    13. James Stavridis & Elliot Ackerman, co-authors, "2034: A Novel of the Next World War" Mar 19, 2021
    Show notes

In this episode of The Interview, Hugh is joined by Admiral James Stavridis (U.S. Navy - Ret.) and Elliot Ackerman to discuss their book, "2034: A Novel of the Next World War."

From two former military officers and award-winning authors, a chillingly authentic geopolitical thriller that imagines a naval clash between the US and China in the South China Sea in 2034--and the path from there to a nightmarish global conflagration.

Everything in 2034 is an imaginative extrapolation from present-day facts on the ground combined with the authors' years working at the highest and most classified levels of national security. Sometimes it takes a brilliant work of fiction to illuminate the most dire of warnings: 2034 is all too close at hand, and this cautionary tale presents the reader a dark yet possible future that we must do all we can to avoid.

"2034: A Novel of the Next World War" is available at Amazon and other retailers now.

    Show notes

On this episode of The Interview, Hugh replays an interview he conducted with American biographer and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin from 2013 where they discuss her book "The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism."

Doris Kearns Goodwin’s The Bully Pulpit is a dynamic history of the first decade of the Progressive era, that tumultuous time when the nation was coming unseamed and reform was in the air.

The story is told through the intense friendship of Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft—a close relationship that strengthens both men before it ruptures in 1912, when they engage in a brutal fight for the presidential nomination that divides their wives, their children, and their closest friends, while crippling the progressive wing of the Republican Party, causing Democrat Woodrow Wilson to be elected, and changing the country’s history.
