We've talked about EverNorth Spirits in previous episodes of the podcast. EverNorth was founded by The Bourbon Junkies and they have been putting out some excellent whiskey over the past few years. In this episode, we dive into tasting and reviewing some of the newest releases from EverNorth. The 6th batch of Spirit Walker is known as "Kentucky Cobbler" and it is a dessert-ish whiskey that is finished in an array of different barrels. In addition to the Cobbler, we taste and review Crimson Hollow which is a blend of well-aged bourbon and light whiskey finished in Kelvin barrels. So, where to begin? In this episode, we sip and chat with Jarrod Record who is the co-founder of Barrel King and Alec Balas who is the co-founder of Whiskeyland TV. You've heard us mention a bit about Jarrod in past episodes when we've reviewed Barrel King products. However, having him in the basement to answer questions gave us a whole new perspective and appreciation for his bourbon journey and brand. Alec is essentially a bourbon filmmaker and he brings unique perspectives about the spirit through his ability to visualize and tell stories about everyone connected to the industry. Individually, both Jarrod and Alec have fascinating stories, but their upcoming collaboration is something you'll definitely want to check out. Together, they are launching a YouTube based whiskey series known as "Mixx Tank" which promises to bring whiskey collaborations and exceptional content with the hopes of enhancing the bourbon community. This new collaboration is a small part of a larger conversation filled with laughs and perspectives you could only get from people that are ingrained in the industry. Flanked once again by guest co-host Ryan Alves, we feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to sit down with Jarrod and Alec for this enlightening and fun conversation.

E338 - Buffalo Trace Single Oak Project Mar 03, 2026

Buffalo Trace Distillery’s Single Oak Project (SOP) is the ultimate in bourbon exploration. Consisting of different mashbills, wood, and a host of other unique variables, this grand experiment boasts 192 unique bourbons with 1,396 different flavor combinations. With this experimentation, Buffalo trace aims to have it's consumers isolate and compare every variable that shapes what ends up in the bottle. Our good friend Jason brought bottle of SOP for us to taste and review. Mistakenly, we thought this was a rye when it was really bourbon with rye as the predominant flavoring grain. At any rate, we had a a lot of fun with it and would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that facts are indeed optional when it comes to bourbon. Enjoy the short!

E337 - King of Kentucky Small Batch Bourbon Feb 27, 2026

When Brown-Forman announced they would be releasing a new small batch version of King of Kentucky, we were excited and also had many questions. Instead of more single barrels, this remixed version of the "King" comes in the form of three batches with a brand new mashbill. For the first time, King of Kentucky has released a three-batch series, each bottled at a distinct proof to showcase the complexity of its aging process: Batch 1: 105 proof; Batch 2: 107.5 proof; Batch 3: 110 proof. For this episode, our friend Jason was able to secure Batch 2 and we supplied some blinds to make sure that the very first time we tasted this whiskey would be blind. How did things end up? Is this new version of the king really the "King?" You'll have to listen to find out.

Our listener and long time supporter (Pu Bear) sent us a couple of blinds. Spoiler alert - we didn't do nearly as good as last episode, but we did have quite a bit of fun in the process. In this short, we talk about our upcoming episode with Bruce Russell and give an update on some upcoming events. But, most of the time is spent on the blinds.
