EP. 109 | “Kate” [Knowing God as Defender] Oct 26, 2021
    Show notes

Though we each have uniquely individual journeys, there’s still so much that’s universal—joys and struggles and the curious provision of God. And today’s guest at The Messy Table Podcast exemplifies no exception…

“Kate” is a physician assistant, doctor’s wife, and homeschooling mama of 4 who’s currently serving alongside her family as missionaries in the mountains of Southeast Asia.

[Disclaimers: Kate’s full name and exact location have been concealed due to recent turmoil within her country. Also, the sound quality isn’t as clear as usual, but we were so thankful the internet held!]

In this episode, Kate is sharing about:

    • Actively waiting during seasons of preparation
    • Learning to trust God as Defender
    • Navigating the complexities of relational conflict
    • Fighting fear and anxiety with truth
    • Recalling God’s delight over His creation (which, yes, includes us!)
    • Bonus: Lessons on bucket-bathing at the local well 🙂

While Jesus called His followers to “go and make disciples,” Kate also reminds us that…

“He has to train our hands for war and equip us to do the things He’s asked us to do.”

If you’ve ever stumbled into foreign territory (literally or metaphorically), felt slandered or misunderstood, or wondered if God really sees you in your mess, we’d love for you to join us at The Messy Table!

EP. 108 | Cindy Beall [Still Better Than New] Oct 12, 2021

10 years ago, Cindy published a book—divulging how she and her husband, Chris, experienced healing after trust was broken; offering hope to those following in their footsteps.

Today, we’re celebrating! The sweetness of redemption. The gift of second chances. And the God who specializes in restoring things BETTER THAN NEW.

“Ultimately, when we forgive others, we live free.” —Cindy Beall

Whether you are walking through your own shaky circumstances or could simply use a refresher on God’s inexhaustible grace, join Amy Groeschel and Jenn Jewell for a special episode with Cindy.

EP. 106 | Heather Brower [Does God Really Work All Things Together for Good?] Sep 14, 2021
    Show notes

Does God really work ALL things together for good, like it says in Romans 8? And do “all things” include those mysteriously jagged pieces that don’t make perfect sense?

Y’all, our guest today at The Messy Table is ridiculously FUN and deeply COMPASSIONATE. Heather Brower serves on the Content Development Team at Life.Church, is parenting two awesome teens (alongside her husband, Josh, who’s also on staff at LC), and is leveraging her experience as the mother of a kid with autism—to create and implement strategies that include and accommodate others.

“He’s working—whether or not we feel it or see it or even believe it.” Heather Brower

Warning: Heather’s passion to SEE others and LOVE the marginalized and INCLUDE the left-out and EMPOWER those around her is highly contagious. Her story just might shift your perspective!

EP. 103 | Caressa Baker [The Quiet Strength of Sacrifice] Jun 08, 2021
    Show notes

At 7 years old, Mayci Baker jotted scribbly words onto a sticky note and placed it in her kitchen—where she knew her mama spent hours preparing specially-made, allergy-friendly food. “Work hard for me today,” the note read. “Love, Mayci.”

Caressa Baker’s days are marked with the quiet strength of sacrifice. Along with being a pastor’s wife, a mom of four girls, and a truly creative baker, Caressa has a full-time calling: helping Mayci thrive.

“You have to be brave enough to stand, even if you’re standing by yourself.” —Caressa Baker

Brian and Caressa’s third daughter deals with an autoimmune disorder and subsequent absence seizures that, at their peak, reached nearly 100 episodes per day. But Caressa refused to give up, committing to do what she could do and trust God with the rest.

Today, Caressa is sharing a tender piece of her story with Amy Groeschel, Jenn Jewell, and YOU. Don’t miss this beautiful conversation at The Messy Table.

Everyday heroes. They sometimes fly under the radar and often avoid recognition, but if you’re willing to take a closer look, you’ll find them—serving on the fringes and fighting for what matters.
