16: Behind the Scenes with Tatiana Hill from Teal Eagle Boutique Oct 25, 2018
    Show notes

This week, I'm speaking with Tatiana Hill of Teal Eagle Boutique! I've known Tatiana for a long time - in fact, she was one of the very first weddings I photographed - and I've always suspected that she was going on to do great, creative things. Last year, she opened up her clothing store Teal Eagle Boutique. It started out as an online store and she's getting ready to open her first brick and mortar store! Today we're talking about her transition from working for another clothing company to owning her own business and her success in creating her online community with her Facebook group, the good kind of fear, and creating a unique brand.

15: If you can't find it create it! Oct 11, 2018
    Show notes

Today, let's take a look behind the scenes to see how I brainstorm ideas and turn those ideas into programs and products. People often ask me where I get my ideas for my business. Part of it is that I love to come up with a ton of different ideas and throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks. But I've also come up with ideas because there was something that I needed and couldn't find.

If I need it, and I want it, and I think it will help my business, maybe other people will agree and they'll want this thing too.

My business besty Angie McPherson speaks with me in this episode all about marketing. She helps wedding pros and other creative entrepreneurs and business owners with their branding images, like headshots and brand photography.

In this episode, Angie takes her expert marketing advice to expand on some of my marketing ideas from the last episode and helps explain marketing for all of us. Even though I talk to Angie every single day, I still left this conversation with tons of notes, so I hope you will too!

13: Messy Marketing with Elizabeth Sep 27, 2018
    Show notes

I have some offbeat philosophies on marketing - that's why I called this episode Messy Marketing with Elizabeth! One of the reasons that I created this podcast is because I wanted more women to realize that we don't have to fit into this type A planner world to run a successful business. We can be ourselves and tap into some of the things we're really good at, even if we struggle when it comes to organization sometimes. Marketing is no exception!

12: All things Client Experience and Boundaries Sep 20, 2018
    Show notes

Have you ever attached a negative memory to an experience? In this episode I share a story of Gracie getting a hair cut and how our experience had the power to change the way I saw her haircut. This relates to the way I run my business as well. We have an opportunity to create positive memories for our clients to attach to their experiences working with us. Client experience can look different for everyone! It is possible to create a positive client experience that fits just right into our lives.

With amazing email response time comes the discussion of boundaries. Should we have actual business hours when we work from home? Or should we always answer emails as we get them? This episode digs into this topic and how over time I have found a happy medium where I can still be prompt while still having balance at home.

I also dig into a story of what I did to make my biggest business mistake right.

11: Living our legacy out loud Sep 06, 2018
    Show notes

I'm a sharer of my family, my children, all the things! But often the question comes up about what's an appropriate amount of information to share about our lives and our children. Some people make the decision to not share anything about their kids on social media.

The truth is that we don't know what our children are going to think about their online presence, but I've made the choice to leave a digital legacy for my kids of moments big and small that they will be able to look back and read. To that end, I try to live very consciously and intentionally and try to do two things: 1) be true to myself and be as authentically me as possible and 2) to do things that will make my family proud.

10: Social Media Happy Hour with Jess Jacobsen Aug 30, 2018
    Show notes

Jess Jacobsen is a social media strategist from Huntington Beach, CA who helps businesses big and small build an authentic social media strategy. Jess interviewed me for her Small Business Social Media Summit and we've been friends ever since.

Jess totally called me out during this episode! I mentioned not having a large following and this is what she had to say: "You have 2,400 Instagram followers. That's a lot! That's 2,400 people you could impact. Even if you have 50 Instagram followers -- stop worrying about that! You have 50 people who want to hear what you have to say. That's a lot of people! I think we all attach to these huge numbers and we don't feel validated or worth speaking up unless we have those numbers. We all have influence."

What happens when you have a crazy idea and you put it out in the world and it actually works? I know I'm addicted to making plans and following through with them, because it gives me the confidence to keep trying and keep making goals. It can sometimes be challenging to gain confidence as an entrepreneur, because it feels like we are putting ourselves out there and not always getting the results we are looking for. But by continuing to show up, try, and cross those goals off our list, we'll see our confidence grow and our businesses will be better because of it.
