JJS#153 - Anyone Can Get It! Aug 17, 2023

Show notes

Josh is coming out swinging this episode! (maybe it's the gelato that's got him all fired up). He's taking shots at Sonic and a friend's wedding he's pretty sure was a scam. But he also has come to an understanding with his dog...

JJS#152 - 2 Freaky 2 Friday Aug 10, 2023

Show notes

Oops! Josh and Logan created another film franchise this week. But instead of a detective chasing down a bathroom-based murderer, they ask the simple question, "what if you Freaky Fridayed with your dog?" and somehow create a four film franchise out of this. Buckle up. It gets weird.

JJS#151 - What We Waiting On? Aug 03, 2023

Show notes

Josh had some flights recently so of course there were some mishaps. A plane was delayed due to snacks and another because of plane fender bender. He also waxes poetic about creole food and tries some candy foam (yes, foam. Found here: https://www.nassaucandy.com/candy-foam-2-37oz.html). Then, the mailbag brings some more fan art that Logan demanded and reminds Josh of a negligent birdwatcher.

JJS#150 - Dr. Brooklyn with Dulcé Sloan Jul 27, 2023

Show notes

IT'S OUR 150TH EPISODE!!! And for such a special occasion, we bring in our friend and hilarious special guest Dulcé Sloan! (The Daily Show, the Great North, Hold Up with Dulcé Sloan & Josh Johnson).

Dulcé joins Josh and Logan to swap some stories from stand up as well as accuse Josh of wearing a cape. The three friends laugh, talk smack, and create a knockoff comic book series. Hopefully, Josh won't regret doing a podcast with the two people that roast him the most.

Thanks for listening to 150 episodes over these last three years! Let's keep it going!

JJS#149 - Space Cowboy Jesus Jul 20, 2023

Show notes

Things are getting spiritual here on the JJS. Josh recounts a sermon he saw that was clearly plagiarized, Logan talks about a very religious newscaster he worked with, and they both ponder what guardian angels are allowed to get away with. Like, do they NEED to keep you safe? Josh also shares some interesting beliefs he's heard of involving an intergalactic Jesus. They also discuss Houdini, Gene Simmons, and the mailbag has Josh rattled.

JJS#148 - Screaming in the Bush Jul 13, 2023

Show notes

Josh tells Logan about how he first knew his hometown was maybe getting a little...rough. It was mainly around the early 2000's when meth really started popping off. Which led to Josh and his friends running into some very strange characters on a walk. One of whom was having a battle with nature. Josh also talks about some recent subway shenanigans, a dangerous couch, and tells Logan a pun is good. It's a big day for Logan!

Best of Classic Minisodes Jul 06, 2023

Show notes

Josh and Logan are on vacation so they've decided to reach back into the archives and play some classic bits. During the first year of the show, they used to put out "Monday Minisodes" and "Monday Mailbags". While these shorter episodes don't get as much play as the full eps, they are full of some seminal bits from the start of the JJS. And as the show approaches its 150th episode, now seems like a good time to look back at some of these classic clips! And stay tuned to the end to hear a clip from the first attempt at recording the first episode.

JJS#147 - The Savage Waltz Jun 29, 2023

Show notes

Josh and Logan are talking about facing fears or rather what fears aren't worth facing. Josh illustrates this with a story about a friend that decided to face his fear of driving and things immediately went wrong. They also talk about "dad reflexes" and why it's easier to have a good fall in America than other countries, which leads to Josh telling a story about a drunk girl that was hitting on his friend and slowly became an agent of chaos.

Josh & Logan will be performing at the Funny Bone in Dayton, Ohio June 30th and July 1st! Get your tickets at https://dayton.funnybone.com/ShowDetails/24562ee2-20f1-4c97-9b64-988fb076ae30/6aad56b0-c17b-4aaf-9135-bef9f42a2bdc/Josh_Johnson/Dayton_Funny_Bone

JJS#146 - Candy the Cannibal Jun 22, 2023

Show notes

In college, Josh knew a girl that talked pretty often about the biting and tasting of people. So...like...she wanted to eat somebody, right? Josh and Logan talk about all the strange, cannibal-y things she said, as well as Josh's night out with a germaphobe and a man that didn't wash his hands. They also ask practical questions about the Purge and Saw movies. How early are you allowed to prepare for the Purge? How long did it take Jigsaw to record all those damn tapes? As always, very important stuff being discussed here.

JJS#145 - Joshy Dolittle's Zoo Heist Jun 15, 2023

Show notes

We got an animal themed episode for ya! After Josh talks about a run-in he had with a very old dog, Logan asks what he would do if he had Dr. Dolittle powers for one day. And, oh boy, does Josh have an answer. It starts altruistic and turns criminal pretty quickly. Then, Josh and Logan ponder the real-life implications of getting 'Dolittled': would it improve or ruin your relationship with your dog? How quickly would you become a problem for people? Could you handle the fame? And then the mailbag asks, what birds MUST you fight?
