Show notes
Here is an exclusive behind the scenes look at the Jim Acosta Show town hall that is being savagely attacked by the right wing media. See what real people, your neighbors and fellow Americans, are saying. Then ask yourself why Fox and the right wing media have spent countless hours this week trying to tear us down for holding this town hall.
Why are they so worried? Is it that they don't want you to hear from the real people affected by government cuts? Do they want to silence anyone who challenges the narrative they've built up about Trump? Watch for yourself, see the truth about what is happening in Washington and then, to borrow a phrase, you decide.
We highlight the diverse faces of federal workers - people who went from career federal government professionals just a few months ago to unemployment lines. Hear from a former USAID worker who was fired while on maternity leave. Shouldn't she have a voice?
As part of our AMERICAN VOICES series, this piece was shot and edited by our colleague Bethany Swain at https://www.theswaindomain.com @SwainDomain , and opens with Jim hosting his Substack Live show ahead of the night's big show at the historic Lincoln Theatre on U Street in Washington, D.C.
Then come with us to the green room, as Jim, Michael Fanone , and Olivia of Troye prep for the show. Special guests including Rep. Jasmine Crockett , former Capitol Hill Police Officer Harry Dunn and other January 6th police officers talk about what the night means to them.
This night is about capturing and giving voice to these federal workers who took an oath to the constitution, and not to one man. These federal employees share horror stories of DOGE's random cuts, and the resulting sudden job losses, families affected by Trump's federal workforce firings, and a community coming together to fight for the America we still believe in.
This is about taking a stand for democracy, the importance of not sitting on the sidelines, and as a bonus, some behind-the-scenes footage you won't see anywhere else. Make sure you watch this piece, see the town hall for yourself, see the truth, and again, you decide.
Again, use your voice to tell your Senator and your member of Congress what you think. Don't sit on the sidelines, get involved, be the change.
