woods talks with Patricia Brubaker, owner of The Connecticut River Valley Inn in Glastonbury, Connecticut. Patricia is a lifestyle artist, multi-passionate creative entrepreneur, and art biz educator who has combined her passions into a creative place where she hosts all-inclusive art retreats of all kinds. Patricia hosts her own retreats but also invites other creatives who love to teach to bring their community together in a warm and creative space.

Patricia is the visionary behind her 5-star boutique inn which offers accommodations, event space, an art studio, and garden rooms for creating truly memorable events. Her vision is to infuse her artistic style throughout the property.. wherever you look.

Her art biz name, Design Poetry was born from her favorite Georgia O'Keefe quote: "I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for." Design Poetry: arranging elements and details in her art in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm, using art as a language to express thoughts and emotions without using words.

Patricia encourages everyone to become their own "Design Poet" whether it is decorating your home, in the fashion you wear, in the gardens you tend or the food you prepare…

Fun Facts: Patricia and her husband, Wayne are Connecticut natives Together they have four children and 10 grandchildren They are also "dog parents" to 3 spunky rescue Chihuahuas

Because renovating and restoring a 1740 antique estate was not challenging enough, They just purchased a classic 44-foot motor yacht in the "rum runner" style which they are restoring (because obviously they don't have anything else to do!!) they hope to offer tours on the Connecticut river in 2024 as part of the New England experience when staying at their property.

Ep 145 Chris Jeanguenat from Wanderlust & Art on Painting the Stories Within Sep 07, 2023

Dionne Woods chat with Chris Jeanguenat, a Virginia painter, whose fun, illustrative paintings reflect her love of nature and adventure. She works primarily in acrylic and chalk paint and will paint anything if it stands still long enough. Her inspiration is taken from raising two sons, with her playful pitbull and her husband and high school sweetheart. Her childhood adventures, from living in 300 acres of solitary forests, digging for treasures, building forts, climbing trees with books and snacks, are threaded within her paintings. Chris hopes the viewer can feel as if they've stepped into their own magical childhood memories.

She currently shows her work at the Bay School Community Arts Center, Pop Shop by Jo Louise in Newport News, Gallerie Ukwensi in Ghent, as well as local restaurants, coffee houses and shops. She also has been a featured artist at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Dionne Woods and Lyne Verfaillie chat on today's Paint Talks Podcast. Lyne is a multi-passionate artist who is not afraid of color when hand-painting furniture or creating fluid art on canvas. She enjoys making custom home decor using upcycled or found objects and marrying them in some way with reclaimed wood and barn wood.

Lyne was born and raised in New Hampshire. About 2 years ago, she moved to Jefferson City, TN with her husband and dog Cooper, and have recently rescued a puppy to join their family, Little Miss Juniper.

Lyne has had a few different careers along her creative journey. She started in graphic design and worked for a few different commercial printing companies for many years. As the printing industry started to change, she decided to go back to college to follow her passion for Interior Design. After graduating, Lyne decided to open her own design studio, and designed homes for 12 years. She still helps a few clients to this day, but, has realized that working with her hands to create unique furniture and home decor was really what she wanted to do.
