Show notes

On this episode of The Legendary Ladies Podcast, the Legendary Ladies settle in to watch the pilot of An Interview With the Vampire, hitting Netflix this week. They find the show appealing to all three hosts - but for different reasons - and discuss the setting, time jump, and world building as it pertains to a new audience with no knowledge of the IP. Amy, Kat, and Morgan also find discussing whether or not they can find characters intriguing and worth watching....even if they don't actually *like* any of them.

Is Batman Caped Crusader As Good As Critics Are Saying? Aug 13, 2024

Show notes

Despite involving some of the same creators as Batman the Animated Series, the Legendary Ladies struggled to connect with this new version of Batman. They discuss the slow pacing, the flat characterization and their surprise they didn't like this well-reviewed series very much. Have a different perspective? Amy and Kat Go To SDCC - Does the Hustle Ruin the Magic? Aug 05, 2024

Show notes

The Legendary Ladies have returned from San Diego, and Comic-Con! Amy and Kat gather to talk about their adventures at SDCC, including their personal adventures, projects, and panels. Amy talks about running the Energize Lounge for Hero Within, Kat shares her experiences networking for Lifeline Comics, and the two talk about their adventures at Comic-Con after hours. They also talk about some of the biggest announcements from the convention, like the new Marvel lineup and the renewal of Hazbin Hotel for seasons 3-4, but also whether or not working in the industry as writers and actors makes Comic-Con a little more challenging - and whether the "hustle" takes away from the magic of just being a fan.

My Lady Jane Review: Horse Girlies Unite Jul 18, 2024

Show notes

Horse girlies, history girlies, and booktok girlies - this one is for you. On this week's The Legendary Ladies Podcast duo episode, Amy and Morgan are over the moon to discuss the [entire] Amazon Prime Video Series "My Lady Jane", which it turns out, was actually written exclusively for the hosts. Not really, but you get the picture.

The hosts rave over the fun nature of alter-history (and what they got right vs what they artfully changed), chat about the steamy chemistry between the two leads, and make predictions about season 2. They also find themselves reminiscing about their old stomping grounds, The Legends of Tomorrow, and how My Lady Jane seems to follow the same thematic vein - it's a show that doesn't take itself so seriously, and manages to find the heart and soul in a way that stays with the viewers long after they've gotten over the fact that the main character can turn into a literal horse.

Pilot Pod: The Boys - Why It Survives Superhero Oversaturation Jun 24, 2024

Show notes

On this week's The Legendary Ladies Podcast, Amy and Kat are diving into THE BOYS (metaphorically). While season 4 is in full swing, the hosts decided to finally take the plunge and watch the pilot, which they both thoroughly enjoyed. In the course of their discussion, they chat about how the format and pacing of the pilot provided viewers with a shockingly in depth look at the characters for only one episode. They also chat about the open commentary that The Boys seems to be making regarding larger comic book brands like Marvel and DC, and how the idea of "show, don't tell" in this particular pilot seems to be a masterclass for television writers.

All this and more on this week's duo episode!

"Am I Okay" on HBO Max: A Queer Journey That Connects With Every Millenial (Including Our Hosts) Jun 10, 2024

Show notes

This week, the Legendary Ladies watch "Am I Okay?", starring Dakota Johnson, which has finally made its way onto HBO Max, despite having made the film circuits back in 2022. The first film in a while that has won over all three hosts, Amy, Kat, and Morgan chat about what makes this film so relatable. While at its surface level, it sells as 'just' a story about a queer coming out journey, the movie brings to light a number of the challenges and stories that Millenials face. It's a movie about the crisis of feeling "stuck" in your early thirties, about the trauma of a deep friendship breakup, and how success looks different for everyone. The film goes a step further and brings a clearly personal, and deeply affecting, story about discovering your sexuality later in life to create a movie that our hosts would watch again and again.
