New Riff recently added to it's "high note" collection by releasing a 10 year old, limited edition cask strength bourbon. Coming in at 116.9 proof and carrying one of the oldest age statements since New Riff began, this bourbon is what we've been waiting for. But how does it taste? We will give you the low down. In addition to the New Riff bourbon, we also elected to taste and review Silver Springs Rye which comes from an NDP in Tennessee. However, it is rumored to be distilled at New Riff. For the third straight year, we are bringing you a review of the annual Four Roses Father's Day Special Release. This year, Four Roses changed the slogan on the side of the glass to read, "A Pour Worth Sharing. A Memory Worth Making." But, how does it taste? This years limited offering was made up of numerous OBSV single barrels that were aged 14 years in a variety of different rick houses on the property and bottled as varying cask strength proofs. Perhaps the best thing about this episode is that we recorded it on Father's Day and the whole crew was involved. Get ready for shenanigans and some surprise blinds as we give you our honest take on this annual sought after bottle.

The James E. Pepper Decanter Barrel Proof Rye a premium, uncut, and unfiltered limited-release whiskey distilled at the historic James E. Pepper Distillery (DSP-KY-5) in Lexington, Kentucky. This whiskey is aged for 6-8 years and comes in at 115.6 proof. Shortly after it's release, this whiskey has garnered a lot of praise from the whiskey community. Some have even called it an early candidate for whiskey of the year. But what do the fellas think? You'll have to listen to find out. Join us for this short as Kenny and Jason taste and blind this whiskey. Regardless of what they think, there is no denying that the 1940s style decanter that contains the whiskey is absolutely gorgeous.

A.I says...Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Four Grain is an incredibly rare, limited-release bourbon by Buffalo Trace that features an unconventional mashbill of corn, rye, wheat, and malted barley. Bottled-in-bond at 100 proof, the sought-after whiskey balances the sweetness of wheat with the classic spice of rye. Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably saw that Buffalo Trace recently released this bottle after an almost 10 year hiatus. It was met with much fanfare and calamity at the distillery. But, was it worth the hype? Join Kenny and El Jason as they guide you through a tasting of this bourbon and compare it with other four grain bourbons.

In this short, Kenny and Jason taste and review two Mash Up Barrel picks that are currently available for purchase from Bros Liquor. The two bottles are Old Forester 100 proof (black label) and a Four Roses OBSO Barrel Strength. In addition to these two, they also taste a Knob Creek Barrel pick that was done by our friend Rare Bird 101 (David Jennings). So, if you want to hear about some barrel picks that you can still obtain, this show is for you. Spoiler alert -- with Anthony and Steven out of town, the intro was anything but smooth. Steven recently acquired a 1960s bottle of Old Crow. How he got his hands on it is equally as compelling as the bottle itself. So join us this week as we go down the rabbit hole that is dusty bourbon. The bottle we taste on this episode was produced by National Distillers which was a famed producer of whiskey before selling it's entire portfolio to Beam in the 1980s. Since Old Crow is still being produced today, we couldn't resist the urge to compare this old bottle with the current version of the whiskey. A little history, a great story, and sharing a bottle of history was an absolute treat and we are glad you are here for it.

About a year ago, we reviewed the inaugural release of the Star Hill Farm American Wheat Whisky. You can go back to episode 265 to listen to that review. For this week's short, we taste and review the Maker's Mark 2026 Star Hill Farm American Wheat Whisky. It is a limited-edition cask-strength expression. Unlike the distillery’s traditional wheated bourbons, it is a 100% wheat-focused whisky made from three wheat varieties (soft red winter, hard red, and hard white) and carries a retail price of $100. We liked last years version of this quite a bit. Will this bottle be a repeat or leave us wanting more? You'll have to listen to find out.

E364 - Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection 15 Year Wheated Jun 02, 2026

If you've ever had the chance to visit Buffalo Trace, then you've almost certainly heard them talk about experimental bourbon mashbills, barrels, and aging processes. Experimentation is something they take seriously at the "Trace" which has resulted in more than 30,000 "experimental" barrels that are aging in their warehouses. For this this short, we taste and review one of the more recent releases from this collection: 15 Year Experimental Wheated Mash. The release comes from just 13 barrels that were aged for 15 years on the first floor of Warehouse H. Over the course of maturation, 62% of the whiskey was lost to evaporation. The final product was then chill-filtered and bottled at 107 proof. The result? You'll have to listen to find out.
