Today Brian and Danny take on the task of going through and discussing several scientific studies that seek to explore if a plant-based diet is superior to those that are animal based. Let us know in the comments what you think about these studies and any additional info you might have to support or refute their content.

2:52 – Fascinating facts
Danny –
The first non-white to be a player in the NBA was Wataru ‘Wat” Misaka. He started in 1947-1948 post-internment of WW2. Was part of the 1944 NCAA and 1947 NIT championship and took a 2-year hiatus between the titles to serve in the US army during the US occupation of Japan. In college, he played for University of Utah and started with the New York Knicks in 1947-48. More info here
Brian – According to the National Safety Council, ingesting home chemicals is not the leading cause of poising among children. The top reason is eating household (deadly) plants.
6:20 – Intro to Plants vs Animals
The crux of the issue today is to talk about the claim that a vegetarian lifestyle of healthier than a meat-based diet.
Douglas Axe – molecular biologist
He has a hypothesis that says: Your common sense is just as important and just as powerful as all the science in the world because your common sense is going to dictate your day to day life. And it should. You should be paying attention to you.
Some confuse science with authority
Quick reminders:
- The goal of this discussion is not to say that this person is wrong about their views or how they understood the studies they presented. We are just wanting to talk about them as objectively just to see what’s being said. We’re not trying to settle a dispute.
- No personal ill will toward anyone with a differing view.
- We are not arguing that a strictly animal-based diet is the best and most sustainable diet for everyone.
26:21 – 3 questions worth asking when reviewing these studies
- Does this study contribute to the body of evidence for or against plant-based diets is improving relevant health markers and reduction in risk of chronic disease?
- Does this study prove that an anima based diet would be less effective or deleterious in comparison to a plant-based diet?
- What exactly should we take away from this study?
