The LOGSTAT: Survivability through Dispersion – A New Approach to Aviation May 21, 2026
    Show notes

Episode #53: Maximizing our survivability through dispersion with the use of base clusters provides multiple benefits to the force. It increases our mobility, facilitates greater concealment, helps mitigate indirect fire, and may enable greater flexibility to position assets forward to extend operational reach. This concept is not restricted to solely sustainment units as they can be applied to a wide range of units such as aviation which is looking to restructure their footprint based on the sustainment model. On this episode, CPT Garett Pyle meets with LTC Nicklaus Franck, Senior Aviation Trainer and CPT Michael Leinen, OC/T at JMRC, to discuss how aviation is looking to adopt the sustainment approach to base clusters that is found in the updated ATP 4-90, Brigade Support Battalion, published in January 2026. The conversation also provides an overview of the integration of Aviation and Sustainment operations. The LOGSTAT: Surviving a Unit Deactivation May 14, 2026
    Show notes

Episode #52: Turning in property can be a nightmare with just a few pieces alone. Now add the complexities of a unit deactivating and the entire process can seem overwhelming. However, it doesn’t have to be. The Army has programs to make the turn-in process efficient. If your unit is tasked with a deactivation, you can not only survive but thrive. On this episode, CPT Garett Pyle meets with a unit that has accomplished just that. CPT Doug Smith serves as the S-4 OIC and SSG Andrew Arrison serves as the S-4 NCOIC of the 3rd Psychological Operations Battalion (Airborne). They discuss how they survived their unit deactivation and provide guidance on how other units can be successful in any type of equipment turn-in. Additionally, they provide some great insight into sustainment operations for Special Operations. Show notes

Episode #48: Our first VIDEO podcast! Check out the links below. Property accountability can give anyone nightmares. The time it takes to conduct an inventory seems to be never-ending. Thus, we have continuously told ourselves, “there must be another way?” Well, gone are the days of the physical property book; Soldiers can now leverage mobile capabilities to track the condition and quantity of their equipment at a moment’s notice. Therefore, to continue the HQDA G-4 miniseries, CPT Garett Pyle meets with COL Seamus Wilson, the Deputy Director of G44 Materiel Management Directorate on the HQDA G4 staff, to introduce ParaLine to the force, which will modernize property accountability across all Army components by enabling faster inventory processing, increased accuracy, minimized readability errors, updating in real time, and enable more time for training.
