Genesis #19 - What Does Faith Look Like As a Parent? May 29, 2022
    Show notes

In Genesis 21, it appears that, after Abraham and Sarah's promised son, Isaac, comes, life will settle down and they'll be able to enjoy this life that God has blessed them with. But, in Genesis 22, God puts Abraham to the ultimate test of faith and, spoiler alert, he passes the test, leading to blessing for not only him and his immediate family but future generations of his family, through which will ultimately come Jesus.

Genesis #18 - Does God Choose Some People, But Not Others? May 22, 2022
    Show notes

In Genesis 21, Abraham's promised son, Isaac, finally comes and the baby mama drama continues after he tried to take matters into his own hands and have a child with another woman. As is often the case with God, Pastor Mark shows that God blesses everyone in the story, despite the people and their actions, and that God is always the ultimate hero in every story.

Genesis #17 - Can God Deliver Me From A Mess I'm In? May 15, 2022
    Show notes

In Genesis 20, Abraham gives his wife Sarah away, the second time we read about this type of action by Abraham in the book of Genesis. In this sermon, Pastor Mark teaches that, as Abraham continues to make a mess of his life, acting in fear rather than faith, God is faithful as He continues to save His people from themselves.

    Mother's Day 2022 - A Tale of Two Mothers May 08, 2022
    Show notes

In this topical sermon for Mother's Day, Pastor Mark preaches on two mothers - Sarah and Hagar - both mothers to Abraham's children, one child of the promise (Isaac) and one child from Abraham trying to take things into his own hands and go against God's plan (Ishmael). With Galatians 4 as the backdrop for the sermon, Pastor Mark teaches that, from these two moms, we can learn how to have more grace-based homes (like Sarah) and less law-based homes (like Hagar).

Genesis #16 - Is God Tolerant or Intolerant of Our Sexual Sin? May 01, 2022
    Show notes

In this sermon from Genesis 18-19, Pastor Mark shows that the same depravity that started in Sodom and Gomorrah has been prevalent throughout world history and continues into culture today. He concludes that Jesus will be the ultimate Judge and it's of critical importance for people to align themselves with Jesus' values rather than the world's to save themselves from the ultimate judgment that awaits.

    Show notes

In this slightly awkward passage in Genesis 17 about Abraham circumcising himself and his entire household, Pastor Mark points to the most important part of the story - that Abraham's covenant with God was cemented in this act and that God's priorities for our families are the same as His priorities have been for families since the beginning.
