BIG ANNOUNCEMENT AND AN OPPORTUNITY!
My podcast has had an absolute EXPLOSION of growth this year (we've already DOUBLED last year's numbers and we're only halfway through the year). We're expecting to have more listens this year than all of our past years COMBINED.
Because of this, we want to take this opportunity to bring in more talent. We have a Tuesday show but we want to fill the week, which means we're looking for 4 more podcasts to share our channel with.
Here's what we can offer:
We will produce the show. This means we can offer to provide equipment, editing, and overall guidance. If you want to learn to edit audio by doing it yourself, I'm happy to teach you while you edit your show. If you just want to record it and be done with it, you'll send the files over to me and I'll throw it all together. If you want to buy your own equipment, but don't know where to start, we can point you in the right direction. If you want to borrow equipment from us, we can work something out.
We will PAY the hosts. It won't be much, but the goal is to have you record a full season of a show over a single day. We hope to be able to pay you adequately for that day's work (depending on how many hosts you have). We're still working out the specifics, but know that it WILL BE PAID.
You maintain any rights to your work. This is an investment in YOU. We will select four shows that we think people will like (or that we think WE will like). If the show does well, we might offer you a second season with higher pay, to be discussed at that time. If we offer you a second season, you are under no obligation to stay with us. You can continue to do your second season elsewhere if you like, or you can stay with us, or you can just drop the show. It's up to you!
We will cover all hosting costs by uploading your show to our hosting site. Meaning, it will be part of The Media Lunch Break's channel. When people go to listen to The Media Lunch Break on iTunes or Spotify (or wherever), they will also be able to listen to your show there.
What we expect of you:
A full season amounting to 6 to 10 episodes.
Bring your best work to each episode. If the show is written ahead of time, take the time to write it out. If the show is unscripted, do the prep work necessary to invest yourself in your work.
Once the ground-work is sorted ('ground-work' being prep work, equipment selection/setup, etc) we will work with you to find a day to record all of your episodes together. If each episode is 30 minutes and you have six episodes, that's three hours of work. However, if each episode is an hour and you have 10 episodes, that's 10 hours of work. We'll work with you to figure out the best way to record. Just know that the pay is a flat fee and that the amount will not change with how many episodes you make or how long they are.
What we need from you NOW:
One rough episode.
Just give us a rough pilot. And when I say "rough", I mean ROUGH. Record it on your phone if you want. We're not worried about editing or equipment right now. We can always make you sound better later. We just want to hear YOU and YOUR VISION. If you know you want music, but don't have it ready, say "music will go here". We will even HELP YOU MAKE YOUR MUSIC LATER, if we choose your show and if you want us to help make it.
With the pilot episode,
We want to get a feel for the aesthetic of your show
We want to hear what you have to say
We want an idea of how long each episode will be
Send what you make to TheMediaLunchBreak@Gmail.com by August 31st.
That's it.
We're hoping to hear from you soon.
