Ep. 50: The Big 5-0! A Look Back, And Predicting Where Legalized Sports Gambling Is Going May 17, 2018

Show notes

Holy cow, you guys. We made it 50 episodes. Rob and Dave shout out the amazing TKP listeners around the globe with an exciting new rap. And while there's some nostalgic look backs (honestly, we were all just kids back in November when we started this), the crew also looks forward to figure out the future of legalized gambling and exactly how sad the Cleveland sports landscape will be when LeBron inevitably leaves them again. Honestly, it's been an incredible ride, and we appreciate the heck out of anyone out there who's talking about the pod, subscribing, rating, etc. YOU MAKE OUR WORLD COMPLETE.

Ep. 49: HOLY CRAP THE CELTICS ARE UP 2-0 Emergency Mini-Episode!!!! May 16, 2018

Show notes

Yeah, that's right. The Tuesday/Thursday Boys (aka Rob and Dave) are hopping on the microphone for an unprecedented mid-week Wednesday episode because Dave literally cannot stop gushing about this Kyrie-less and Gordon-less Celtics team that somehow has the greatest player in the world and his supporting cast of bums up against the ropes. Seriously, Dave is writing this podcast description right now (in the third person, of course), and his hands are actually shaking with glee. Marcus Smart. Al Horford. Jaylen Brown. Aron Baynes. Jayson Tatum. These are all players that Dave talks about with the pride of a terrible football dad bragging about his son from the bleachers at a Texas high school game.

Ep. 48: Improvising The "What If LeBron Never Left Cleveland" Movie, With Caitlin Smith May 15, 2018

Show notes

Kicker producer and ride-or-die Cavs fan Caitlin Smith joins Rob and Dave to discuss sitting in Dan Gilbert's booth, her nearly violent run-in with Zydrunas Ilgauskas as a teenager, and the time she had to deal with an actor running late to set because a spider had bitten him on pretty much the worst place a man can be bitten by a spider. Yeah, you're assumption is unfortunately correct. And then the trio dive into their own "Man in the High Castle" alternative history movie, in which The Decision ends up with LeBron staying in Cleveland, and all the disastrous unintended consequences that accompany such a seismic timeline shift. Can they win the title? How does Karl Malone factor in? How many random 2010-era basketball players can these guys name off the top of their heads? All of these questions will be really vaguely answered in yet another Kicker Podcast Improvised Movie.

Ep. 47: Talking NBA Playoffs And Nothing But NBA Playoffs May 10, 2018

Show notes

It's our Conference Finals preview edition! Rob can't stop gushing about LeBron's fadeaway jumpers, and Dave is all hopped up on a legal drug known as Brad Stevens' Genius. Also, there may or may not (but definitely is) a way-too-long breakdown of Klay Thompson's "Built By Chocolate Milk" commercials. We make our Conference Finals predictions, and Dave actually put his money where his mouth is by laying some cash down on a pretty serious underdog. Bet you can't guess which one!! You definitely can guess.

Ep. 46: G-League Legend: The Improvised Movie May 07, 2018

Show notes

Remember Andre Ingram, the Lakers G-League player who shocked the world with his actual NBA debut? Well this is an improvised movie based on his story. Kicker Writer Zack Phillips joins Rob and Dave to build out this made up world that includes grizzled old vets, weird-ass nicknames, and...flubber?

Ep. 45: Improvising The LeBron Disaster Movie with SNL's Heidi Gardner May 03, 2018

Show notes

Hilarious SNL cast member (and world's #1 Cavs fan) Heidi Gardner hops on with Rob and Dave to discuss her favorite Chiefs memories of the 90s. She also gives her fascinating take on leaving the Groundlings in Los Angeles to join SNL, and what she does to "self-soothe" in crazy NYC. But the real dessert at the end of this podcast entrée is the latest TKP improvised sports movie, featuring LeBron James (along with his misfit Superteam) saving the world from a deadly asteroid (24:47). Guys, it's not a comedy film. If you are a Hollywood executive looking to buy the rights, hit us up at facebook.com/officialthekicker. Serious inquiries only. And don't miss Hedi on SNL and Supermansion!

Ep. 44: NFL Draft Recap, NBA Playoffs Chat, And HOT MLS GOSS With SNL's Luke Null May 01, 2018

Show notes

Luke Null is back baby! And he's more Bengal-ish than ever. He helps Rob and Dave break down exactly where every team went right and wrong in the NFL Draft -- JK, he just sadly accepts that his beloved Cincy teams will be bad forever. But they discuss everything from LeBron's superhuman abilities to which SNL host made him turn into a fanboy puddle to doing stand-up comedy in New Orleans. It's bold, fun, and, dare we say, bit-filled? Stick around until the end to hear about Luke's hilarious sketch with John Mulaney and Jack White that never aired on television.

Ep. 42: NFL Draft Preview & Tom Brady's Future Apr 24, 2018

Show notes

Is this the end? Rob and Dave compare their thoughts on Tom Brady's future (5:04), and spend way too much time doing Boston accents (1:42). Also, producer Cole jumps in to give The Kicker Podcast's official NFL Draft Top Five predictions (9:53).

And, as promised, witness Andy Samberg's Marc Wahlberg impression.
