Are people taking youth sports WAY too seriously? The answer is YES. Here on TMG we like finding people who are trying to do something about it. This week, we're talking about how to bring the fun back to youth baseball with Andy Pendleton, founder of The Sandlot League! Andy shares how his unique approach to youth baseball is giving kids a chance to just PLAY, without all the pressure, expectations, and anxiety that can come with organized sports. Could this be exactly what youth sports need?

But first, Julie is officially still on the struggle bus and trying to keep her mentals in check without tennis and pickleball, while Emily is fresh off a goofy girls' trip to Fredericksburg that was good for the soul! Julie also recaps her family's fall break getaway to Omni PGA Frisco, and we're reminded that sometimes a little break is exactly what everyone needs.

MLB broadcaster Jenny Cavnar — a trailblazer who made history as the first woman to serve as a primary play-by-play voice for a Major League Baseball team — joins us as guest co-host this week, and we’ve got a LOT to discuss. Julie has a new cast, husbands continue to prove they are wired completely differently than women, and we commiserate about trying to parent, work and somehow “balance” it all.

Then, Emily is having a bit of a midlife meltdown as she faces the reality of a Rangers-less life. What are we doing? Where are we going? And is everyone else questioning their entire existence at this age too?!

In Sports Skorts, college football is BACK, we’re somehow getting sucked back into the Cowboys, and the NFL WAG content is already delivering. Jenny also gives us her perspective on the changing TV landscape in sports, what’s happening in the AL West and what it’s like continuing to blaze a trail for women in sports broadcasting.

It’s Prince!! Former Texas Ranger and MLB All-Star Prince Fielder joins The Mom Game, and we’re talking a whole lot more than baseball.

But first — Julie is officially on the IL with a broken wrist, Emily is finding her thrill in cleaning, and somehow we have a Sports Skorts story involving a 49ers owner and a trailer park prostitute. Just a normal week around here! Plus, a Cowboys rookie has us feeling inspired, the Rangers remain aggressively middling, and CeeDee Lamb gets robbed.

Then Prince Fielder joins the show! Prince tells us what life after baseball looks like (spoiler: there’s a surprising amount of tennis), what it’s like coaching kids when you played the game at the highest level, and how his perspective on parenting has changed over the years.

We get into raising kids around baseball, parenting while traveling as a professional athlete, how youth sports have changed since Prince was coming up, and the advice he has for both kids who dream of playing baseball AND their parents.

And since Emily and Prince go back to his Texas Rangers days, we obviously must revisit the clubhouse prank wars, a few embarrassing stories, and what Prince remembers most about his time in Texas.
