THE MEMORY OF... With John Galliano
Maison Margiela AW18 ‘Artisanal’ Women’s Show
Maison Margiela debuts coinciding with its Artisanal Women’s show in Paris the second podcast in its enthusiastically received series: ‘The Memory of...With John Galliano.’
It’s a first of its kind fashion podcast series that takes you on a journey to Creative Director Galliano’s Paris Atelier where he personally reveals the thinking behind his ‘Artisanal’ or haute couture women’s show.
Galliano speaks to his continued exploration of proposing the idea of a new glamour and how through cut and layering and volume creating now what the Maison calls “Nomadic Glamour”, and how a simple shape like a cape with some swift scissoring by Galliano evokes a tailcoat. He also muses on the word “cool” and shares his observations of Neo-Digital Natives and the influence of the digital landscape on him and his work. And how his memory of Faye Dunaway’s coral pink lipstick is propelled into the collection as a Techno Sorbet.
